    I'm Back

Maybe we need to pit Phillip against Icegirl as well! C'mon you little smartie pants! Can you E-cross? Or do you just cross your leggs?
  2. Good job then! Cannot help but remembering my early years, the motor was usually found on mom's kitchen table when it got too cold outside! Remember a later year with a motorless Maico setting on the balcony of a 2'nd level apartment, kitchen table again! That beat doing it all in the back of the van. Cost too much to keep the motor running for heat! Zipper, are you listening?
  3. I just think it is a bit petty really, sending letters and all that. He was just p****d because he got a proper butt kicking! He knew exactly what he was doing! Shame on him for showing off! I do agree with Craig, as the finals need to be "run what u brung" and "best rider wins", tough ta ta's! Grow up and get with it if you are gonna do this type of competition! You have to remember the fact that it is all about promoters making money, not about the riders, they could care less!
  4. Actually reminds me of a place in Hawaii we visited a few years back, rain in the hills most days, just beyond the village, 85F and cool nights, all you need is BLUE water!
  5. A good reverse example of this would be the fact that in most piston engined aircraft flying at high altitude, the magnetos must be pressurized using bleed air off the turbochargers in order to prevent the sparks from arcing to the wrong places at the wrong times! All with just the loss of maybe 1/2 normal atmospheric pressure at altitude!
  6. I would say, That Sucks! Oh well! Go figure!
  7. In a way it is sort a relief to see from the responses from the Brits, Scots and others the fact that this politically and sexually correct BS has come out of hand! Just another excuse to keep some jerk in a job bases upon the latest accusation and lawsuit! Seems we must fear every word that may be used against us at any point in the future, or any jesture! Several at work contend they cannot even spank the kids buns without fear of repercussions! God forbid a politition with an opinion actually voice it! They would be shunned! Hope I get a chance ti see a few at the US WTC if nothing better than to spank their bottoms and issue just a bit of verbal abuse, just to keep things NORMAL, that is, for normal folk!
  8. You see, Zipper does not really even have to go that far from home to get the same results! Just goes to show you the type of things these motors must try to encounter! Another reason why the factory may elect to go with a C4 bearing, or with a special coating to do something! If wou wash water through the filter it is guaranteed to take the DIRT with it! As compared to a paper filter, they have NO resistance! And even the best filters are only efficient down to a certain size particle that may pass, there is ALWAYS normal wear and tear! Fine dust here in the dry summer can be maybe worse than any mud or dirt you may normally encounter! Well oiled filter is your only hope!
  9. Basically that is all it is for, to reduce RF emissions, however I understand that some bikes require the resistor plugs and stuff that may serve to protect some sensitive electrics on some high voltage issues! Not an issue on the Sherco, as you want the lowest resistance possible on them. These ignition systems have no EXCESS power to tolerate increased resistance. But things like running the VX plug(non resistor) can allow minor improvments to starting and running. Seems I can open the VX (plat)up a bit from .6mm to .7mm for a bit better lighting of the fire, and with no problems encountered. Seems the Irridium plug only comes in the resistor type, which still has some advantage in properties, but the resistor nullifies some of that, so I would be hesitant to open the gap up much. Although these issues seem minor and insignifigant, you can multiply 10x under the laws of air density under comression at that ratio! Air is a good resistor in itself to the flow of electrons! So that ignition system must be able to throw them 10x further in free air than under compression due to increased air density, so your .6mm just became 6mm in free air, and so fourth! Think about that! If you raise the engine compression too far, it WILL NOT SPARK! Same with any type of low output or high resistance in the circuit! Hope that keeps things relativel!

    I'm Back

Ya see there, Craig is a pretty gamey fellow! No spring chickens here! No need to make on ordeal out of it, just one good round, midway between east and west BFE, say Colorado! TDN donations are a good idea, I'll bet I could even get someone to donate for a REAL trophy for the winner!
  11. I am afraid you would have to figure a way to inject something to lubricate the thing! On a wet sump 4T motor it's not a problem!
  12. Sounds like you have a good grip on things then. Nothing wrong with conventional SKF bearings in my mind, as honestly it is a very conventional 2T motor. Did you get the "C3"? Once again, I seem to attribute bearing problems with DIRT entering the motor, more than bearing mfg. or design. Although I am sure there is some reasoning behind the factory decisions to use what they do.
  13. I do recall seeing this before, not sure why, but they do not seem to work well! Did not figure the geometry, just tossed it!

    I'm Back

Gee, I will be happy to hold the pot on that one! May I suggest a simple $1000.00 pot and a mere $500 deposit per rider!
  15. So you have not said where yu are getting the restof the lot! Case and cyl gaskets, head o-rings, don't say yu are reusing everything!
  16. Hey Dude, Whats up? I did not undurstand anything you just said cause my French is not too good. I think you said that your old bike is a POS! I heard they have new ones there but with Yamaha motors, Ck it out! Later Dude!
  17. Hey, if that is the worst thing that happens, it's OK! No nose rings or Tat's PLEASE! Although maybe we could get Dale and Marv some matching earrings!
  18. There is an old guy named Ray Peters that lives out there somewhere. You should track him down as he can show you the ropes!
  19. Yea, I think the factory bearings are ceramic coated or something special too! Worth checking into! You gotta call someone to get the gaskets and other seals, so do it right!
  20. So who got all the money?
  21. More importantly, did you find Mich or Clive? We want pics!
  22. Las time you seen flaired nostrils was wen you put pencils up them! Although I have to say you are right! Ha! Has more hair than me under the navel! Back view is probably better!

    Chain Tensioning

Rule of Thumb, it should just pass between the tensioner block and swingarm when setting tension!
  24. Good job Vince! Say hello to all, and keep an eye on Craig and Clive !
