Just because it dies does not mean it is rich with fuel, it is choked with oil! It there is insufficient fuel remaining in the ratio, the mixture will not ignite! It is NOT a diesel!

It seems carbon reeds are a bit stiffer than fiberglass like the Boyesens, much as the factory reeds. This makes them a bit more "rippy" off the bottom, and may be touted as increasing low end power. As everything is a trade off in two stroke tuning, the ones like the Boyesens which are capable of giving more on top, actually seem to have a bit of the opposite effect on the lower revs which gives a smoothing effect, at least up to a point! Seems quite a few have come to appreciate this when trying to tame a 2.9 for the average clubman. I ran them in my "05 2.5 as well and it was really sweet! The hot setup!

I have a 125 barrel and head. The barrel is ok, but could use a hone job. The head needs rework or replaced. New piston and rings a neccessity! PM if interisted, very reasonable, no profits here!

I use 3/16 ID Tygon on almost everything. In metric sizes i think it would be about 5mm ID and 8mm OD. Hope that helps!

It smoothes the power a bit by lowering the pressure in your wallet! They are very gentle (on the wallet) off the bottom and still have a good bit of hit in the mid while sharpening up the top end!(which I seldom use!)

There is a company that makes a sealer for such purposes but I cannot recall the name. Basically a vacume is applied and the crack cleaned with solvent such as brake cleaner, sucking it through to flush it, then the sealer is sucked into the crack to seal it! I suppose you could use super glue to perform the task, at least it would give some void filling prior to covering with epoxy? Just a thought! (no pun intended)!

So what sort of van is it Dabster has? And I suppose the Vito is smaller than the Sprinter? The new Sprinter here runs a 3.0 V-6 diesel, but all the older ones have the straight 5 motor. And exactly what are the prices for fuel in UK?

Zipper, you have to understand, it gets really hot here and a large beer cooler is a must! And bikes have to go a bit slanted in the short bed trucks. Of course I could use the hitch rack!

This recent article I seen on the MSN was talking about how folk relate to the MPG (miles per gallon) figures on US vehicles, and do not relate it to actual dollars! Makes me wonder what the comparison is with the euro vans and such, which are popular as it seems, of which we have few. Only the Sprinter(Merc) comes to mind, and they can be huge, depending upon configuration. I have not seen and cannot really relate to some of the others talked about here. Diesel or gas, what do you run? What does it cost? As the PU truck is still the standard here, and I feel somewhat fortunate as things go, to be able to load bike and gear into the big Dodge Cummins powered turbodiesel and make a trip to our local riding area some 100 miles away, and achieve better than 21 mpg, which translates into about 7 miles per dollar! I suppose if sharing a ride, we could fit 2 bikes and gear in full comfort no problem, for a 2 day trip as we have done it. Three riders and bikes are possible in a crunch, but forget the spares lockers, basics only! Anyway, at 7 miles per dollar, how does that compare?

I guess someone has found that OJ Racing stuff, anyway, the Maxima looks close, I think! Wonder where the ATF fits in there? I never use it in the forks as it is required to have too much stiction! Viscosity is not everything you know!

I would think it would be easy to bend the conn rod if you packed the top end with water. Be careful to measure that the piston is coming all the way up to the top, if not, the rod is bent and will break in the middle, wiping out the cases! Better to save it now than take the risk!

7075 T-6 alloy is the stuff, about .186(3/16) thick! You cannot really form this stuff in it's hardened state, the formed ones are heat treated after forming. U cannot weld it either! You may be able to do some cold forming on it with a proper press setup, but the bend radius is very limited. To get the strength out of a more forgiving alloy like 6061, you would need to go to at least .250 thick ! Even though it is much more flexable and weldable, you better be set up to do it!
