  1. I think it would be great if Doug has a good year on the Beta! Seen where Adam had a little hand injury, can we send them Brit Special Forces to help Bou with the same? Or maybe just send Dabster, he'll be rumaging around the Montesa guys now! "Oh, Senior Bou, could you lend an old fart a hand by showing him hou you adjust the chainwheels on one of these lumps?" That should just about do it!
  2. They were just tuned more aggressivly from the factory. The '06 and up bikes are much smoother and run well on 93 pump gas, although my '07 still has a sticker that promotes 98 octane, it is not neccessary.
  3. Not sure what you are on about Dabster, but last I seen him, Smage should be a prime contender for the WTC Youth this coming year. If he is smart, he will stay on the Sherco in MHO! I have not even plotted the year out, but the limited NATC schedule for next year should provide enough flexability for Patrick to sucessfully compete in both series I would think. Yet as always, I would be the first to tell you that any support or assistance for our young hopefull over there would be well recieved and appreciated ! Noel and Pat are not much different than Julian and Alexz aftre all. Just good people to be with! I would not do anything less for Alexz, or any others if need be. But the travel wil be tough, as always, for a US rider!
  4. Dave, I have this desire to make that event before I die! How tough is it on your average punter? Do you guys run a split program with Morn and Afternoon riders? Seems I recall a long trail and lots of sections! How far is it from Steve? Thanks in advance, Mark
  5. Ian, Not quite sure what you are up to here! Did the mudguard have the proper insulation installed? Was this caused by a long hard run at open throttle? Was it just too clogged in the first place by residues from race gas and non synthetic oils? What exactly is the middle box cover? that melted? And lastly but not least, maybe you have done burnt it out and it is OK? Howard makes a good point there as well! Flamethrower style!
  6. Helps what, give it to you? I think you really have to watch someone like Ray Peters do the rocky creek sections at TTC with ONE HAND before you realize just how much you are probably overworking your arms and wrists due to improper body positioning, improper lever positioning and such. It is somewhat humbling to suddenly realize just how screwed up you really are, but it gives you a lot to work on. I think that if you let yourself get too tired and sloppy toward the end of a trial you are much more likely to get yourself hurt, and all the bananas in the world are not gonna help that. Conservation of energy is an important factor to consider. Propre tecnique will help that! Basically, I think what I am telling you here is that it is a TWO way street. Attending schools and riding with a few gifted folk helps fend off your bad habits and develop good ones, reguardless of your skill level. I have also realized that youth and vigor will no longer help my old ass, and it does not get any easier as you get older, working upon your skills is increasingly important! Bananna shooters are pretty good though, after a trial. 1/2 bananna, 1/2 peach schnops!
  7. You see, Biff and I have a lot in common! The first half of my life was spent on fast motorcycles, fast cars, and fast women--- the rest I wasted! Nowadays, the boost guage in the in the Dodge Cummins powered 325 horse 600 ft/lb turbo diesel trials transporter is used as a fuel economy guage!
  8. Sounds like a good start on that one!
  9. Gasser guys on the Sherco thread again!
  10. "My brother-in-law's wife is a Canook." mAN, i DON'T KNOW IF YOU REALIZE IT, BUT THAT MAKES HER YOUR sister! Where I come from, that makes it entirely legal to kick her ass! She's driving a Boing and you're driving a Mont! Screw her! Kick her ass again for good measure! Same with Ringo and Malibu, same club, all is well, JUST KICK HIS ASS! No problem! I have no idea what any of this has to do with anything, but it was refreshing to have someone post something in complete sentences that were readable and interisting, yet totally irrelivent, and still managed to get a little butt kicking in! I kinda like this!
  11. Can't you get a fuel injected 289 or 302 into that Miata?
  12. Yea, you are right again, Jon. Screw the Japs and the French! Even RON, who has been trying to get me on one of them Itialian Stallions for years now has not been able to give me any instructions in English! He's a friggin yankee, you know! He just gives me a bike, I crash it, and I give it back to him. Then we all smile in a silly sort of way and have more beer! I have to admit that the Xhispa, or whatever you call it, has become more attractive ever since that Chineeese girl asked if I wanted a Big Finish! I just need a 4 bike deal, 1 to ride and 3 for parts!
  13. Sounds like fun, does that mean that the lad will be on the 125 Montesa?
  14. You must understand that this "heat" method is totally unapproved and experimental, will result in the pipe still looking like s%4T, and may be dangerous to perform, even by experienced folk! If your pipe is not caved in more than halfway, you will probably notice no difference anyway! If you want it right, get a new one! For those who have nothing better to do, rubber plugs are available at the hardware store, good luck! Drink more beer!
  15. Wow, that just stirred the pot! This is the point that I would normally interject some wise crack, yet I think not! Kieth is a fine rider and the Beta USA support is great as well! The bikes are solid and maybe more to Kieth's liking as he never really seemed to "get on" with the Monty. Best to you both! Now it seems both Montesa and Scorpa are looking for a rider?
  16. Funny thing, I even had a black friend tell me that one yesterday! They think it is stupid too! Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!
  17. We just stick a HEMI in it and forget about it! No replacement for displacement! Go get yourself that nice new 200 Gasser, Biff! It's sweet!

    Chains

The factory uses the Regina chain, they do seem to hold up well.
  19. Well, it's that time of year again! A little Christmas break and time to do the maintenance! If you clean and pack your linkage well, it will last, if not you will pay the price! Clean means clean! Well lubed means everything! A little soap and water, a good scrubbing in mineral spirits and a blow dry will get you to this point! All slippery downhill from here!
  20. Does it have an o-ring on the petcock? I seem to recall having to install a slightly larger diamiter "American" fractional o-ring in there on the '06, no gasket thing needed. Hope that helps!
  21. Why are the others not so muddy? Did you take a detour? Your owner of the carwash will love you!
  22. That's how they do it, down under! Tis a bit 'airy! Not much more than your kilt, Clark! Thanks for the Beer!
