  1. Hey Buddy. As your from Bristol, the most obvious question to me is what are you going to ride? Are you going to focus on Wessex Centre and Club championship trials or are you going to ride the Wessex Centre Timed Trials? All the advise above is spot on for a standard trail, a 250 is a great way to go. From the way you have written your post I am assuming that you are going for the normal trials make it the obvious choice. However if you intend to focus more on the Timed Trials around Bristol you will find it slightly to under powered for the tracks that BSSA, North Somerset and Wells design. It will be fine for the sections but the going between them may cause you some problems. The vast majority of people compete on 290 shercos or 300 gas gas because they have the extra grunt for the tight courses and makes the going easier on the rider and the bike. But if you have no intention of competing in this way it is not really worth debating. Its a shame that its the wrong time of year otherwise you could go to the BVM test day and try out a 300 and a 250 and see which you prefer. Hope this helps
  2. Hey Guys; The front brake on my bike keeps sticking meaning that the wheel wont turn freely. I have took the calliper apart and cleaning up the internals but it appears one of the pistons is still not fully returning. I have ordered a brake service kit (pistons and seals) that I am going to install before the weekend. Does anyone have any tips or things I should be aware of when putting it all back together? Also what is the most effective way to bleed the brake afterwards? Thanks in advance.
  3. Sorry to hear that mate. I know from personal experience how gut wrenching it can be. Sounds like this guy has done it before so maybe worth expanding you search to mx forums to see if you can get some more information. The Moto Mag forum has a good coverage of stolen bikes. Also let Pidcocks know its stolen as if someone does buy it and tries of register it or something they may pick up on it and you could get it back. I am trying to sale a bike a the moment and have become so paranoid its unbelievable. I am seriously considering taking the hit by going to a dealer just for some security that someone isn't going to try to steal my bike. I have heard of people meeting in "safe locations" and steal having bike stolen from their or being followed home and having it stolen at a later date. Don't mean to hijack the thread but is it safe to sale your bike privately anymore or are we destined for part ex??? Maybe worth another thread one day.
  4. Sorry to hear about that mate. I have been their and done that and do not wish to go through it again. Best keep an eye out on ebay and in the trade it etc to see if it turns up. In the mean time it would be worth emailing Frank at http://www.wessex-centre-acu.org.uk/ as he can forward the info onto the local clubs and they can then pass it onto their own mailing lists. Maybe worth calling a few local scrap dealers as i suspect the only reason they took the rolling chassis was the weight in the metal. Hope this helps.
  5. Abit more info on the bike. http://www.enduro360.com/2011/11/09/featured/new-ossa-250i-300i-enduro-models/ Basically this bike is a real game changer for the enduro market. Who wants to bet that KTM will bring out a direct injection bike 2t next year?
  6. +1 for RK Chain. Great quality. I get them direct from Talon with my sprockets. Super quality at a price that will not break the bank!
  7. Hey Guys Time for new boots before the winter starts to set in. I have seen the TCX Terrain boots advertised on a few sites but are they any good??? I have been using Alpinestars for the past few years and they have been great. So I am curious to see how these compare? Thanks for the input guys.
  8. You should try and see a British Championship sidecar event. You see the top riders go over things us mere morals would not attempt on a solo let alone a sidecar. My brother and father used to sidecar a lot in the early 90s but not any more. My brother was the monkey for Ivan Manning when he won the welsh 2 days many moons ago. I have done a little bit when I was about 12 but that was just playing with my dad. I seem to remember as the monkey that when you going at speed to let your body go limp and not hold onto the chair to hard as its easier on the body. Easier said than done when your barreling along a in the welsh countryside. Fair play for giving it ago though. Sidecars appear to be a bit of a dying breed but seem to be kept alive by the die hard few.
  9. Thanks Kinell I was only looking for Scott vids from this year last night. Anyone got any more???

