It must be a trials tyre not a moto cross tyre.
On your entry form you agreed to sign on 30mins before your start time therefore until your machine is examined you cannot sign on. If there is a que you maybe to late so that is why machine examination starts at 9:00am. Check your ACU hand book to see what else will be checked.

Why come out with a satement like that. The observing teams at Hawkstone were 100% professional as it will be next time.
There are other posts on these forums about not getting people to observe. With statements like the one above where you, in a round about way, do not trust them. I can now see why it is becoming harder to obtain observers
How much money are you prepared to bet.
-
But we still continue to mark out trials, advise the newbies what course to ride, take the money, pack everything away then go and observe a section. We then go home and do the results. Why??? because we love doing it. It is the same with all sports "Organisied by few, enjoyed by many"
There is No answer to the observer situation. If you put conditions on the entry they will go and ride elsewere. Payment to observe makes no differance.
Wanted 20 observers for this weekend in the heart of the dales to observe a 2 x lap 20 section Centre Championship trial. There will only be 80 competitors allowed to enter. (NO day entries) Want to help? contact Allison@bradfordtrials.co.uk.
Will let the forum know how many we get on Monday.
-
Rent it to the gypsies. Within a few weeks you will have a trial park.
-
Just recieved a letter this morning informing me that 'Trials World' has siezed publication. Not enough people subscibing to it is the reason.
-
In England and Wales it is 'at the moment'

A new name on the EK Langton Cup this year, Gary and Margaret Rushton. The route took in the villages of Connolly, Kilnwick, Cowling,Crosshills, Carleton and Laneshabridge. The trial finished at The Alma Inn where pie and peas were served to all competitors.
Well done Gary/Margaret.

As said in the previos posts the majority who entered the AJ trial were Experts. Not what we thought as expert but what was put on the entry form by the rider.
Only 6 sections out of 44 took the majority of the marks. The severity of the sctions were not increased from 2004.
When you say 'not left to the clubs' who would organise it?
Who else can you blame. The ACU? I dont think so. They can only advise, which they do, in the notes that are given when you apply for a c/ship event. It has to be the club.
Another suggestion for my idea: 3 CoC marking out the sections 1 from the organising club 2 from other clubs of the 5. They would have to be paid travelling etc.
-
Duel routes?
80% on the easy course. 20% on the c/ship course.
Would you get the 'clubman' pot hunters entering on the easy course.
Not the way I would like to mark out a championship trial.
To be able to run a national trial would be the cream of each clubs calender, a Championship trial even better. A chance to invite 'top riders' to your club. Mark sections that will take some points but still make it challanging for the rest of the entry. With only 20% of the entry riding the harder course would it be the same?
How about some of the clubs (max 5) who run a single course single lap event getting together and running a series. (Subject to ACU) The entry fee to be the same,
-
I cant speak for the AJ CoC but I am not being offended in any way. I dont think the club would be from the comments recieved up to now.
I, as a secretary and a national CoC am looking for sensible guidance on how National c/ship trial's shouled be marked.
At the moment I have not read an answer that will resolve the situation. Is there one?
I belive all CoC when marking sections out for the Novogar series try and get an even balance for all entries. I dont belive they markout for the 'top guys'. (Still not sure how you become a top guy). The last thing a club or Coc wants is riders not returning the following year and/or slagging the trial off. We try and please all, but as you can see an impossible task.
What would have happened if on the day the weather had changed. Would it be 2a good trial shame about the weather". Or "That was a crap trial"
Keep the answers coming in and maybe we can get it right.
What about CoC who organise the Novogar series going to each round and seeing what has been plotted, section wise and seeing the class of rider then returning to their own club and marking accordingly.
-
Centre Rider - will score points in a centre trial if the points go to the last man. (As in Yorkshire)
British Championship rider only the top 15 score points.
World championship rider only the top 15 score points
Therefore do you mark out the Centre trial for the last man so that he can have a chance of obtaining more than 1 point. Mark the course in the British championship for the riders who ride regulary but do not score points, or for the top 15. The world championship course, for the riders who only ride in thier countries world trial in case they may score points or for the top 15
Within the Yorkshire centre there are many experts who do not venture out of Yorkshire for nationals, but are happy to ride all the Yorkshire run nationals. I expect this is the case within all centres.
Read the rules on the Novogar Championship and it states that the 'course must be laid out to a standard suitable for clubman type riders'
There are only 3 adult grades in the ACU handbook Exp/Int/Nov.
How does a secretary of an event know what a clubman is? How does a Clerk of course mark out a section for 'clubman type riders'?
Note: Theses are my thoughts not the organisers of the AJ trial.

Ballot
3 entries recieved seperatley, A, B and C. Each request to ride with each other because they are travelling up together. Do I put them in the ballot together or as single entry?
Single entry, a fair ballott? Rider A is No 1 start at 10:00am. Rider C is number 100 starts 11:40am. The day of the trial 2 non starters.
Ballotted togther, not fair on the other ridesr?
How do I as a secretary know if Clubs X is a national rider or just a club rider riding a national for the first time because he wants to ride around with one of his clubs national riders.
-
We are now getting somewhere. Look at last years results. Put them in the middle 1/3 alternating the start numbers for each event.
What happens if a 'top lads' misses an event?
When/where do we hold the ballot. ACU House?
How will the riders know it was a fair ballot.
Still no answer to my questions in prevous posts.
-
Not having a go at you Jools but who is a top rider. Someone who gets his name in the TMX every week?
The AJ was set out with the majority in mind (from the grading entered on the entry forms) but there was also sections plotted also for the lesser skilled riders.
The clerk of Course only mark out a course on what he believes will be a challanging course for all, including the novices.
Looking at the results for the AJ, I belive he got it right. There were only 6 section out of the 44 that took the majority of the marks from all the riders.
Yes there were some high scores but with tempretures in the 80's the heat did take its toll.
-
Still trying to get them on an a4 sheet.
Phone keeps ringing.
-
What ACU grading?
AJ entry was 21 Nov, 16 Int and 48 Exp.
On the Nov entry the best ride regarding failures was 5 x 5. The worst 26 x 5. Every novice had a clean. On the expert entry the best was 0 x 5 (this was achieved by one rider, not the winner) the worst 12 x 5.
The final result show 2 Novices (one of which was over 40) beat all the intermediates plus some of the experts
Every section had a clean.
There were only 6 riders who were not eligable for the Novogar C/ship.
These riders were in the top 10 positions.
The final result was won by an expert. The lowest postion of an expert was 48th.
The non starters were not all early numbers. They were spread across the entry.
Now if anyone out there wants to assist on course plotting for the AJ trial in 2006 or no doubt any other round of the c/ship, I am sure the clubs would welcome your expertise.
Back to my original question, What is a 'clubman'.
Another question - when does an expert become an intermediate or an intermediate become a novice. In the Yorkshire Centre they do have a set of conditions that cover this. Does yours?
-
What is a Clubman?
What qualifies you as a clubman. Age?
-
Where does it say that in the rules?
Results were published 20 mins after last man. Not bad considering 44 observers board details had to be punched in.
Just converting the results to word and they should be on the clubs website about 14:00hrs. www.bradfordtrials.co.uk
