Don't think so. For 2017 GG put some seriously wide bars on the bike...

Anyway, my point was just that the bars on my '17 GG are quite noticeably wider than those on a 16 300RR. That is all.

On a semi related note, I'm curious about others who have 300rr's or 4rts now. I rode a 300RR briefly last week... the motor seemed very abrupt off the bottom, the bars were too narrow, and the brakes were pretty mushy. The mushy brakes I suspect is just a setup/bleed issue, since they look to be the same Braktec monoblocs that are on my GG (and which are amazing). The too narrow bars is also an easy enough fix. I'm not sure about the motor though... it was just so different to what I'm used to I'm having trouble forming an opinion that isn't based entirely on just how odd it felt. I did notice there was no real engine braking, which was great. I guess what I'm curious about is what current Montesa owners really love about the bike. My interest really boils down to two things if I'm honest: (1) it sounds like Toni Bou, so that immediately makes me 10% more amazing on the bike (maybe 20%?), and (2) it's a Honda, so I have to assume it's engineered and put together to a standard well beyond my GG (which I love to ride, but which I concede isn't as well built as I would like). I see plenty of old ones around, but only a new one every now and again (the price is a little tough to swallow).

Yeah, the more recent bikes have a smaller clutch pack. Feels exactly like a GG now.

Every GG I've ever ridden makes a noise that's sort of like chain slap, mostly noticeable in 5th.

Huh? They're 20mm long, which is the same length as a stock bearing plus the two seals.

'not London' is a little vague for relocating a trials business. I gather your plans aren't very far along?

I've never tried, but if I were to, I think I'd put my GG in 5th on a decent hill to have any chance of it working.

Bronze bushings that are self lubricating typically have oil impregnated in them. I've never seen these before, so no clue if they're suitable. But yes, the size is right.

What's with the holes in a self lubricating bushing?

Hadn't heard about anyone replacing the bearings with bushes. Have a part number?

Has anyone actually installed them in their GG dog bones? I was somewhat forced to do so this afternoon (long story) as I had a set laying around and needed to put something in if I wanted to ride tomorrow. Not having to mess with seals is nice, but the complement of rollers is quite a bit less. I'm curious if anyone else has used them and how they held up over time.

It took me two years of practice and competition to even have a prayer of placing well. You also need to practice with people better than yourself, and practice up a level from where you compete.

It's this a new to you bike? If it's newer than whatever you were on before by a decade the bars are probably just a lot wider than what you're used to.

Should mention it only does this as a discharged battery is being charged. As of nears full charge it lessens then stops altogether when done charging.

Nope, all normal. It's a pulse charge charging block for lead acid batteries fwiw.

The charging block for my Oset occasionally makes odd noises when plugged in, almost like there is something mechanical inside it grinding away. I'm pretty sure it's always done this, but not positive. Normal?

So I don't own one. I know a guy that does, and there are now two or three at local events. I haven't heard of anything going wrong. Much the opposite, the one owner I know raves about the fact that nothing comes loose (and it seems as easy to start as any other bike). I've heard some anecdotal stories about gas tanks delaminating, but even if true that sounds like a materials fix I'm sure TRS will deal with.

Well, a modern competition trials bike with a seat makes about zero sense (to me anyway), so the fact that it's ugly is hardly surprising. If you really want a modern trials-like bike with a seat, I'd be looking at a Honda 4ride.

You can keep moving the lever back, but at some point you're going to have a clutch that drags with the lever against the bars. I basically set mine up so that the clutch clears with the lever on the bars, but just starts to want to creep forward as the lever sits on my knuckles. That's about as close as you can get the bite point without having a transmission that doesn't want to shift because the clutch is never fully disengaged.

Get some hours on it before you worry about it.

Any product can have the odd abnormal failure. Get it replaced.