    Ossa Explorer

Looks good. Defiantly has got some potential to take on the Pamera and the new Gasgas Radeon. Did they release any mock up pictures of the enduro???
  11. Hey Guys Just to let people know for their future reference I never actually found a problem. No faulty coil or bank sensor or even a dirt connection. I simply checked everything cleaned all connects even though I didnt find any dirt or water and now the bike starts first kick. Very frustrating that I never found a problem but hope this could help people in future. Thanks
  12. Probably the worse kept secret in a long time . A few American forums have been arguing about this for some time. Shame he is not riding the 350. Would have liked to seen him kick some ass like Cairoli does in europe. On a little side note I would love to see Cairoli go out and race in the AMA just to see if the world championship is a step above of AMA. I always said the same about Everts being able to beat RC if they were both racing week in week out. But hey we will never know But good luck to him. He deserves a fair shot at the titles
  13. Hey Guys I too have had the same conundrum recently. On paper the Scorpa T-Ride should be the weapon of choice but for speed events like enduros and hare and hounds I just don't think the suspension is up to the task. For slower events or very technical riding i am sure it would cope very well but the state of UK events turning into "field bashing" affairs recently I am sceptical of its suitability especially with some of the unmaintained tracks with massive braking bumps. Yet, I did see on the Welsh two day enduro a Scorpa T-ride in the results proving that they could cope with a classic enduro. I think it would depend on what you really want to ride and the type of tracks the clubs set out. If you want to do LDT, green laning or a technical enduro I am sure it would be perfect. However I have never rode the bike properly only around a flat car park so I may be under estimating the bike. The KTM 200 on the other side is also a very good bike. True it can be a bit of an animal but the great thing about the bike you can set it to your requirements. If you google "PV Mods" you will find lots of pages on taming down the bike plus you can also add a fly wheel weight which will make a noticeable impact. If you can try to ride both you can see what suits you better. Personally I want the special enduro 4rt that appear a year or so ago as that was a honda CR50 frame, upside down Marzocchi with a bored out 4rt engine but I don't have the money to build one Hope my ramblings help.
  14. Hey Guys As my bike decided not to work on sunday I got out my iphone and recorded a bit of the trial. It is coverage of the North Somerset MCC Ivan Manning Trophy. This is a new piece of land that we have discovered that should prove us with some great events in the future. Many described the course as one long technical section that was made hard by the reoccurring deluges of rain. It covers a few tricky sections that proved some great footage of some skills and spills that should keep to entertained. Remember this is a Time Trial so speed is just as important as observation. The raw footage from the phone is actually pretty good its just a shame the host site reduces the quality. Next time the bike decides not to work I would like to record the video differently as I did not utilise the screen enough but i will know for next time. I never put any music it it so you can enjoy the the sounds of the bikes. Please enjoy.
  15. I have taken it off and had a play with it. I can hear it clicking from one side to the other. I am getting resistance across the connections but I have no reference to see if the switch is within tolerance. I was going to try and wire it out of the circuit tomorrow to 100% rule it out. Any idea how I would do this??
  16. I disconnected that at the track. I have know a few to go south in the past so that was my instinct. But thanks for suggesting it.
  17. Hey all Encountered a problem today. Started the bike in the garage yesterday without any problems so went to the trial today and now the bike wont't start as I have no spark. Took the bike home and stripped it all down, replaced the plug, checked all the connections for continuity and everything voltage wise is in spec with the numbers in the manual. No connections were corroded or dirty. I pulled the bank sensor and checked that as well. As far as I can tell everything is fine. It should have a spark as I have ruled out everything in the manual, condenser, coil and rectifier etc but it simply will not spark. I plugged in the PGM diagnostic tool and that failed to identify the problem. Anyone have any additional ideas? Thanks Scott
  18. Colin Crease still rides. He has won the Wessex Trails championship 15 times in about 17 years. So still very handy on a bike. I think he has taken this year off due to family commitments but he will be back for sure.
  19. Absolutely love the practise area in the back ground
  20. Do you know what really p****s me off? I only had another 4 events on it and then I was going to trade it in in favour of a 2T.
  21. I write this sat grieving in the corner of my living room. Sadly I have had to withdraw my entry. Despite numerous hours at the gym and on the bike the motorcycle gods have not been kind to me. I was racing a enduro on Sunday and had a valve break in my CRF250 when I was i going flat out around a field. Strange how when ever something goes wrong its at the furthest point away from the pits. Anyways I have destroyed the head, valves, piston, cylinder and the con rod which in turn took chungs out of the crank cases. I simply do not have the funds to repair the bike and ride the Scott this year so I am going to bow out of this one and focus on making a triumphant appearance next year. As they say worse thing have happened at sea, I could have injured myself which would have caused me more worse in the long run. I wish you boys the best of luck and look forward to hearing about your first time. Also if anyone wants to sell a crf250 engine drop me a PM!
  22. Thanks Andy. I was surprised to find that trails central is not sponsoring the event again. Can anyone recommend some Local B+Bs???
  23. Hey guys I too have been preparing to attempt my first Scott Trial. I only have one goal and that is to finish. Which will be a bit of a challenge in itself. I have been training for a marathon for the past 4 months so I feel pretty fit and ride as much a possible so my bike fitness is pretty good. All i ride is time trails and enduros week in week out. Wish I was able to ride more but no land and work commitments stop that. All information I have been able to gleam from the forums and the internet is that the best bike prep can be found by following the SSDT advice from the importers. Any one else have some advice for a couple of first timers

    4RT Gearing

Hey Guys I am just about to get myself a new chain and sprocket and was wondering what you guys have been using? I have tried a few different ratios over the past few years 9-41, 9-43 and 10-43. Any recommendations. Thanks Scott
