With Michelin's 4 psi back and 5.5psi front unless you are very light or riding very muddy sections with no rocks. Check a few times especially if the weather is cold and sunny. A back tire can go up a pound after being first checked on a spring morning.
A good low pressure tire guage is money well spent.

Several years ago I rode a welsh clubs 3 stage trial which was a little similar to your idea.
I think we did 3 lots of 3 laps (9 laps in total) probably 3 to 4 mile lap and say 10 sections.
First 3 laps timed only but riding through sections
second 3 laps time and observation
and final 3 laps observation only. It was a cracking event with enduro, trials and trail bikes. I think the final results was a good mix.

4 psi back, always check a few times especially when its been cold overnight. A tire will go up 1 psi or so after it has come out of the van on a spring morning and yes 1 psi makes a lot of difference. Also check after 1st lap if the day warms up.

I have bought unstickered 1998 red mudguards in the past a lot cheaper than that. All stickers come seperate with their own part no. The pre 2000 mudguards without the red paint on top are a lot more forgiving than the later versions.

Wash and dry as everyone else but use "neatsfoot" oil designed for saddles etc. Paint it on with a brush. easier than dubbin and soaks in better. Keep it off the soles or you will dabbing all day!!!!!!!

Practicesd on a big flat concrete block about 6 foot square and with a 3 foot step up to it. On the 315 would come up the step and tight right turn just before front wheel went off the edge. Same section on the 4rt and had much more romm to turn on the top. Don't know why as much of the suspension and chassis components look the same as the 315, could be just more refined, better balanced or engine braeking but definately better.

I had several 315s and switched to a sorted second hand 05 4RT. Bike felt better than a 315 in suspension and turning. Rear Suspension is as good as anything and build quality superb. I found I had an extra 1 foot at the top of a 3 foot step I practic on compared to the 315. If you never had a super light fall 2 bits 2 stroke then you won't miss it.
I think frames are the same up until maybe 08. 06 clutch plates better. Master cyl and bash plate good mods.
Its one of the few bikes that really make you smile when riding it.
Definately go the 4rt route

315R master clutch cylinder is a must. Us only the Elf oil or ATF in clutch also.

What are requirements for the horn - continuous tone for so long seems to stick in my mind. I presume by air horn you used one on a aerosol? What have other people used. What is the need reference No plates and speedos?
Certificate of newness makes it an easy job not sure what its like without one. Might have to get bike inspected at local licensing office to make sure it actually exists.
Would imagine there is a Help sheet on DVLA web or similar

Suggest we all take a little time to adopt the philosophy of using map coordinates for refering areas of land for emergency use.
I think the ACU risk assessment form requests this!!!!

315 Master cylinder is a must on the earlier bikes, mine had one when I bought it but just changed my friends and having ridden a before and after the difference is huge.

05 4rt - 06 clutch
Always stop bike with stop button. If you stall slow kick with throttle open, snap throttle open and shut and press stop button.
ATF gives good clutch feel at a lot less than elf.
Bike should start in gear when warm, if cold should tap in to neutral easy, if struggling use your hand to find neutral before trying to start the bike.
Both 315 and 4rt definitely not the worse for finding neutral in my opinion. Maybe just a knack. Knock down to 1st and a gentle tap with the heel back to neutral.

Bought Metal from Non Ferrous Metal supply company in Bridgend. Phoned up and available within a couple of hours cut to size. Alloy grade just searched web sites for an alloy spec sheet try www.aalco.co.uk/technical/aluminium.html

Ally Grade 5251 is what I used. Seem to recall ok on spec sheets on the web.

I have made a new plate for my 4rt, 6mm thick but can't remember what spec.
Will have a look when I get back to work on Monday or have a chat to a local metal supplier in Yellow pages or see what some of the after market suppliers are specifying. (if in doubt copy)

The pre-conceived ideas about hunting is very similar to those that people have about us motorcyclists. In reality the people I have met are just like us with similar backgrounds and just out for a blast across the moors and countryside dressed in funny gear (sound familiar)
With the ever increasing threat from the lefties and DEFRA suggest we should be making allies before we are all riding round inside an Eco barn over recycled pallets on electric bikes.

JC may respond formally but basically same as 2007 as most things seemed to be accepted as good as its going to get (ie can't please all the people all the time")
Possible introduction of a masters class if suitable number and quality of riders sign up otherwise same again in 2008.

Tip for walking the section (as prescribed by Bernie Schrieber)
Start at the begining and walk the section without worrying about lines too much.
Then walk the section from the back to the front plotting your line.
This helps in 2 ways
1 you don't plan a line on the first bit only to find that the next bit requires an alternative route to be taken
2 the first bit that you ride is the part fresh in your memory, no good remembering how to clean the end bit if you have a five 3 foot because you forgot the slippy root right at the start of the section
Also watch and learn but don't be affraid to try your own line. Somtimes watch clubman riders following like sheep. Use whatever space you can, find any grippy bits you can and try to ride things as straight as possible. Going over is usually much better than trying to sneak around the odd tricky rock etc.
Try to focus on where you actually want to ride and not what you want to avoid. Its amazing how you body and bike follow what you are looking at, normally ends in a crash into that tree you where trying to avoid.!!!!

There must be something about the R smell. Even the Wife stops and does a "bisto" advert when ever a bike comes past running on it or the modern alternative.
Did a few years supporting nephew and family friend with the spanners at kart racing. Somebody is definitely producing a modern R smelling lube as 30 2 stroke karts hitting full throttle after a slow lap before a rolling start creates one of the biggest R smelling 2 stroke clouds you can imagine. Who cares about getting the best vantage spot to see the racing, just make sure you are standing down wind of the start straight.
Let me know what the best suggestion is on the replacement R front. Got to be worth a cup full every now and then in the 4rt

Best thing any novice can practice is turns and more turns Even better if on a banking . Practice transferring your weight to the outside foot rest and keeping your shoulders square to the bars.
If you can incorporate a small obstacle to practice blipping throttle/double blip technique then even better. Figure of 8 with a log or step in the middle spot on

Also work on the 1/4 turn on every 3rd spoke, until one side complete (3 revolutions) then do the other side. Repeat if still a little loose. Helps keep everything even.

Not wanting to steal anybodies thunder but this Saturday is the British Championship organisers/riders etc forum in rugby to discuss this years championship and review last years.
Having attended last year I found this an informative day with sensible discussion.
I guess riders and importers have been contacted and views requested but as C of C for one of the rounds was wondering if anybody had any burning issue that they feel we as organisers should look to address in 2008 (trying to avoid the what rules debate etc).
