  1. "Again great to get Johns answer, opinion and facts, but my question that hasn't been clearly answered is, What at the end of 2012 will measure whether the change to no stop has been a success? " Presume as happens every year all interested parties will be invited to the annual BTC meeting held by the ACU and 2012 will be discussed and reviewed and an agrement made for 2013. I think maybe a few more people may attend this year than in the past few years!
  2. Switch plugs into a spare socket already there in the wiring loom under head stock already if I recall correctly. PTB just replaces original one. You then need leads, software, computer with an serial port or you will need a USB/serial port adapter, and a 12v battery. For 2 map software must be the 07 version. Maps must also be modded for a 2 map set up. Have search through past threads and all info there I believe
  3. The coconut water is the next big thing. I was advised this a while ago as high in potasium but was not very popular to get hold of. At a recent food exhibition I went to via work there where several stands now selling and importing this stuff. Evidently Coke a Cola etc are investing big into this stuff. Personally I have fruit loaf and plenty to drink for brekkie and then alternate energy drinks/squash/etc and funs size choc bars during the day if a big trial. The handy small drinks in a flexible plastic container with straw are idael to stick in a bum bag etc and you don't have to worry about leaving cans and litter as weigh next to nothing to take back to the van at the end of the day.
  4. Message from John Collins Re posts about Rd 2 British Championship I have read all the posts, and while not particularly wishing to once more go into the same old arguments, there are quite a few things I think need comment, not least the inclination of a few to stray a fair bit away from the truth I am certainly not ducking the questions or explanation, but as Andy has informed , at present for some reason the TC site will not let me respond to posts ( I know some may think this is a good thing) As soon as this is sorted out I will try to comment of some issues raised John Collins
  5. Epic FAIL -was a good trial and DV are a helpful bunch. I think Neath A grade on 10th is next WSW trial. Not sure about ESW
  6. Dulais Valley trial Sunday - Dons Cafe - Rhigos - on old road between Hirwaun and Glyneath. 11.00am start. Spectators, helpers always welcome
  7. Hi Mike As above but look also for Project 2000 - we do training and have some smaller bikes that can be hired for a morning/afternoon to let your son have a go for minimal outlay
  8. Not sure on rear wheel I have in the past either welded holes in the footrest brackets and redrilled or increased the holes up to 10mm and used larger bolts. Std hangers are not that expensive and often appear second hand I always weld a small fillet underneath the brackets and find they are much stronger that way. A blob of weld on the mating face of the footrest will rasie it up above the horizontal.
  9. A little bit off post but reflecting Cubbys comment it was interesting riding the Victory on Sunday and seeing floating turns etc making a real comeback as the better riders where able to line themselves up on the move rather than the now stop allowed break everything down into a hop and and blast approach.
  10. Thought it was brill. Especially the sunny weather they ordered for the second 1/2 of the trial. The inclusion of 2 routes for the first time certainly made the easier option a real pleasure to ride. Some of the old toughies where still left in but everthing was rideable I thought. A late number certainly helped. The harder route definately looked up a level from the single route last year but wouldn't be fair for me to comment other than a well done to Ross on his debut JTG ride and also what a pleasure it was to ride round and watch Dans super smooth style. As they say on BGT its a yes from me! PS - running in the alternative direction to normal also helped freshen things up.
  11. Yep - all the above. Cracking bit of land above Glyneath. Venue has a really good stream, some banks and bogs and last year a section rocky outcrop area. One thing for sure it won't be dry and dusty
  12. As a side issue and ignoring the ongoing no stop/stop allowed debate and having looked down the lower end of the champ class results it must be said what cracking rides the top boys must of had as some very good riders still dropped 50 plus marks so no walk in the park. Maybe early numbers suffered a little if the sections where green but credit still due I think.
  13. Good luck to all riders, officials and spectators. Lets hope it all goes well and proves to be a cracking event.
  14. Had problem on mine with the harder sintered pads - I think they wear at an angle and then cause pistons to lock. Fitted new originals and my problem went away.
  15. Really dont understand the fuss with getting tyres off trials rims - put wheel on the floor ideally with something about an 1" under opposite side of rim (bit of wood or concrete lip at end of garage ) and stick your heel in to the bead. Jump up and down a few times and job done. Worked for me for last 10plus years -(Mich and IRC).
  16. There are bearings in the shock - top and bottom. There should be minimal if no play vertically.
  17. I sealed mine with silicon first then riveted through. Had no problem. Maybe silicon stops any vibration and fretting?
  18. I think it worked about an inch
  19. I left the top face of the top frame tube intact and cut a v through the lower parts of the frame and gusset. I measured distance from spindle and steering head to wall in front. Then set to same dims as my 4rt. seemed to work. Lost about 1" on wheelbase which I have added to swing arm to get back to approx 52"
  20. Makes a big difference. Need to ensure footrest position are correct and also adjust wheelbase as will be shorter after mod

    Best 315r Year

Last few years was best -2003/2004. Basically the same but 04 had white plastics. Major upgrade was 2000 model then tweaks to 03. Best of luck
  22. Have you reconneted the two plugs where the old loom came out. I think 2 white multi plugs under the tank 1 male and 1 female -can't be exact as its been a long time. The lighting loom forms a full circuit when in place - if you have disconneceted it all the it will be obvious which plugs need to be reconnected.n
  23. Easy on - just take fork tops off. Running 5wt as specified in manual and std springs. Not sure what you want to change to. Drop forks out of yokes makes it easier.
  24. Sam didn't dab or appear to dab with any part of his body. Momentary pause on a hard section. Could have been a five with a strict observer but probably a sensible clean given. Dan's ride was 100% a clean but with modern brakes, suspension and on very tight sections I think Sams was acceptable. And for the stop allowed boys this only being as leinient as allowing riders to travel backwards under the guise of going sideways or balancing.
