  1. O hell, missed your reply Dabster. They use them to weigh down the bodies
  2. Yeah, lets have a good saffie/kiwi/aussie joke again
  3. Funny that. In an article about the US Honda trials venture Bob Nicholson (?) suggested the same about the 306 and tried to tempt Marland into staying with the promise of the 360. He also said the proddy Spanish steeds were better than the works 306.
  4. Nice come back Billy. AJ, Billy's a well respected and popular member here. As a noob you could be a bit more subtle with your intro.

Hmm, USD forks have more bearing surface area (i.e. where the sliders mate with the stanchion). This gives them more rigidity. It also gives 'em more stiction. USD's can also lock up under heavy breaking. Imagine trying to force a pencil through a kinked tube with a similar diameter. This can be a good thing for example road racers where you want the geometry to stay consistent under heavy breaking. Normal forks will continue to operate but aren't as rigid so, in the case of our road racer, the forks will continue to operate BUT the front wheel will beforced back to the chassis making the steering quicker and the bike less stable. As far as off road goes, USD's are better where there are BIG jumps involved so the forks aren't spending most of their time in the the first three or four inches of their travel. Sort of an all or nothing approach for SX/MX. Where enduros or trials are concerned big jumps or hits aren't the concern it's the little bumps (3-4 inches), This is where the lack of stiction of conventional forks is more desirable. Of course there's always the fact that USD are very vulnerable too.
  6. Laugh the quizmaster off as an imbecile (unless it cost you the win).
  7. I'd get on to Google and ask them to cull that one. Don't want lowlifes getting an idea of what's in your garage.

I wonder if the CAD workstations in Salt are working overtime? Hey Copey, didn't know you had a Yankee. Please post pics.

Will this thread beat the Beta 4T thread?

And feeling very ill. Thanks for the translation Horatio.
  11. That's the bike on which young Nick (Jefferies) made his name isn't it?
  12. I Like it. I think the colours work well together. BUT what's the point of putting the tank where it is? I don't get it. What is clear is that tubular frames are cheaper than pressed steel/oval tube frames and just as good. Gasser proved that. Also I don't get the fancy plastic flashing along the "tank" ala Evo. It'll just break. It's a plastic injection piece so it's expensive. Al in all. Pretty, I understand the frame but reasoning behind other bits escape me.
  13. Remaining OT it amuses me that for 200 years the Brits colonised India. Now the Brits are being colonised by the indians. Back on topic, have you seen the last episode of the "world at war"? An American historian (I forget his name) was asked what did some countries get out of WWII. The US got rich, Germany and Japan were rebuilt at US expense. The brits got nothing bar the moral high ground. Churchill was a funny bugger. An enigma wrapped in a paradox (to use his own expression). Changed politcal parties more often than most change their underwear and an often foolhardy, swashbuckling adventurer. He did get Hitler right. Pity Roosevelt didn't listen to him re: Stalin.
  14. So you should Andy. Get a punt in for those who defend our freedoms before PC govts put an end to displays of gratitude in case such displays might offend some minority.

Or owns both. Old story, never ask a man who owns something his opinion of it. He'll have to justify his purchase.
  16. Seconded, very tastefully done.
  17. Have a good one Dabster. May Milton Keynes real from your revelling.
