  1. Think you can buy perforated tube for motcross silencers if you don't fancy drilling a million holes
  2. If you want to save money in the long run buy a compressor or spare rear wheel. Then manage your good, part worn and well worn tyres to suit what you, the weather and venue are doing. Had 1 new IRc and 1 new Xlite this year and still both in ok condition and have ridden 3 S3s, 10 Normandales, 2 Welsh champs numerous centre hard, evening and esay trials and a fair few practice sessions.
  3. If I recall it should locate either end onto snall spigots on end caps. Also seem to think it was S shaped but can't be certain. Have a look at some of the previuos post and see if you can get a pdf of assembly drawing
  4. Suprising how many new bike blurbs start with the phrase new graphics. All marketing hype year on year to make you think you want a new bike or maybe you need to replace a year old bike that has worn out!!!!
  5. If they can't get up a grassy bank even if it is a 4rt then no great loss. Simple throttle control and body weight - simples!!! Red or white wine. Just enjoyed red so you probaly hate that and had white.
  6. Them inner tube things nearly worked apart from getting holes in that required them having to be taken out of the tyre and have patches glued on rather than dog turds a tubless tyre that takes 2 mins.
  7. Had IRC on 4rt rim this year and no problems lossing air. Did have it come off the rim tho without puncturing first, but maybe just running too low a pressure. Regardless of loosing air don't find them as good as a michelin anyway
  8. Shame best mod between std and Repsol. Would get std 2012 bike and buy a PTB with savings
  9. should have tried a 4rt instead -may still be riding trials
  10. Fit genuine Honda chain -bout
  11. Dabster - I think the thought is no stop would reduce severity or at least remove some of the do or die stuff which is only possible when an inch perfect line can be achieved. However your probably right in thinking that it ain't going to magically generate any more top quality riders or provide significant more sponsorship money to allow riders to travel round the country or world. If Bou and co rode no stop they would still be in a class of their own. Likewise in Britain James/Michael and co would still be able to master sections we lesser mortals could only dream of. It does though appear to work at S3 level etc where tough sections can be ridden by club-men yet take marks off the top boys. I guess time will tell
  12. Run a nice soft map and maybe down a tooth on the front and I see no drawbacks but I'm biased. Will be a bit heavier than GasGas but very good suspension and build quality. Post 2009 bikes are better if looking for second hand.
  13. Have a quick search through recent forums - think similar post was put up not so long ago. However probably bent selector shaft or damaged fork. I think clutch cover off and have a look to see whats happening. Best of luckhttp://www.trialscentral.com/forums/topic/38319-4rt-gearchange-problem/
  14. Anybody have accurate weight figures for say the latest gasgas frame compared to a evo frame for example. Ignoring swing arm and suspension etc. Might be a cost/compactness issue rather than weight?
  15. I think the Sains map is quiet heavy on fuel hence dark plug. Probably only way to get a true reading is to hold throttle open at 1/4 revs for a min or so and then hit kill button. However I have run std plug on Sains map for several years and now a slightly modified softer Sains map and bike runs fine and plugs last for as long as I want to leave them in. Therefore would say if bike runs well and to your liking and is not using oil don't worry about the plug colour. Just rely on the fact the clever Japs have got it right- I do.
  16. The switch to ally frame trials bikes seems to of been reversed recently with round section tubular steel frames ala gasgas/ossa being the new trend. Are these latest steel frames lighter than ally or comparable weight but being more compact allow for a neater overall package. (or is it cost against weight saving) Inquisitive engineer in me asking the question
  17. Given me lots of support and help also. Top man!!
  18. For a replacement std part would suggest MSport (Munch) Sandifords or Pidcocks. Original Honda/Montesa parts are surprisingly sensibly priced.
  19. Glad to see a lot of you guys have same feelings as me. I think riding something you enjoy can be as good as riding the latest fashion. Hopefully what you like is not handicapping your results. Keep the comments and feedback coming
  20. Whats peoples thoughts and experiences. After 5 years on 4rt's is 2012 time for a switch or is the 4rt still as good as the rest in real club man trials. Current ride - 2009 250 4rt twin ptb running modified Sains map. Current ability - O40 riding Normandale's, clubman route on S3 and general clubman/O40s sections. If people have moved from 4rts what have they found suits best and have they improved, got worse or stayed the same. We all know the 4rt is not the size zero super model but in the real world is this an issue. Super suspension, super quality, bullet proof motor and still makes you smile every time you fire her up.
  21. I think a lot of championships dwindle towards the end of a series as people weigh up the cost of improved placings against the cost of travel. If the trial is a cracker then they will make the effort as its worth it anyway. (lakes. Bootle/Lancs weekend etc) Sundays trial was again very well organised and a very well run trial. Possibly not a classic as the trial is made up of several good bits of land linked with some basic road work. Sections possible a little easy this year but terrain seemed dryer than last year so hard to say. Maybe 3 rounds in a month doesn't help. A double header with Hillsborough might of helped as would a double header down south for previous round. Fuel cost these days out weigh a hotel stay (including beer and grub) Also plod in Derbyshire seem to be getting a reputation which was again confirmed on Sunday so maybe some riders don't want the hassle? As an O40 rider on modern bike I think maybe the older rider on modern bike is where the championship is now heading and possibly most competitive. O50 and O40 both undecided going into last round. I have enjoyed my 2 years of Normandales - harder traditional style trials suit me best as I'm good at slack dabs and hate hopping and flicking especially when we are supposed to be no stop. A good championship takes all types of variation into the mix so it needs easy/hard, tight/flowing, muddy rocky. People will always ride what they prefer. See you in Hillsborough and hopefully next year
  22. If they where "on it" they wouldn't let such basic mistakes out of the factory! However its good to see they are taking up their responsibilities as they were never the best - I know cos I was on the wrong end of the smelly stick. Product has always been very competitive but build quality/durability questionable. Probably still got a way to go to meet Honda quality or Beta UK after sales service from what I can gather but always good to hear customer is being looked after - well done GasGas

    2012 4RT

Whats the difference - though existing air box was pretty good. Dont get much water or muck in. Would be nice to know improvements
  24. Google Scott trial or SSDT. Big miles at quick paces.
