  1. I didn't have one, and I've been a Sherco rider since 2004, but I voted for GasGas due to the 05 300. Loved the bike, rode it in a few trials, should probably have bought one but I was still cautious of GasGas after my 2002 pro failings. Didn't like the 2006 so much when the forks went lighter.
  2. I don't dabble inside the engine (probably a good job) but as the bit you've shown isn't broken, how could it have come off anything in the bike? That's not a cocky question (in case it sounds that way). I'm just trying to picture how that could come off some bearing, and not still be attached to whatever shaft/spindle/thing it was on?
  3. Aaaaaaaaaggggghhhhhh - TYPO!!!!!! Does indicate the fact that bike choice is a very individual thing though :-)
  4. Have a look at e-bike too. Depends on age and circumstances, but I added my sherco to my ktm policy for 20 quid. The ktm policy is cheap too.
  5. Yeah - maybe it was a late notice thing. I'm sure we could have maybe persuaded Ben Savage and Sam Oliver to come with us. Would have been good to see a couple of world level riders have a go at the sections.
  6. First time I've seen Dabil ride and thought that he belonged in there at a world level. Little chinks in the armour show he's hanging on the edge, but he's definitely jumped that big gap. I suppose it's just time and practice now. Great to see. Alexz was unlucky and went out too early to see how he coped, but he certainly wasn't looking amateur either. I'm thinking back to a few riders that were plainly in it for the experience without really having a chance, but that clearly wasn't the case.

    Tyre Change

Loads of ways work, I just suggested that cos it was the laziest to explain :-) Just dig the shovel in between rim and tyre and stand on it (like yer wife does when yer watching her dig the garden)
  8. I must admit I think we're kidding ourselves. Those grips don't look too bad to me, I'd be tempted to try them out next time at 80 quid a pop rather than paying double for next to nothing extra.

    Wrong Engine

A mate of mine has an 05 300 (which I believe was the best of them) and this particular one is generally regarded as a poor starter. It takes a big kick! My lardy leg can start it first time every time. I've often been handed it to give it a good thump. I loves it.
  10. As luck would have it, petrol stops it freezing so easy. You could have saved yerself a bit of hassle there Kinell
  11. Have you got all the petrol back out? Don't think there's any anti syphon stuff on an 02? Get some tubes in and fully empty it then fill the bugger to dilute it. If you've already cleared the fuel filter I reckon it'll go if dragged :-) I reckon if you've put 10 litres of diesel and 5 litres of petrol, that's still bloody strong, but I'm guessing you've missed out some detail, like draining the petrol first? P.S. No p*** take, it feels like cheating when it's so easy, but I'm sure it'll crop up in the future
  12. We went mainly for Danny Mac this year, so were a bit gutted that he was too injured to ride. Feckin ridiculous that somebody couldn't put a snow plough round the car park, or just let us on there as it was, we went through more snow on the way. Was about 2 inches of snow on a flat car park. What's happened to Yorkshire? Managed to get over snake pass despite vans and volvos having to be towed up parts of it, but no parking when we got there. Signs in the car parks opposite said strictly no arena parking, cctv and clamps in action, so we parked there, my tyres are too big to get clamps on Would be good if they could sort some computer scoring out for Sheffield, so we know what the feck's happening.
  13. Hadn't noticed Frodsham trial in TMX. We might have a go at that, if this evenings snow has subsided a little. Be good if the snow keeps up for this thread to be updated.

    Tyre Change

There's a few threads about this, but as you've obviously not got a bead tool, there are various options, the quick answer is - Garden shovel

    Beta Rev 50

Ah sorry, I had some real clear ones, but on an older PC. This the only one I can find at the moment, it's a bit tatty but might give you some idea of colour scheme. I did a quick google image search, but don't seem to be many 2004's on there.

My lads was a 2004 and front/rear disc. I'll see if i can find a pic, you'll get an idea whether everything looks similar. With the engine number and frame number corresponding there's not much doubt though, that's straight from Beta UK's records.
  17. Quote a rule that says that though. I'm up for persuading, but nothing seems to state that unless I've missed it. You have to have "BOTH FEET ON THE GROUND" to be considered a failure, which sounds a daft thing to say. Not got me rule book with me, but it was a quote from the rule book in my original post. Incidentally, I agree that your description SHOULD be a rule.
  18. Now the main discussion is errrr discussed, any thoughts on the scenarios below. Could you give him a 5 for any reason that's in the rule book, even though 99.99% of observers would. i know Ishy will say he gets a 10 for teckin the p*ss, but believe it or not, that's not in the rule book either, I looked. I know it's an extreme example, but shows that there is some grey area. "In effect, a bloke could fall off just inside the starts cards, lying on his side, shimmy his way along the whole section and through the ends cards, like a snake on his side (with his hands on the bars) for a three. Find me a rule that says otherwise. According to the existing rules it also seems impossible to have a 5 for coming off the bike if you hop along side the bike. To be considered a failureyou have to have "BOTH FEET ON THE GROUND". Keep either foot off the ground and it's not a 5 according to the rule book! Hop along side and you're OK for a 3?"
  19. Yeah - might be right there Tricky. I have to say I'm in the minority as an expert rider weighing in at over 18 stone, but Cubby knows my riding style (if you can call it style). I feel like I could do with a 500 sometimes
  20. So hydrogen fuelled cars with zero emissions (which emit water) are going to fook things right up? I've got a vegetarian mate who's got 3 greenhouses just in his back garden. He's destroying our planet the little fecker! Who'd have thought it. Glad we got it all squared up on here though.
  21. Always loved the 300, despite only ever having had a 280. Ridden a mates 300 in a couple of events and don't understand what people are saying. I reckon maybe a novice clubman would have the sort of arm ripping off problems, but you ride well enough to know that easing off the throttle tends to stop that sort of thing :-)
  22. I'm led to believe that eating a cow is one of the most surefire ways to stop it farting. I aint a farmer or a vet but the theory seems to hold water. These buddhists need to stop and think for a while

Looks to be a 2004 model. Check the engine number below, if it's right then there's a fair chance: Frame: 000756 Engine: 4M 300252 My lad had a 2004, if you've got a piccy I can tell you at least if the graphics are 2004
  24. It's a 3 from me (reluctantly). Handlebar for a one, and if his whole leg's been on the ground, there's no chance he's got back to vertical without at least two more points of contact, similar to dragging a foot along the floor. I've talked about it before and I think it's a big hole in the rules. In effect, a bloke could fall off just inside the starts cards, lying on his side, shimmy his way along the whole section and through the ends cards, like a snake on his side (with his hands on the bars) for a three. I think it's one bit of the rule book that needs better defining.
  25. Bike stalls with anything except the tyres for support and it's a big fat 5. No doubt about it. Not been different for a good few years. You would be able to push the bike in neutral with the engine running, but that engine stops and its a 5. No doubt! TSR22A c
