Water in the carb bowl will cause this type thing as well, whether induced from the fuel or coming in the bowl vents when washing and such. A good regular cleaning is your best bet!

I think it is a great event! Great riding area! And I support it, I feel proud to have spent quality time there over the years with most of the top riders in the US. A great Spring Break! And the "train at your own rate" thing is good. Four sessions daily, plus other things!

I do not think you are a complete jerk. I do not have a Beta to experiment with, yet my Sherco Paioli's are similar.
I do not think there is much if any compression damping, nor are the really designed to. Seems one still must pass oil through these large holes upon compression, and them being large, viscosity change in the range mentioned would make little difference in regular movement. Where the difference would come to play would be in the upper shock range of "sharp edge" impact reaction, or the point to where sharp edge impacts start to literally HURT the riders arms and hands because one cannot push fluid through those holes that quickly. You get a pressure spike!
Now the thicker the oil the greater the spike, because one can only push soo much oil through the holes in a given amout of time, like trying to pound a column of oil through a hole with a hammer! The oil will not compress, so this will create high pressure that will prevent the fork from giving in prematurely its length of travel upon repeated rapid hits, yet any fluid will still hydrospike. (bellyflop in the pool) Water will hurt you! Now try that at 20ft!
This is a limitation of an orface rod fork design, and also why it is not used in rebound on the newer forks, which is more critical for us trials riders. Finding a happy rate for your weight and such is still an option, yet is limited in range. If I am not going fast and not hitting things hard and at a high rate, the standard oil is fine, thinner may give you a bit more shock relief, but you will never push it through those holes any faster than it can go.

The Left fork(as sitting on bike) holds the spring. The Right holds the damping unit.
Now not being said just how you are feeling this, and the above suggestion, you may still have air in the damper.

I see where you are coming from, yet one may need to use a bit of inverse logic on a trials bike.
Firstly, the Mfg. recco is 98 RON for most all models I recall. This roughly is equal to our (US) R+M/2 rating of 93 octane, and the bikes seem to run fine on that with little exception.
The bikes are basically tuned for torque and rapid response, you may lug and chug it around a trials course at moderate rpms and never really get a lot of heat in the motor enough to warm the gear oil on a cold day. And they will cool down quickly. Fairly hot plug keeps excess oil burnt off as well.
Compressions are still yet fairly high, for decent power and response, and the larger 250 and 2.9 need the juice to prevent pinging, as well as a fairly hot plug to prevent fouling when putting about. A 125 is not much different, yet one must carry more revs at most times,
I had an '03 125 for several years, and it seemed less finiky in the fuel and jetting than my big bike. There was also some brief dyno testing done back i n that time period that supported the theory that a bit more power was to be found in the lower octane fuel when using a 125 for testing, Yet keeping out of the preignition and detonatation range is still important. Your mileage may vary!

Well I admit I have been kinda "on the fence", as the cost or diesel for a 1500 mile trip is not good right now, then consider the weather forcast may change things, and the fact the Sooner Cup is the same weekend in OK. Yet all in all, I was still IN, untill today when the wifey told me that they may want to schedule a minor surgery for next week, so that may just change everything!

Not sure about the 2000 year, many years(my "01) required a "half link " witch is a special section and requires dual split links. You may have to count(examine) what is onit and call Splatshop Chris or something. Think he carries the Regina and Renthal, both good.

Yea well thanks! I was going to do a video last week of a test flight on an aircraft so I took my new Contour helmet cam!!!! Seems one can rotate the lens for horizontal or verticle mounting, so I just rotated it and slappe it up on the panel looking out. Unfortunately, it was on the wrong side, so everything is upside down and I cannot seem to fix it! Seems one cannot just flip a vid like a pic!
Seems the same thing happens when I just hold it normally and look down at my dong. Everything goes inverted ans I cant seem to fix it. Can I send you samples Andy?

I think you are going to get varying opinions here, but if the bike is running otherwise normally, I would not be inclined to change a lot of things.
Some insulation between exhaust and res would be good. Insure ignition timing is not set back too far on the stator plate, as this will lead to excess heat in the exhaust due to short burn period.
I do not neccessarily think that a higher octane of race fuel will keep your exhaust cooler under high load conditions, nor am I a proponent for a 40:1 mix of oil unless you are roadracing the thing, you might go to 70:1 for hard use(full synth).
Jon may have other thoughts on the EGT situation using a higher octane fuels than needed, as I have no specs, yet seems may be counter productive.

There seems far too many reports on this issue now, And on different rims, so seems about time a general warning went out unless one is using a tube in them. Dealers need to contact the factory and have these things bought back!
Add to this, if a trials tire don't go on a tubeless rim with a good solid pop(bang) at 30-40 psi or better, it just ain't right! Not sure if any have noticed this , but the bead tension is all that holds these things on.
I will not venture to use one till we have a "clean date" on the mfg.

Likely nothing wrong with it as disc brakes do that sort of thing because the pads are mostly allways still in contact with the rotor.
As long as the wheel spins freely otherwise, leave it!
