  2. Poor John, did'nt realize he was so old he was wearing the inconenance control diapers! Must have been some rough years on them old bikes!
  3. Looks as though it will spark fine, on an air cooled bike, with no lights! Where did you find the dipper who done it, send it back!
  4. Good to hear she is doing Ok, wish you well Deb!
  5. Not sure where you are located, but you should try and get a ride on both, as they are apples and oranges with the Sherco leaning more toward light weight and perkiness, easiest to work on, and the Scorpa more gentle and flexable, very solid well built performer with smooth power.
  6. I have this thing at work to use on car and truck tires which is basically a portable air tank with a huge valve and nozzle! You pressurize it up to about 60-80psi and then slam the valve open which immidiatly dumps all the air when aimed inside the rim. Tire beads up and airline takes up from there. Works great and with no explosives! Makes a lot of noise still!

    Running Problems

Even if you have a local with a 2.9 or 2.5 the carbs are virtually identicle if you can try one should run fine. Cannot imagine how you break the internals? I had a 125 of that vintage for a number of years, carby was never finiky, about 33 on the pilot jet should work fine.
  8. Fire Bad!!!!!! Mikuni Bad!!!!!!!!! Fire Mikuni!!!!!!!!
  9. Almoost forgot, be sure to run enough electrical tho run beer cooler and air compressor at the same time! You can just run the long funnel through the wall to the bucket after the inspector leaves!
  10. Aah, so you too are finding the wife more and more annoying! PM Dabster, he can build your clubhouse in the back withe the flatscreens and stereo!

    Running Problems

I hate deals like this because if the bike did not even have a main jet in it, God only knows who has screwed up what! Go back oner the basics, be sure the fuel tank is venting properly, fuel is flowing through the petcock, vent hoses on carb are removed or clear, put needle back in 3rd groove from top. If you do not have a problem with fuel supply, yet it runs better with choke on, you may have a problem with crankshaft seals sucking in air, just a thought, any excessive slack in the flywheel if you try to move it up and down? Do you have a local dealer that can offer assistance?

    Video

Good to see someone found Ray! In the desert! Hopping rocks!
  13. I'm not sure what it says, but I want one!
  14. You may need it Zipper! I have seen that exact case when they came off and would not go back! All the straps and stuff would not work! Finally found a proper Yomee beader! And this is a half dozen experienced fellows going at it! What a bitch!
  15. Yes , Wayne! I still remember your '03-'04 I think it was, gawd what power! The only bike I can recall more nuts was Ray's hopped up Beta! Just scarey! But even with the dellorto, I recall power like a freight train out of the 4T, I recently heard Caby is liking it too! It IS a bad ass if you twist it! But I think you would find the '08 2T much much more gentile than you recall, still perky, but not as smooth as the 4T! If my estimations are correct! I see that Ronnie is all set to blow off the big$$$$ for the 300 kit on the Beta so he can show off! It is probably on order already! And he could have got a Sherco!
  16. No p*** taking intended GJ, think that was more of a "oh REALLY!" comment towards Pete. You see, it is a very specilized process for those in the trade. Untill you have examined some of this stuff under an electron microscope, you may not quite realize exactly wot hoes on here, thd the pro's do not want to be the ones paying for the damages if something does not work out! Several decades ago, I too was in the motorcycle trade, and we had an old Itialian boreing bar in the shop. As there were no digital instruments at that time, no less CNC gear, a proper rebore of a steel 2T hole could be a bit of a challenge and depended much upon how good you are at measure and fit! We would cut the hole, finish fit with the straight hone, then put the cross hatch in with the balls, chamfer the ports by hand. All takes a bit of skill, but that was how it was done, down to .01 mm or so. I have no idea what you can do with the nikasil and the newer bikes, but with fitted pistons you should likely be able to make some things work. As I am nothing better than a builder anylonger, I let the machinists do their thing and I do mine. If it does not work out, I send the bits back and they pay the labor! A 4T can be a different animal as far as oil control goes. I can tell you horror stories with re-chromed bores used in aircraft engines. God, I hate them things, would prefer to see a oversized steel cylender any day, even with a ****ty hone job! But I just stick with the cars by trade nowdays. These things can really screw with you as well. And much of this you cannot actually see with the naked eye! So yes, I can get by with murder on my own little experiment! It could well cost me if I did it for hire! If your's is screwed up, you are likely to get a new one! Botch your own, or it might just work? Best thing I can tell the novices is to remove aluminum transfre with muratic acid diluted about 50/50 with water, and polish score marks a bit using 320 grit crocus cloth and oil following the natural crosshatch. If your problem is bigger than that, you should consider sending it off to a specialist! Hope that helps!
  17. I think a 4T would be great for you, probably me too! Although I have not had a chance to ride one of the new ones(as it seems there were only two brought in in late '07)! I have some reservations about the added power of the Kiehin on the newer ones, probably not near as mellow as Ron's little 250 Beater. One of the two was up for grabs at a nice price from Chris Cullins, and should be near perfect! Mike Young has the other. Save a couple grand? Wot, 6 months old? Not sure WHITE is my color yet! My thoughts, MC
  18. You should be able to pick up a bike from this decade at a reasonable price! Make you chunk the old Kawa! Carry on man!
  19. You see there, it takes a diploma and balls ! Simple!
  20. Must be cold in PA, Jon! Everything has shrunk! How's it hangin Charlie?
  21. Maybe you can work some lapping compound into it and work it to a polished state? Or possibly just take a BFH and beat it into submission!
  22. Most report that good old WD-40 works as good as anything!

    2.9 Torque Specs

This is true, and I believe the listed specs should make proper allowence and be safe. Had Zipper stripped his crankshaft threads, I would have been the first to use your quote and tell him he was stupid for not knowing that! I plan to do a bit more verification on the factory settings, specially on the main case through bolts, soon as I can find my damn inch pounder with the dial on it! You know, break a few loose, measure, then put them back the same, measure! I can tell you from witness what happens when you misread and apply 10 ft/lb instead of 10nm(88 in/lb) to those head nuts! The 6mm studs simply twist in two! Ant the nut does not care! Was not me, thankfully!
  24. Must have been a very special bike!
  25. Pete, what do you use on the nikasil ? A ball hone or a straight one?
