    Verbal abuse

Everyone has given thier thoughts on what I should. Some of you have added things that may or could have happened. Some of you have even added things that did not happen. No one has given an actual official process to follow.
  3. You are Clerk of Course and is running a combined youth and adult trial. There are 12 sections to be ridden 4 times. The youth and adults all start at section 1. After approx. 90mins the secretary of the trial is approached by a rider under 16 in tears in fact he is terrified. After settling the young rider down the rider complains that he has been verbally abused by an adult rider. The secretary has directed the rider to you to deal with. Further questioning discovers there are no witness
  4. A road based trial with 20 sections and 2 laps. Each rider has an individual start time. All the riders started at the correct time. After the 2nd lap has started 3 riders (riding together) get pulled by the police. He informs the competitors that until he has checked all the bikes they cannot leave the scene. All the bikes are checked and nothing is found to stop them continuing. The police allow the bikes to continue. When the riders arrive at the time control they have incurred time penalties: Rider A 19mins, Rider B 21mins and Rider C 23 mins. They inform the time controller that they had been stopped by the police for approx. 20 mins, The time control allows them to ride the last section. The clerk of course is informed of the time controller

  6. The Club are in the process of contacting the landowners and the Centre plus Centre Clubs to see if the club can run the event on Dec 5th . This will mean we cancell the West Yorkshire Championship (ES MYERS TROPHY TRIAL). Hopefully the Centre and landowners will allow us to run the trial. Thanks to Nathan and his team for the hard work they have done over the last few weeks in getting permissions and plotting the sections. A big thankyou to the observers who were prepared to stand out in the severe weather. Watch this space for further details.
  7. Dear Jim'll Fix It I know it's only 35 years since I wrote to you last and my mother did say that I should be patient but when I asked you to fix it for me to have a ski lesson with Franz Klammer I was hoping to do it before he (and I) retired! So Jim, here I am writing again in the hope that you can fix it for me and all the other wobbly trials riders in the district to persuade Wrigglesworth Building Services to repeat the superb summer evening series for beginners next year. Wednesday evening arrived and instead of stress I felt nervous excitement. Is this normal - everyone else seemed very laidback? My mission this time was not just to finish but to improve on the 55 points dropped last time out. The general concensus on the night was that it was a bit tougher than the last one so a 20 point improvement this time out made me well pleased. Just like last time, Wriggy could be found in the thick of it offering encouragement and advice again at the trickiest section number 8. And yes Nathan I will try to bend the knees and not leave it all up to the bike which kind of brings us back to the skiing again! I don't know about the rest of the beginners but just getting to section 6 was a bit of a trial itself; weight on the downhill peg/ski as you traversed the slope and then trying to spot the flags through the low sun up the hill and out. Three cleans and a five thanks for the push mate! The Wrigglesworth Building Services summer series has got to be deemed a success. New faces, new venue and for me the only regret is that I didn't do the whole series. See you next trime Wriggy! Now where's that schnapps . . . . ?
  8. Welcome back. Pop down to Manor Farm Thorlby Skipton BD23 3LL Wednesday evening. Bradford &DMC are running the final round of The Wrigglesworth Building Services Wednesday evening trials. The series has brought out of retirement a few ex riders making a return to the sport. Watching the competitors may give you an idea what bike to invest in. Whers Mr

