I would say 3 clubs putting on Classic trials in a 20 mile radius is stretching it, they would need to need to sort the trials calender between them for the year. Land owners may need to be flexible with their rates or lose the money altogether ?? their choice?? A lot on pre 65 and t/s down here don't want anything too hard (me included) they may be opting for the easier ride ?? The main club here put on good trials but don't get a big crowd for the above reasons, 25 miles away GVCMCC put on good trials and get a good crowd. A few monos there but not masses.. As you say you can't please everyone... It's a bit sad when bikes are regarded as investments as they will never get used for their intended purpose. There are a few polishers round here... Had a Seeley once, too nice to ride so sold it, no use just looking at it. I would have thought the a/c mono class should be a good entry level class, you can still buy TY monos for £500, but the class still struggles. PS. "They" reckon money will be even tighter next year, if you listen to Vince (Dr Doom) Cable we're all off to hell in a hand cart.....

OTF. Does your club pay the land owner per bike on the day or a set fee no matter who turns up ?? As you mention a "loss making trial". Clubs don't need to make a huge profit,just cover costs and have a few ££ over ?? If the latter, may be time to resort to the former to keep the sport alive no matter how many riders turn up ?? Then any fettling/ tweaking to decide who you need to appeal to can be addressed. Golden Valley Classic in Gloucester have a good formula, they get a good crowd on all sorts and put a good trial on. As an aside the recession has never really gone away and has affected different people in different ways and maybe starting to bite up your way,, unless of course you know folk who are riding elsewhere ?? My 2p worth ???

Is there anything to do to a BSA Bantam front hub(std D14 / B175) before it goes to be laced to a 21" rim. I have the rear sorted (widened) just don't want to get it laced to find out I should have done something. Thanks in advance.

Not wanting to start a can of worms or ongoing debate can anyone point me in the direction or give the basics of the rules for bikes entered in the Scottish pre 65 trial..... And at what point would a bike be okayed etc etc.

Woody has covered it all really. I have recently bought and sold some bikes and it seems those of us who want to keep within the law need to be right up to speed re the sorn , it would be better if we had reminders and sorn passed between owners as tax does but i suppose anyone could buy a bike and do anything with it?? Sorn only applies if tax expired on or after 31st Jan 98 but they do make mistakes at DVLA. I have said this before but it won't be long before we have to pay for sorn...

Jon, if it's rear sprocket you are after I think they are same as YZ80??dt /xt 125s. May be able to lower gearing that way. Supersprox used to make sprockets any size you want but trouble is you need ratios to be right first??

When it comes to renewal time people have tended in the past to just renew and get on with it, carte blanche for the insurer they tended to lean on the pen at renewal time hoping people wouldn't notice, but money is tighter now and we have the tools to shop around. Recently bought a Caddy Tdi and a Audi A3 tdi, they all wanted an arm and a leg in the beginning then I shopped about and halved them almost.

Has anyone grafted a later type k/start on to a Bantam B175, they are a bigger spline than a D14. There are folding levers about for the 14s but can't find anything for the b175?/ Thanks in advance...

Apparently there is going to be a "new" class, the "evo twinshock" class. A/c monos with shocks, maybe that is the closest you will get ?? of course a/c mono is always an a/c mono.

Looks like an early spec bike with Hydraulic clutch conversion. Also will possibly be a 143 cc. I would say it would be worth offering 1200.
