  1. I wonder if competitors were consulted. Sometimes you find with these kind of things, the people who are effected the most are the ones with the least say
  2. See the link below https://www.trialscentral.com/news-archive/sub-headlines/21115-british-championship-returns-to-stop-allowed What's people's thoughts? Personally I think it sounds kinda silly. Even if you don't like the current fim rules I always think you should follow them to best help our riders that compete on the world scene.
  3. My mate used to joke that thats how you could tell you had a good one. Reasonably common back in the day when new
  4. In my eyes its not an iconic raga. The gold ones have more prestige i guess, as much as i hate the sight of them
  5. It depends what you are going to be doing. If you want to learn proper trials and maybe do the odd competition then id go for the 250, the 300 could be too much in a confined space. If you're getting a trials bike just to rake about and practice the odd technical bit to enhance your enduro riding then there is no harm in the 300
  6. Agree with everything you said, bar Bou, if Fuji is anything to go by, Bou has at least another 7 years in him
  7. First year of trial2/junior was 2000, Raga won it. Bou rode the european youth class 2001, 2002, then went straight to GP for 03 at 16 years of age, rode the whole season (bar japan i think) and had a few top 10s
  8. Probably not as good as Bou's... Oh yeah thats right, he never even bothered riding trial2, straight to GP!!!!!
  9. I cant really remember back that far for details, but when youre that close to winning, ie two consecutive 2nds, i just think you have to think bigger at that age and do what's best for rider development. 2007 he was second to MB, don't think he could have done much different. There wasn't that much to choose between them at times yet MB was capable of moving up, but AW stayed down. 2008 i think 50/50, he was capable of moving up but ok, stay down and win it and then move up. 2008 came and he finished second to Gubian i think. Gubian then moved up, who AW had beaten in 2007 and yet AW still stayed down while beyond doubt capable of moving up. 2009 i think he should have cut his losses and forgot about trial2. When 2010 came, there were then 2 riders that he had previously beaten between him and MB I can kind of see TM doing the same. He may try to stay down for 2020 and then someone like gelabert might win it. But hey, im on the outside looking in, i don't know 10% of what was or is going on in both riders cases
  10. I disagree, mx trousers are supposed to be used in conjunction with separate knee protectors. On their own they are useless regarding knee protection. Slightly better heat resistance and yes prices are more favourable If your exhaust is melting trousers then you really should have a heat shield over it incase some day it ends up on top of you. As silly as lsv's post may seem, wax cotton or leather is really the only thing that will stand up to a bare 4T exhaust (assuming its your ariel thats doing the melting). I know a guy who got badly burned by a mx 4t exhaust and all he wears now are old leather mx trousers. All modern trousers are polyester, so they will all melt
  11. Yes and Alexz had spent 3 years in the junior class to get the win. Think it was too long. I don't mind grattarola and ferrer pot hunting to a certain degree, because they put in the work the last few years, and its good to have them hanging about. But they have to realise that just because grattarola no longer wants to ride trialgp doesn't mean he isn't capable or how good that makes him at a lower level. Toby could spend the next 2/3 years trying to beat him and not succeed. Although i don't know why his form dipped this year. Was the 4rt that good? Yeah, theres only so much money going around, or a certain amount of riders with the money to compete the circuit. If thats 20 riders, then you either have all 20 in trialgp, or 13 in gp, and 7 in trial2. Lowering the level won't attract people that already don't ride the WTC. That was the point. Ive said this before but i think nonstop has had the inverse effect. Tight turns and tricky sections have gone because they know they cant observe them, so to keep the difficulty in open type sections, the steps just got bigger. Stop allowed had tight turns and shorter run ups so the steps didn't need to be as massive.
  12. Are you seriously talking about DIY plating a frame? Or just small odds and ends, gear levers, brake arms etc?
  13. I think that certain someone who came very close to winning Trial2 last year should have made the leap. His performances in BTC against fellow TrialGP competitors hints he his capable. No doubt after his performance this year he will stay down another year and perhaps his performance this year justifies he's not yet capable to move up. Its hard to know, i just feel you have to keep pushing yourself at that young age and take risks. and another 2 years in trial2 could hinder him. You will probably disagree with me here, heck sometimes i disagree with myself too.
  14. He has measured his squish at 4.5mm. He should definitely bother
  15. Sounds like he didn't know what he was at first time round, so id take the advice that the mains are gone with a pinch of salt
  16. Cant you take it back to the guy that did the initial work and tell him his fix wasn't a fix? 240 with the engine already out is excessive, id be expecting around 150, to a bike mechanic its maximum a 3 hr job
  17. You seem shocked by this ? Stop allowed means you can stop, feet up or down. And for as long as you want, so long as there is no section time limit, nor p*** off the observer and fellow competitors by overdoing it
  18. You do know its a pretty big job for the uninitiated? Do you have the tools to do it correctly? A flywheel puller, bearing puller Are you sure its silly money?
  19. If they have plenty of money to spend, and want a show of force, Busto is a must. Only rider realistically capable (yet slim) of knocking Bou off. Don't see anyone else currently in GP with even half a chance. Raga and fajardo just don't have age on their side, and i expect a drop in form from fajardo on the sherco. Credit to raga and fuji though, they are putting younger riders to shame. Will we ever get a replacement for fuji? Bincaz and gelabert seem to have stalled, although bincaz is impressive indoors. After Busto, i believe you have to look further down in Trial2 at the next successor. If by chance he left under a cloud, new owners usually means a clean slate. I wouldn't like to see Honda pinch back busto when fuji finally calls its quits and honda dominate for another 10 years Would like to see a trial2 rider get promoted with a full factory ride. IMO, theres a couple down there still trophy hunting
  20. It is a fail, but having a foot down neither lessens nor worsens the stop. Ask the observer why he didnt follow the rules
  21. Ive had tyres refitted over 10 times and never had an issue. Never had one leak air or not seal.Only thing i notice is as the tyre ages i need levers to put it on (i can usually pop a new tyre on just with my hands) and an oldish tyre needs a few extra psi to put on the rim. Turds can be a bit of a nuisance, ive had the odd one leak while popping on at around 40psi but usually when let back down to 4, they reseal.

He obviously broke the rules in some form to warrant disqualification. And im not criticising JP, he obviously rode well, and yes, he could have, very unlucky and his comments on his ride were spot on. Im critising the comment made by GGUK, i felt it was disrespectful.

Don't need to have ridden the scott. Its a trial, and ive ridden 100s, including timed events. If i hadn't of knocked that marker out If i didn't go the wrong way in that section If that observer didn't give me a 5 for a stop If i didn't get that puncture All in the name of the game! They count the winners at the checker flag, not at half time, or half race distance, or minus this section. Job NOT done!!

That must be it then. I read that if you "deliberately" not follow the course you can be disqualified, but i imagine JP didn't "deliberately" not follow it. I see theres a few sour grapes from GGUK, boasting that JP would have won even if he was given a 5 for that section. "It's satisfying to know that looking at the section by section analysis Jack would have won even he had fived the missed section. With 1 mark on time and a maximum of 26 on observation that was job done. That's a fact and not an excuse." Job done? Thats kinda funny. Don't think they were taking into account the time he gained by not riding the section.

Is the rules for the scott different? It says its run under the rules and regulations of the ACU, which state if you miss a section you incur 10 marks, not exclusion. Richmond club don't have the regulations on their website
