Dave,
M7 is unusual but not THAT unusual. I know that years ago I sourced M7 bolts in Stainless from a local warehouse called Metric and Multistandard Supply in Dallas. I think they are still around for the lookup! I'm sure they have minimums nowadays!
Hope that helps!
-
I don't get it! Don't Scotts and Brits do the same thing for beer?
-
I measured what I think you just described and came out 15mm on my '07!
-
Don't get your panties all wadded, Ish! Not pointed at you, but really goes to show the difference as there are many dedicated trials dealers like yourself. These are not only dealers but KEY figures in clubs, events, support, promotion of the sport in their area. But yet the question comes up as per your own proposal.
IF, it was decided to go importer direct from the three(or maybe 4) we have, where would that leave YOU? What would your position then be? And the other key folks as well? Will you carry parts for the brand still, or maybe for all?
Would this be a relief in a way from HAVING to attend EVERY local, regional and national event in your part of the world just to provide support to a few? Will someone do it?
I do not know all the answers! Just throwing up what seems like valid questions!
The possible implications are somewhat overwhelming in a way!
-
Is that not the way it is usually done in politics?
-
You could be right there as well, Ish! I gave up on the high cost racing years ago(body and bikes)!
But all this being said, I gather that yourself as a dealer would simply prefer to just broker or deliver bikes and take your pittance as a comission? Forget about local support and all that comes with it? Or just be a Carmax? Hello, we whore bikes! Anything you want, at a profit! What to buy? What to sell?
Oh, you need service! We do not do that unless it is quick easy money! Otherwise go see a real dealer!
-
Have you ever considered BLUE or SILVER or even Rainbow stickers as compared to Skulls and GG red?
-
The Regina EBXL is definately not the cheapest chain. As Mark stated it is a trials specific chain, lighter and stronger and they may use them on the Monts as well.
Funny thing as I did a bit of lookup on this as well a while back. Seems there WAS a US importer several years ago but that has gone, unless you want to get the OEM part number at a premium price, not sure what that would be?
I figure I can get two years out of one using nothing but the WD40! Cannot complain!
-
No prob, Pat's on the 125! Just because you get beat by a girl on a factory Mont that cannot hop is no problem at all!
He will be fine! Just be cool and do your thing Pat, everything is ok! GO RIDE!
And stop listening to Craig! SHUT UP!

As Martin stated, the exchange rates make things very difficult. Peeps have to have expendable cash for toys!
Other factors come into play such as the cost of fuel to events and such.
As an example, and as I recall, the avreage 2T cost about $5000 in 2001 when I was looking at new bikes. Same bikes today around $7250, which is an increase of 50%! If you want a 4T add a grand or so! Used bike prices still sag and the cost to upgrade or flip for a new one has doubled as well it seems!
All being said, I simply have to be more selective on bikes and trips nowdays because there are limits on expendable cash! As that has certainly not increased over time!
I would also venture to guess that many of us are in the same boat!
-
Snowbirds! Look at that snow, that is just sick! It was about 80f here today!
And if I had to say, someone needs to tell Biff not ot put the whole bike in the powdercoat oven! It seems kinda harsh on the rest of the plastics and gas tank! It could explode!

Now that Ariel looks like a nice fun ride, if you live in Arizona where it only rains 3 times a year! May be a bit like riding a bike to work in the UK!
I hope you have a separate bank account set up for tires and brakes on that Audi! You will need it!
-
I think Al Bechard had the best pics and advice on cutting the old one openand cutting out the spotwelds!
-
Ish is right again! Only action I can get is putting the wifey on the back of the little Suzy quad! Damn rough ride, she has to hang on to something!
-
Dude, you need to get that bike running so you can snort some 2 stroke fumes in the shed!
-
Clark, Just go get yourself some of them pantyhose the fat black girls wear. They will keep you a lot warmer this time of year and still give you the Texas Tan look on them white legs!
Keep you from having a falling out with the checkers too!
They work as liners for them knee braces too, RL!
-
It is obvious that niether importer nor dealers can afford to sit on inventory that is either tying up funds or costing them money!
Trying to maintain margins on old stock is an act of futility!
Yet at the same time, I can see where the "buddy deal" , pushing a crate out of the warehouse for someone who imports them is at least helping some importer get a bike outof his warehouse and into someones hands who wants it! That dealer is the one who suffered!
Now if I myself, mr nobody, called up mr motodiksalot and said "I want you to broker a bike deal and have the new model SHAKESALOT delivered to my door in the factory box because I do not want yours or anyone elses grubby hands toutching the friggin thing before I get to it and the check is on the way at $150 over your cost for the trouble of making a call! The money will be in your bank long before you are invoiced for the bike so shut up and dance stupid!
I wish I could be on the dealer end of this about 20 times a year just to flip some bucks! You got a warranty problem, call the importer! Long distance relationships are good in that way! Remember that ******* you sold a new bike to and had to listen to his whining bullshiiiite for the next six months! All for a $500 profit!
-
We have covered this before, but it basically comes down to replacing them unless you have a tig machine in the shed!
As far as "when"? When they sound bad enough to warrant it and de-coking does no good!
-
I usually have one or two of these sitting around the shop needing a good test drive. Cannot go 400kph like the Bugger car, but you can buy one for each day of the week as compared to it. Settling for a mere 300kph plus is OK when you get old like me!
Although I should add that even 500horses and 525 ft/lb of torque does not get me going like it used to. Speed is not everything! With the big diesel truck you get spoiled as you can go from mild(325hp/600ft/lb) to wild(450hp/890ft/lb) depending upon how much smoke you want to make that day. Just dial in the magic box!
One of them little boxy euro cars would never do!
-
Gee, that makes me want to run out and get one of them fine French made things!
When pigs fly!
-
Seems we always have a few adventurous snowbirds show for a good time down here during the winter months. Ben Winterer comes to mind! And last time he brought Bear with him! The Sooner Cup event will be the premier event this year and all are invited! There will folks from all over the place, just like Patrick that will come to enjoy the riding and make a week of it!
-
Dare I even mention LUCAS ELECTRICS?
I was always told that LUCAS refrigerators were the reason the brits came to like hot beer!
And wahts that little ****ty car they are importing, the MINI Cooper? If you ever put a clutch in one it will make you want to buy a Toyota! A total engineering nightmare! Someone should be SHOT!
-
As this is really a different animal(presume you are running the dellorto) sounds as though you need to clean the carby and verify the float height as well.
I recommend you start a new thread on this if you continue to have problems.
-
Therin lies a paradox. You see, I can never drink enough of that cheap Oklahoma 3.2 beer to really feel like dancing, but if I fuel up RLracer with a few of them Texas beers and introduce him to Clark in his KILT, I figure we should be in for some REAL entertainment!
