  1. Hey I have seen a large capacity tank on a 315 at trials but do not know where they are available from. Give Sandiford a call and they might be able to help. Cheers Scott
  2. Hey Avoid the 270 conversion as it often makes the bike ride like a dog. I have never tried it but most people I know who have converted to a 270 regret having it done. Best thing you can do to a TY mono is take it to Birketts. Get him to port it and shorten the inlet manifold and the bike becomes a dream to ride. Makes the engine smoother and gives it more torque. I am unsure about cost as I had the engine done many moons ago. Hope this Helps Cheers Scott
  3. Hey MontesaMan I will try and answer your questions the best I can: 1) Any glue or silicone should do but I have never tired. 2) Very easy from JKHirst. They give a great service so just ring up and ask. 3) I can give you a very good setting that I use (also 11st) but I am away from home at the moment so I cant give you the specific setup. Hope this helps Scott
  4. Hey Its nice to see that I am not the only North Somerset MCC member on the forum. I am afraid practise areas in Bristol are very few and far between. The couple I know of are strictly controlled and only certain people have the permission to use them. If you PM me I can give you a name or two of people who I have been out practising with but sadly the land is not that extensive. You can travel farer a field as I know people go to Wales on a regular basis and as Scorpa3 said up near Tewkesbury. This does not exactly help you but I am always interested in finding new practise areas. Cheers Scott P.S. Did you ride at Hanham on Wednesday night?
  5. Hey Just bought one myself and the cheapest you will find is

    Ty 350

Hey Paul From my experience it makes them harder and feels more progressive. It says use engine oil in the manual but I still tried proper fork oil and found it too soft. Hope this helps. Scott
  10. Hey A late 80s TY250R is ideal for what you want mate. It will be very rideable and great for learning the basics on and then learning some more advance stuff. Never rode a TY350 but I haven

    Ty 350

Hi I may be wrong but I think 95% of the bike is the same as the TY250. Only really jets in the carb, piston, cylinder head and a few frame mods separate the bikes. If you cannot find a TY350 manual a 250 one from a similar year will be nearly as good. A few manuals come up on eBay. Or you may be lucky and get a service CD from the internet with all the manuals including the TY350. Engine oil: Manual says 800ml but yamaha importer recommended 750ml Fork oil: 300cm3 (10.6 imperial fluid oz) each - 10w 30 motor oil (normal fork oil feels rubbish so use engine oil) These measurements are from a 1989 TY250 but they should not differ from your bike. Hope this helps Scott
  12. Hi all I expect this has come up many times before but I bent my trusty renthal bars and I am considering what to replace them with. I am considering moving to pro taper bars but I am unsure of there quality and riding position. I prefer the pro taper bars on my YZF250 to the renthals on the YZ250. The renthals on the TY has the same effect as those on the YZ in making my right hand go numb after about 20 minutes. I am unsure if it is the type of bike or my riding position that has more effect on this rather than the make of bars. I know that most of bar choice is down to rider preference but hopefully your advice will help me select a set. Basically I need to know the following: What bars will fit a 1989 TY250? What bar may limit my hand numbing? What bar will be strong enough to take punishment? Thanks in advance Scott
  13. Hey I have done the lower foot peg mod and it does improve the bike handling. Takes abit of getting used to but I would say it is definetly worth it. Cheers Scott
  14. Hey I found that my clubs are moving away from trophies. If you win a class championship you get your name on a silver plate and keep it for a year then the next winner gets it etc. For non-championship events some clubs give out halfords vouchers or something similar at the end of the year. I think that this has only happened recently though as at home we have to cabinets full off trials, enduro and motocross trophies ranging from the 70s to 1994. I like the idea of trophies and displaying them in a cabinet but the mrs and my mum hates the idea as its them who has to clean them Cheers Scott
  15. Hey I only really buy it for regs and some times results. I ride a mixture of everything so I rely on it more than someone who only rides trials. I find it the same as MCN for reviews. This is basically that bike manufactures/dealers pay lots of money in advertising. If test rider say all the trials bikes are rubbish compared to another make, then these manufactures/dealers will take there money elsewhere. I also find that bike are more down to personal preference than anything else so if you buy a trials bike on the back of a expert riders review then your an idiot. Don
  16. Try BVM in Stroud. http://www.bvm-moto.co.uk/hope.htm Cheers Scott
  17. Hey The new alpinestar enduro/motocross boot comes with a removable ankle brace. The boots will probably be too bulky for trials but I expect you can buy the brace and try and get an alpinestar trial boot that may your feet with the brace on. Cheers Scott
  18. Hey Nokesy I use a WES GO silencer. Never heard a shirt/andrews but can
  19. Depends on where you are and where you advertise it. Good examples on ebay generally go for about

  23. Hi all Only ever used Renthal or RK Chains from Talon. Used them on Trials, Motocross and Road bikes. Touch wood never I have never had one break and only do the standard maintenance to them nothing special. Cant see the point in going for a cheap chain (only if it is to sale the bike and make it look better deal). if it snaps your ******. Worse case scenario: smashed engine case. I saw this happen at a trial last year on a new scorpa. Best case scenario: walking back to your car pushing the bike with everyone thinking he needs to buy a better chain I am going to shut up now.
