  1. and in a drunken state try to make some toast in your bright orange KTM toaster and wonder how the KTM logo appears in the middle of your toast.
  2. Hi all As of 12pm sunday, me and my brother lost our race and trials bikes. Four bikes in total were stolen and 2 cars (one brand new for my mums 60th birthday) very badly damaged. However due to what i can say is very good work by the local police authority we now have our bikes back, although now in a very different location. Seems the scum (i would use harsher language but I know minors read the forum) rang up about a motocross bike for sale advertised in papers and said they would come around. However rang back hour later saying they had broke down on M5. Sounded fishy so we moved both our cars in awkward positions to the garage so no bike could pass. At 12pm they forced cut there way through the garage door and disabled the security system and cut the bikes free from the padlocks and chains. Forced them past the cars and put them around the corner. Don't know how many of them their were. Then started the bikes and went to a very rough neighborhood. Must have been there lucky day 4 bikes for the price of 1. My trials bike was dumped about a mile from my house, and recovered when a member of the public spotted it, seems the scum had forgotten to turn the petrol on so never lasted long. We reported it at 6am when the police came over within 30 minute, the forensics team spent 2 hours at the scene by 9am they stormed a house and found all 4 bikes in his garden, which had apparently been dumped there. This scum having spent past 18 months in prison for stealing bikes recently. During this period number of bikes stolen dropped dramatically. We have got the bikes back from the police pound at

  4. I heard Sky Sports and Channel 5 had the rights to show it. But that does not mean that it will be on at a good time mind you. Sadly I was unable to go but cant wait to watch the footage. I expect we will see a few clips to appear on YouTube soon. Cheers Scott
  5. Hey I use WD40 to dispel the water and help clean the chain after a ride. But to lube it up I use Bel Ray or Silkolene as i find both work very good. But many people have different experiences with chain lube, i like Bel Ray but others hate it. You pay your money and take your choice. Scott
  6. I agree with you on the true biker bit partially. I think the world consists of many different bikers. I have been to the NABD rally in the past two years and I have never had so much fun. Hopefully going this year. I heard the site at York was better, shame they lost use of the drag strip.
  7. Hey all Come across this on the internet and it rang home very true with me. http://www.mac-pac.org/temp/motivation.html Enjoy Scott
  8. Hey all First off thanks to everyone for the input and advice. I have started doing the exercises mentioned here daily so hopefully that will help. I have taken up running with my house mate whose a running nut so hopefully that will help. I am also trying to go swimming a couple times a week. However as is everything in life time is always an issue. I have never suffered from any of the problems you mentioned Rod. Any extra tips or advice will be greatly received. Thanks everyone. I will keep you posted Scott
  9. Hey all Had the opportunity to ride a 4rt for a few events this Christmas which meant I stood up all the time. I normally ride a TY250, which allows me sit down, between sections and relax. Very quickly I started suffering from really bad lower back pain. I suffer from this time to time while riding my YZF250 during hare and hounds. I know fitting bar risers would help but is there any exercises I can do to build up my lower back? I also want to build up general riding fitness but I can only get out on my bike about once a month. Any one know of any exercises to keep myself fit when I am not racing. Thanks in advance Scott
  10. Hey BVM in Stroud all the way. Great service and great selection of gear. http://www.bvm-moto.co.uk/ Where in South West are you from? There maybe a shop closer. Cheers Scott
  11. Hey all Came across this in another forum: http://www.apriliaforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=135255 I think its a great idea and wish i had the money and skills to do something similar. Fair play to them Cheers Scott
  12. Hey My 4rt came with a V-Mar rear linkage already fitted. The rear is very nice and plush with great traction however I have not ridden the bike with the original linkage so I can't compare. I think they are designed to take out the rear sag and give a stiffer feel. In conclusion I think the rear linkage is good but cant be sure. Here the link. http://www.vmar.com/linkage.html Cheer Scott
  13. JK Hirst all the way. Great source of all TY parts and advice. See here: http://www.jkhirst.co.uk/ cheers Scott

  15. Hi all Here is my two cents. I believe that it is a TY250R but may have competed in SSDT. Here is my evidence: Rear Shock Gear lever Having a TY250 I get allot of interest from people coming up and sharing little bits and pieces. Apparently they would use a steel petrol tank on the SSDT as it was bigger. Possible a very good rider who did the changes or possible something to do with Birkett? I would be tempted to say it may be something to do with the Hudson family but I recently found out they still have all their TY. Now they are some special beasts. I don
  16. Whenever your in a hurry no matter what spanner or socket you use it wont fit even if its the right one. Never leave the chain lubricant cap on it when it
  17. Hi all I have been riding my 2006 Yamaha YZF250 for around 6 months now. I am getting used to riding a four stroke motocross bike. However in recent very wet events, I have come across the wobblers (or slow b******* as some people call them) being very slow and struggling. To keep the bike running I am having to keep applying and slipping the clutch while waiting for a chance to get by. But this quickly causes the clutch to over heat and become virtually ineffective so I keep stalling the bike. It cools down when I stop for 10minutes or after I
  18. I love my TY250R Mono Still competitive today in the right hands. Back last month Neil Hudson rode his and blew away the modern stuff at a very wet North Somerset MCC time trial.
  19. Thanks for the input. I prefer riding in higher gears so i always put a bigger front sproket on my bikes. I have been lucky as the previous owner has put on a bigger master cylinder so I hope that this will stop it from slipping like other 05/06 bikes i have tried. Cheers Scott
  20. I have got a sat nav so I don
  21. LOL Believe me I am an adult. In my centre everyone is split into A for expert, B for intermediate and C for Novice.
  22. Thanks for the reply. I am a strong class B rider but i sometimes ride the A sections after the trial to help me improve. I am rubbish with names so it no surprise i got it wrong. Cheers Scott

    What Maps?

Hey all I may be getting a 4rt with a 2 map PTB soon and was wondering what maps people recommend. Or is the standard maps the best to use. I have heard mentions of Maria Sanz map being very good but unsure how that is different from standard. I will get a shop to redo the maps for me until a get my laptop working so I would like to know what to ask for. I was thinking something along the line of: map 1: A road/ fast map as I ride alot of trails on the bike. But I am unsure the best way to achieve fast acceleration and top speed map 2: something a little mellower with lots of torque. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks Scott
  24. Hey all I am going to look at a used 2006 Repsol 4rt tomorrow. I was wondering if anyone knew what to look out for when buying the bike apart from the normal bits and pieces. What price should I be looking to pay for a 4rt in good condition? Also is there any components I should replace with after market ones? Thanks in advance Scott
  25. Hey I ride a lot of enduro/ hare and hound races as well as trials. A few of the events I have ridden use the long vs hard route but it must be done properly otherwise it