    Where is Mr Rapley gone?
  10. Thanks to all who assisted on the sections both Saturday and Sunday. I know you did a great job under difficult circumstances. There will always be some smart ar//s in the crowd who could have done better.
  11. jcam send your form to the details as shown on our web site with the monies as stated. ACU form can be down loaded via our web site plus membership form.
  12. Hi I am Ron I have a big wife but not a pro. a 1944 model but fires up 1st time. Seriously I take it you want to get involved in trials? As you live in occupied Yorkshire (or is it lancashire) the number 1 club to join is Bradford & District Mc. The home to 2nd West Yorkshire 2009 Champion. Wehave plenty of barlick members in our club. Want more info give me a ring. Details on our web site www.bradfordtrials.co.uk
  13. The actual situation happened at the recent ES Myers Trial in Yorkshire. I was the observer and it was not JRSUNT who questioned my interpretaion of the rule.
  14. ACU T&E Ruling I have circulated the T & E Committee with your query and on the evidence given: 1 Mark for the leg touching the ground. 1 Mark for the handlebar touching the ground (if the Observer deemed it was beneficial to the rider). As the rider was able to get up from this position then the rider probably benefited, although only the Observer had authority to judge. How did he push himself up? If with the same leg then the there is no further penalty If he pushed himself up with the use of a hand/arm then that would be another Mark lost. The ACU does not have a rule stating failure for the handlebar touching the ground. From the evidence given there is no failure committed. The Score could be 1, 2 or 3 but we do not have the benefit of saying which as the information is not comprehensive and it is for this reason that the Observer is the only person who can decide, and his/her decision is final regarding the judgement. I hope this helps. Kind Regards
  15. 1st part of the question a five See ACU handbbok page 202 DEFINIATIONS Failure (a) 2nd part If there is a time for each section he is allowed his allocated time. If not the observer should polity ask the competitor to leave. If he/she ignores you suugest that if he/she dont get his/her a*** out of the section you will refuse to mark him/her next time. or report him/her to Clerk of Course to take action under NSC 6.04 no 4 page 464
  16. Could someone please give me an explanation on 'what marks the competitor would loose' in the following situation: The trial was being run under TSR22a method of marking rules. A competitor entered the section and halfway through slipped into a deep rut with his front wheel. He landed with the majority of his right leg on the ground. His legs were still astride the machine. The handlebar touched the ground. He was able to push himself up without taking his hands of the handlebars and continued to ride the section to the end cards. As an observer what mark would you have given him and give an explanation why/how you came to the decision.
  17. Perhaps he wants to practice before the WTC in June?

    Lakes 2 Day

I wonder how many on the hard course were out of time.
  19. Can the Coc explain why the time limit was scrapped on Saturdys route Not sure why but I understand the time limit was scrapped on the Saturday? If this is the case what about the riders who rushed the sections or asked for a 5 so that they could finish within thier time limit. I also heard that some riders knew about the scrapping of the time limit during the trial. Was the a justifiable reason why the time limit was scrapped. As a Clerk of Course I was on the understanding that you DO NOT change or scrap time limits. This is drumed into you when attending the seminors at Rugby.
  20. I keep hearing that the SSDT is over subscribed due to the rules changing to NO STOP. At the same time this change came in I believe there were a couple of other changes which had a great impact on the entry numbers: 1 You could put down the name of the person(s) who you wanted to ride with. If you both were lucky to get through the draw you could ride round with your mate(s) 2 If you had mechanical failure you could continue riding the event on a NO award basis These 2 changes made a greater impact then the NO stop rule
  21. Will I need a proper size number plate? Yes you do. No number plate you are open for prosecution How much is road tax for a 300cc machine - probably doing less than 100 miles a year? You do not get a discount for low milage Just done an online quote -
  22. If you reported it to the secretary of the trial on the day it happened, tthe secretray should have snt an accident report form to the insurers with all the details. witness etc, what was injured) The clerk of course should also have been informed. The Insurance company should then send you a form of which you fill in details. You should also keep the secretary up to date on what has happened. May be worth contacting the secretary just to check they have followed the procedures.
  23. 'Duty of care'. Reading the above statement if I was CoC I am afraid that I would refuse your entry knowing what I know now. If I knowingly allow you to ride when you have admitted you are going to struggle leaves me wide open to be sued.
  24. Give the bloke a chance. Yes a mistake which Paul has admitted. WE secretaries are not all experts on computers we do the best we can. Just check the time he posted the results, 2:07am. It is not the end of the world if a link or attachement ddoesn't work. Get of his back and wait for Paul to sort it out which he has said he will do3 times already. All the best Paul, dont let the b##s''ds get you down.
  25. What is going to be the punisment if you do not obey the rule. Who is going to make sure that only 3 competitors machines are running at one time. Who will decide 'if it is hard to push' I have just had a thought, Perhaps the observer could do this, they dont do much any way.
