Simple physics really, when you put Zippy in motion, he tends to stay in motion!
God help him if he actually had to stop !
You need to get down to TTC for the Trials Training Weekend, Zip! End of March!

Wow it is out there!!!!! Forkink tuners!
We normally just use the 5wt, some of the more robust seem to prefer the 7.5 wt.
I do think the levels should be kept close, due to the effect of air compression, and obvious lockup without some headspace for things to compress.
-
I think if the first year depreation was linear between the two it would still be a good deal.
It is a very attractive bike(never liked the white) a good performer, and bikes in good nick are sometimes hard to find.
Not to mention, a good rider on this bike will still kick your butt!
-
Just take the grinder to it, it will be fine, if you crash a lot!
Well you know the brits are always riding and bitching about the bikes, yet none build or ride their own modern ****! There is your chance!
-
So it's the springs breaking in these things? There seems to be a number of reports of replaced tensioners for noise concerns, but no one has said as to why? This could be the obvious culprit, yet I do not have one and cannot comment, as tensioners vary and some have locking adjustments. Yet I would also think the springs may be similar to other bikes, named H and Y perhaps?
-
He He, thats a good video he put up! And a good gap he jumped there, it would scare me a bit! Did you get him over the pyrimid of doom?
Did he have to go change undies after all that?
-
That is roughly $2000.00 US off the cost of the standard '09 as I understand.
Nothing wrong there! Still a good contender!
-
The spec is:
385cc left
370cc right
There is also a distance measure from tops of tubes with caps and spring removed.
110mm left
60mm right
The total accuracy of these measures has been debated and may vary over time. Many have put in to much oil!
You see, this is not a simple drain and fill by most standards, as you must almost fully remove and work out the old iol from the hydro unit on the right side.
I am thinking the easiest way might be to remove the caps and spring, fully compress the forks and take your exhisting measures on each side for referance. Do this at the start, then pull the plugs and drain them, work the old oil out, work the new oil in, but when you go back go to the original measure that you took. Doubt you could go wrong this way!
Let us all know where you find the magic 4.5wt oil from factory!

I posted on the Braking pads a couple weeks ago. I like them.
You see, it is not that the Galfers start to squeal just a little, it is that they become excessively annoying! Yes, done all that other stuff to no avail.
I'm not soo sensitive that I would invest in the new disks because of it. Way too tight for that!
-
Have you tried this,,,,, Zippy?
I find eating a lot of greasy tacos from JITB, helps things move in and out before they get stored as fat! 2 for $1
-
Jumping off my '07 and on to a new one for a qiuck spin, all I can say is the suspension felt great! More refined!
Will this make me a better rider? Probably not!
Is it a better bike? Probably yes! And that is all I can say about that!

Seems all for most of the "mudders " do like the IRC! And even the Vee-rubber.
I curently think the Dunlop is the tradeoff for cost and performance, and it does seem you can run them at rediculously low pressures inthe mud and such if need be.

Light and progressive, but for the rev and pop riders, it would slip too much.

Ahhhh, I am not Dead, yet!
Ave u seen the 'ips move on that monster!
Makes me friggin brain rattle!!!! Good entertainment!
Think I seen the current tour name called "Oral Fixation" or sumpn, whats up with that?

A year or so ago, I asked Adrian about the prices. I think the TRP was 650US range, and the Ohlins about 800. A look last week suggested the TRP at about 750 range(gone up)
The link to the Wilber site earlier suggested about 500 EU , although Johnnysherco reported near 900 AU.
I think I would need to ck the rates?
Last I heard, Dabster had a top quality Rieger shock fro the offer, and at a good price. It has a remote res which must be mounted , but a top unit as i understand.
Bottom line, mine still works, and I do not have that kind of dosh to p*** off! Wish I did!

And the pundits say that what will float in the air will not float on water! I call BS!
Good going on that one!
-
He He, I have no idea which way is UP! Suppose whastever fits, in contrary to previous discussion? Are they sensitive to which way the oil lays?
Who did you get it from?
I looked on the Lewisport site today, just to eye the thing in a pic, and can see where the shock body end is larger and may not fit upside down. I might call Adrian if you are unsure and need relief from the quandry? He should have some insight.
If it is any insight at all, seems I recall the stocker would only fit one way as well, not sure about the '08 i think you have.
I guess the knob is compression damping and the screw is rebound? Ah, you can build that hamburger 2046 different ways! What do you want?

Nothing Fresh there Steve, she is a good lass!(DO NOT even mention that I am old enough to be her father) I try to help the youth and women riders in any fashon I can really. Not a problem! If you get adventurous, well I would do the same, all it takes is a round trip ticket!
Seems we may be fortunate to have her moving south before too long!

I think someone is waiting for me!

Those things are sturdy and cheap, much better than plastic "water containers"!

An Amish woman and her daughter were riding in an old buggy one cold blustery day.
The daughter said to her mother,
'My hands are freezing cold.'
The mother replied,
'Put them between your legs and your body heat will warm them up.'
The daughter did, and her hands warmed up.
The next day the daughter was riding with her boyfriend who said, 'My hands are freezing cold.'
The girl replied, Put them between my legs and the warmth of my body will warm them up.'
He did and warmed his hands.
The following day the boyfriend was again in the buggy with the daughter.
He said, 'My nose is cold.'
The girl replied 'Put it between my legs, the warmth of my body will warm it up.'
He did and warmed his nose.
The day after the boyfriend was again driving with the daughter, and he said, 'My pe--- is frozen solid.'
The next day, the daughter was driving in the buggy with her mother again,
and she asks, 'Have you ever heard of a pe---?'
Concerned the mother said, 'Why yes...why do you ask?'
The daughter replies, 'They make one hell of a mess when they defrost, don't they?!?'

Oh, I do appreciate fully whhat you are saying here. I can only suppose from that point that the earlier units were also different internally?
Several points made here on the thread. And several thoughts come to mind.
Firstly. I would find it difficult to totally wrap it, as you could not seal it off properly, and it would still require a good reglar cleaning. Non to mention the fact that you really do not want to trap ant corrosive material in there.
I have considered riviting a support and rubber flap off the airbox, but the positioning is less than ideal, and the attachment to airbox difficult to perform correctly and reliably!
I am almost thinking that a thick neoprene sheet(similar to the 'inner tube') method may well work as a descent flap, if only secured at the top of the spring with a zip tye or wire tye, just covering the back half of the thing from the blast off the tire, yet still easily moved and flexable enough to clean around. Not perfect, yet ? Better than nothing!
