  1. what is claimed weight difference Reposl to RR Std Mont to rr
  2. Bike is easier to start if stopped via kill button/lanyard rather than deliberately stalling it.
  3. 6 week oil change if riding every week and then oil and filter change every 12 seems to work ok. Crf filters available for £2 to £3 if you look about. Probably cheaper than 2 stroke oil
  4. Just checking you are stopping it with the kill button
  5. I was the only one to clean a snotty section this Sunday even with a used X liite - maybe I'm just brill I'm old - I can only dream of quick action riding - just the old girl do her thing and she will repay you -horse for courses

    Mapping Switching

As a side note -I put the beginners map on a 2010 with s3 pipe for a friend and was surprised at how nice it was to ride -verrrrry smoooooth but still had some go in it.
  7. I think the question was quality not how they ride. We all know that people prefer different bikes etc and that's down to choice. Quality is a more definable
  8. "/cartography/images/everest/everest_1925" That's a high altitude map Sorry couldn't resist it.
  9. They need guards to stop excess dirt getting in the air box - As standard they are probably as good or better than any other bike with conventional air box under the seat - fine as standard but can be improved with a bit of mesh on mudguard or the under seat add on but those 2 mods will make it as good as anything. They need a better sump guard -if you are on big rock or a hard or bad rider there are better sump shield than std Frames cracking near the foot rest hangers. - very very few - probably with aftermarket hangers The angle sensor failing. - take it off Problems with the cam chain tensioner -?????. The side stand is rubbish.- you can buy aftermarket if you want but I have no problem with mine. A bit of weld every 12 months is fine Starting issues. - technique more than anything So are they really built that much better than other bikes? - take a 5 year old Mont to bits and do the same with a beta etc and compare - no need to do it with a GASGAS as it will already be in bits. Most Mont owners keep there bikes longer than a 2t and average age of a 4rt competing is probably older than a 2ts

    Mapping Switching

Hi Dave, maybe you'll have to down load 2 wildly differing maps to see if you can tell a difference
  11. I have TLR 200 and seems to suit having 2 four strokes.
  12. Its a trials bike so damage protection is my priority over trying to keep it looking new for resale purposes. essential case saver for front sprocket heavy duty bash plate stick on case protectors as a better bash plate provides additional protection for cases and water pump. If you are really prone to dropping the bike (very good or very bad rider) then carbon case covers may be the way forward Fork covers -abs or carbon
  13. Have used ATF in monts for probably 15 years with good results. An automatic gearbox clutch pack is very similar to a trials clutch. I even made my own gasgas clutch plates using automatic gearbox friction material several years ago. Have not tried any of the recent oils but when I did try some alternatives the ATF was best option.
  14. No No No - I got a horse if I want to go blasting across the common and that's crazier than any trail bike. Dubious handling, random steering, dodgy brakes and a mind of its own -brill fun
  15. personally find x lite the best.

    4Rt Fork Seals

Hi Woody = are they std Monts or the repsol. (tech and showa forks) I fancy I had some seepage on my std 15 initially but seem ok now.
  17. Thought I was organised - sent mine off this week only to be told I only made the reserve list which is fine. My only comment is going back to one of Mike Rapley's post from last year reference no show at nationals "At the Jack Wood S3 Championship Trial on March 29, of the 156 riders entered there were 29 non-starters. At the Powys Trial a week later, also a round of the S3 Championship, of the 73 entries, 17 failed to take part and then on the following day at the Lomax also an S3 round, there was an entry of 120 – the maximum the club were prepared to accept – and a massive 34 preferred to stay at home." I've never ridden the Vic Britain and maybe Jan trials are well supported as every body is keen but if like the Lomax riders enter and do not turn up would be a great shame to both organisers and riders like myself who may miss out on a ride. If people are not able to ride trials once entered a quick email/phone call can help everybody and is only decent manners.
  18. Original Honda/Montesa are Galfer and found they work well. Used to run Goldfren sintered pads in winter to give some extra life in the mud etc but recently just stick with Galfer all year. Strip and clean pads every ride and quick deglaze seems to give best performance
  19. PS As the lever is different you are less likely to be able to borrow one should you need to
  20. my 05 was std, 09 had Nissin, my 15 std mont is original. cant say I notice much difference or miss it . The nissin if grabbed to hard was almost too powerful if you are in a bit of a mess. The repsol has different caliper to std 15 so presume is a tad better anyway. Save your money and spend it on good brake pads instead.
  21. Fuel pump or fuel pump filter? Does it get worse when hot. See if you swap a tank to eliminate
  22. Every single time the bike goes out, couple of spare filters so always a clean one available makes the job easy. also Brake pads out as well every ride. oil chain Polish That's it for a mont
  23. I think - Pre 09 to post 09 - a little better Pre 14 to post 14 - a little better So an 07 to 16 you would see an improvement - mainly smoother power and less tendency for front to push out on corners. However a well sorted pre 14 to a std 16 probably not much difference but for whatever reason the latest do feel that bit nicer and a new bike always feels better even if the marks dropped stay the same.
  24. Sandifords, M Sport, foreign Mont specialist - Mont dealer? Various maps are good and if you choose the correct one for your needs is a top mod

    If Aldi Did 4Rts

FYI - bought 2015 std Mont at very good price. Fitted my old bits as above. Picked up a good value Ohlins on Flea bay - thinks its better but hard to really. Like the front tech forks - front feels better than my old 09 Put a pre 2014 rear mudguard on as fed up with getting wet. Bike is spot on and love riding it. Personally would only change a front pipe to a larger di to soften power unless you have lots of money to spend.
