Munch at M sport does just a pump at a better than Honda price. Sure he would post one out if P&P was covered.
-
Tidied my in box now!!
Ally support bracket would be interesting - keep a copy of your template I may want to copy it. I have also seen more compact capacitors available but not sure of effectivness/reliability?
Have you seen the Alloy fuel pump mounts/tank bottom to go with your flattened top -looks a good weight saving.
-
Mine was done when I bought it but having looked since its just had a link put in the relevant multiplug at the back of the engine. I think its probably an air box and throttle body off to get access.
Never had an issue when I though - wish I had one. If you go for a lanyard kill switch at same time then probably more protection with a much simpler solution.
Best of luck - pm me if no better responses.

Welcome aboard Kev
Neath trial this Sunday in Tonna and Welsh Champ 2nd round next week in Glynneath if you want to pick some more contacts.
Also search Project 2000 for trials training days in South Wales

Don't they have Beta's on the Swale then

Standard gearing works for me - 1st is long if you choose to use it but still ok for slow stuff especially with a soft bottom end to the map. If you gear it down seems to take away from 1st so you ride things in 2nd which kind of defeats the object. Unless you hardly use the clutch for tight turns std seems fine. With tight turns and clutch I try and hold the throttle just above tick over and try and keep constant engine revs and then modulate the clutch for required speed/forward momentum, Blipping the throttle and slipping the clutch does not seem as good a solution.
-
They grip fine just different. As said above ride on the throttle not clutch. Hang over the back and believe they will grip and they do. If you use the clutch - build up the revs then keep it smooth and let it out steady. Once you have momentum ease off and ride it on the throttle -easy!!/
One thing I have noticed is that tyres last longer as you are not spinning and burning. Also found same technique works n TLR so must be a 4 stroke thing.
What ever you do don't spin the motor and drop the clutch halfway up a climb like on a 2T as you will be going backwards. Old stylie does it.
-
Now that there are a few new 4rts about has anybody got a back to back comparison of an old 4rt compared to the new models. Are they better, same or just different. Anybody got any inside info on the engine braking reduction. I've heard this can be done to older models. Is this a software mod or hardware mod. Evidently nothing obviously mechanically different. Is engine braking a bad thing or has it been done to help people switch from 2t
-
I think it is effectively a double blip but rather than waiting for the front wheel to hit the obstacle the rider uses body weight/movement to instigate the suspension lift which is then supported by throttle and body extension. This combined with lots of bottle and skill especially indoors!!!
-
Probably call it a "Bou Bounce".
-
Unfortunately most riders below expert/intermediate would ride better on a lower powered bike. How many racing reps do you see with head gaskets, lower gearing, flywheel weights etc. The one beauty of a repsol is that it has no more power than a std Mont and with a PTB can be much softer. Trouble with lots of modern products including trials bikes is that people don't necessarily buy what makes them perform better but what they believe makes them look better. How many modern phones are actually rubbish at making calls and have minimal battery life?

Get used to using the kill button. Never stall the bike - always use stop button as this seems to stop bike in the correct sequence. Also when starting get used to the quick snap of the throttle then push kill button before kicking over with no throttle. If it doesn't start after a couple of slow progressive prods then slow kick, throttle wide open then a few presses on kill button and resume normal start procedure.
Wheels look like a lazy option rather than being stripped right down!!!!
-
Just remembered a big must - case saver on sprocket side - may save you big money if not already fitted.
-
jj65 has it about covered. Brake parts are common with other trials bikes with the AJP calipers etc. Oil filter common with CRF 250. ATF can be used in gearbox with good results. Air filter cleaned every ride and don't try and start the bike with a freshly oiled air filter.Leave it on the bench for an hour before fitting it. Solvents seem to confuse the injection system. Munch at M Sport is a top contact if you have any issues or for parts etc
-
Look like 315R Mont ones from the 2001 models etc
-
This experiment raised several questions:
* In a common-place environment, at an inappropriate hour, do we perceive beauty?
* If so, do we stop to appreciate it?
* Do we recognize talent in an unexpected context?
One possible conclusion reached from this experiment could be this:
"Even a really well played violin sounds like a strangled cat."
Give me a 4rt on full chat any time!!

Did you weigh each assembly before and after. The quoted saving is quiet good for relatively reasonable money when last I looked. I did think about having 1 machined myself but was unsure of pump fitting, hose fitting and cable sealing etc.
Was going to look at possibly increasing fuel capacity around the pump to make up for loss with flat tank.

This is a story about four 4 trials riders who are all members of the same club:
Everybody rides a Beta
Somebody rides a GasGas,
Anybody rides a Sherco,...
and Nobody rides a 4rt.
It was suggested that the club should have some land to practice on and as this was an important job to sort out Everybody was asked to do it.
Everybody was sure Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody
wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when actually Nobody asked Anybody
-
67.5 kg at the start of a trial- 65kg at the end after all the bits have broken and fallen offf
-
even easier - buy a 4 stroke
-
Was just suggesting ideas off the top of my head as to why extra weight may be beneficial. Anyway is that why the Americans also go to the expense of inventing straight roads rather than making cars with handling!!!!
-
Wouldn't be a Beta with the leaky carb then.
Use the marginal increase in minimum weight to increase silencers and drop noise levels would be a move in the right direction. How about shaft drive - no chain lube to wash out. Fuel injection - no float bowl to leak or spills when tipped over. All above have weight penalties against doing them and unfortunately cost implications too but may be the burden of being allowed to play in the woods in the future
-
Start, end of every lap and at the finish. Takes 2 seconds. Supply jet wash to rinse of worst of the mud and then weigh. If a bike is ok when clean then they are going to be safe with dirt on. Really is so easy to enforce.
-
Before everybody starts burning witches at the stake what is the weight of a 2013 bike with oil in the engine and a full tank of fuel. Lets talk from a point of knowledge rather than promotional brochures. Also all those stories of bikes having broken swing arms, wheel bearing not lasting 5 mins, suspension bushes seizing, mudguards that shatter when you breath on then think what a couple of kg applied to properly engineering critical components would make to resale values, running cost etc. Every kart race I have been to had the karts weighed as they came in at the end of the race so dead easy to do - any yes you include fuel same as F1.
