This is a world championship! Theres 3 observers within 20 yards. I don't get away with as much in a full season of riding local summer trials!!
-
But he won't be able to say that he restored it!
Too many guys around claiming they restored old bikes when all they did was bolt on things made or painted by other people.
Do it yourself is what i say, much more satisfying, and sometimes because you take the extra care, can be better than what some so called professional does because he couldn't care less about your bike.
-
Its so obviously a 1 nevermind a 5 its painful! Where's the COC or officials or FIM delegate that follows all the good riders around?! Surely they should intervene here and overrule or perhaps tell the observer what he missed.
Skip to 15.50 in the vid below to see another pretty obvious 5, but gets away with another clean. Yes its great riding, but he's goes back at least a foot

Loris doesn't seem too happy at being dropped with no warning. Bit unfair seeing he is the reigning world champ and a lot more loyal to GG over the years than cabes ever was
-
Your logic is definitely flawed here. The factory wants to sell as many bikes as possible. There could be a few reasons the UK has them preferentially before the US. The fact any dealer whether they are in america or is is not able to obtain bikes is most likely due to production limits
-
They also pulled support from their factory enduro team.
Ive thought for few years their enduro exploits must be very expensive, and possibly one of the main causes for their troubles. Development costs are probably higher than trials (with a bike largely unchanged since 2002 lol) yet their market share is a lot less in enduro as what they have in trials
-
Has anyone got anything more positive than what's floating around the rumour mill?
-
Sorry for the delay, here's the exact location on my 03 incase you decide to scrape the paint off and want to keep it to a minimum. I really wouldn't worry on the exact year however
-
Gasoline originated from Cazeline, a name generated by John Cassell an englishman who started selling it in London. The C was changed to a G to avoid violating the trademark by an irish competitor. So even the word gasoline originated in the UK.
A company called Carless sold gasoline under the tradename 'petrol' in the mid 1800s but by the time petrol took off and they thought about registering it in the 30s the name had already permeated the public vocabulary, so were denied.
Oh i hear ya, they sure do love butchering the english language ?
As far as i know outside of the commonwealth and america its referred to as motor spirit.
-
You mean the british call gas petrol....
Americans call it gasoline, a name that was around before petrol and more correct, since "petrol" is actually a brand name
That being said, gasoline is also a brand name ?
-
Im all for the qualifying, giving Bou consistently the final start position makes it even harder than it already is for the other riders
-
Maybe they need something to separate the fives, either the person who got the furthest point up to their five, or the fastest time to a five. Either may be rather hard to observe, or this type of situation may never arise again, it just seems a bit of a waste they end up resorting to the random start order.
-
My point wasn't in reference to the GP class at this event. I see that they all fived in both quali rounds. I was meaning in general, it seems the rules are changed for this year, where the best of two runs is taken, time and observation, and I don't think I agree with it. I watched the video of Toby in his second run and thought at the time he didn't look he was trying 100%, now I know why, he had already qualified
-
I kind of disagree the way Toby won the qualifying, trials is about riding to the conditions at the present, taking a time from a previous qualification sounds wrong to me. I don't know of any other sport that a time set in a previous round trump's the time set in the final qualification run, could you imagine F1 doing something like that?
This makes the rules out to be it's the best of your 2 rides, however if you five in the final qualification you can't use the clean in your previous ride?
Have the quali rules changed this year, I'm sure this wasn't like this last year
-
Either they are cheap bearings or youre power washing water in. I actually find the fronts need changing more often on my gg. Mine last 6 months minimum.
Ive also seen dealers knock bearings in cold and by hitting the inner race...
Is your bearing spacer installed correctly?
-
Thats because they are using youngs modulus. If you look at tensile strength good quality alloys can be up to 3 times stronger than steel for the same mass
-
Its most likely because the raga is no longer the top level trs bike
-
The original frame numbers where hard to see in the chrome so if there's any thickness of paint it will be impossible to see. If you want to wait i can send a picture tomorrow of where exactly it is on my 03 and you can scrape some of the paint off ?
-
It all points to an 02 but i wouldn't worry too much 01-05 they only changed colours and stickers, MRS will know exactly what's compatible between the years
-
At the front of the headstock tube, you may have to turn the forks to the side to see. If that black paint is thick powder coating it may be covered
-
No worries, at first i was like yes, its a black sherco, but that small detail gave it away
-
2001-2005 are virtually 100% similar to your bike. 2006 onwards mostly similar engine wise and running components, but the frame changed to accommodate the 4T that was released in 06
-
Trust me, that is not a 2006-2009 frame
-
Just because the frame is black doesn't mean it was originally one of the black framed shercos. Theres only one brace between the down tube and top tube so it is 2001-2005. Also the tank is definitely not post 2005 looking at how the top bolt of the tank mounts to the frame. The exhaust has the plastic guard on it so not 2001. That leaves either 02 03 04 or 05
The clutch cover has a centre badge, the 2005 and i think the 2004 also, had 'sherco' cast on the outside, so this leaves 02 or 03
The 03 had dark coloured crankcases, these are silver, so 2002
So this all points to an 02, unless its a bitsa
