Just by looking at the pic...I would guess the small allen head motor mount bolt has been over torqued and it has pulled into the hole in the tab because the hole is little oversize and the lack of a washer. I am thinking the motor has not moved forward but the cracked tab has spread open bending at top & pivoting forward.

Are those black forks off of a newer model 2008?? If your really not sure what to look at, maybe ask the owner to meet you at a local trials shop and flip them a few $$ to give it a quick once over for you??

I concur, your half way there, do it right and go with an AJP caliper instead of wasting time, expense on the unreliable turdula caliper

2013 Sherco would have been originally fitted with the horrid Formula branded hydraulics (insert ''Turd'' emoji here) .

Using Mobil1 atf in sons 2005 SY250, works great.

Tip motor and slightly and ''roll'' into frame from side, should drop in pretty easily, dont need to force anything. The 2t is nothing...the 4t is a bit tricky but it drops right too without forcing anything in same way when you get the puzzle just right

For 2009 the Sherco's were just black.. Like copemech said, just go to auto supply or even wallymart or something and pick up a semi gloss rattle can in enamel or lacquer.

Why dont you just clean up the original one and just solder (or even silver solder if you want even stronger) a little extension on end??

guess you never really know if a previous owner treated 'er well. Generally a pretty low maintenance motor like most sherco engines, got to keep good clean oil in them ( except the new 2t fully sealed main bearing issues that some owners have had )

Hm, never any problems here. What are you running for oil and are you changing it out often?

This was a non-issue with the 2000 2.5 that I had...just an observation

Only have one seal in water pump on those older ones too, I think they can update and use newer style if need to.

Wow!! Its to sad so many people are having issues with simple things like standard size tires not working on standard size rims...Solution is simple, if the bike/tires are brand new and dont work as advertised, then the products need to be taken back to purchase point for dealer and or factory to make it right. If problem is not resolved then we as consumers need to keep others in sport informed of problem with the offending product, factory or dealers and do not purchase the crap they sell... Lets hear also about the Great products ,brands and Dealers who take care of their customers and support them Tires and rims incompatible??? its disgusting...

I would first try a new spark plug....has the fuel hose system been updated ??

Its a real shame that Sherco started using the fully sealed bearings into what WAS pretty much a bulletproof motor if not neglected

You cannot use a rubber spacer, must use metal, maybe make up an aluminum spacer to save weight? Rubber wont allow you to snug up shock properly. Tig welds look good:)

If you are gonna be putting a lot of hours on the bike, keep in mind that Sherco and probably the Sherco engined Scorpa's 2t are all using fully sealed main bearings from factory that do not get lubed by premix like everything else. Maintenance costs will be bit more over time and more often. Motor needs to be fully stripped apart to replace or repack They are great machines but personally would not buy a new one because of this. All the best on your bike choice.

Saw a 250r drive past in back of pickup truck a while back and got me wondering again how they are holding up?? abandoned, dead, in old sheds or still running strong....?
