  1. I presume you have checked the normal thing like proper tick over. 4rt need a higher than expected tick-over

    315r Spacer

If no speedo drive should have a after market spacer on non disc side. If speedo then no spacer.

    315r Age

Sounds like a late 315 -2004 -white plastics. Best of the 315s although all are good. Elf or ATF works well in clutch. Genuine spares are cheaper than you would expect and build quality superb. Good luck
  4. Once filter is loose it is a real fiddle to get it past the flywheel but keep playing and it will pop out. Make sure you sit the filter back in its housing perfectly before tightening the retaining clip, otherwise the spigot on the cover is out of alignment and won't fit into cover. A spot of grease can help hold the spring into the filter when reinstalling it

    4rt Filter Prep

Fresh oiled filter every time out. I always buy a spare filter so have one in the bike and a clean one ready to go in. Use spray on filter oil (putoline at present ) and wash out with washing up liquid. With 4RT and a spray filter oil it seems to confuse air sensor and bike is hard to start initially for first few hours as solvent must fill air box. Once started then never an issue. I have started to get into routine of fitting filter to the mesh as soon as I go into the garage for a fettle. Leave on the bench to breath then put in the air box last thing. Seems better that way.
  7. If most of us stop and hop more than 3 times we are too knackerd to ride the rest of section!!!! Get in, get out and keep your feet up as long as possible has always been my philosophy.
  8. I believe the expert A will be similar to this years expert route in severity but made up of 50% Championship sections and 50% expert B sections. Expert B should then work out easier than this years full expert course. Aimed at centre experts. Out of 12 sections we should have 6 full championship severity, Expert A and B will ride easier route and will be hard expert B sections 6 tricky championship that expert A will ride hard route on and expert B will ride the easier route which should be easeir than this years. C of C are charged with the winner in each class dropping 20 to 30 marks. I guess top 10 to 15 approx of this years experts to stay expert A anybody else to ride expert B. I am sure a grading list is being compiled. Youth will ride expert A I think. Hope that helps. I am sure JC or ACU will correct anything that I hyaven't got quiet right

    Mad

Most impressive but the phrase which includes sore a*** and trick cyclist come to mind
  10. something I always try to to before loading the bike up after a trial is swill off the worst of mud etc. A bucket and brush and a puddle or stream makes an awful lot of difference when you get home. If nothinhg available I always atleast try and go home with clean tyres by riding throgh long grass etc. It is amazing how much mud collects in the tread block and is really time consuming to get rid of.
  11. tick over is critical as due to no battery the fuel injection relies on capacity for charging. Low tick over means that this is not getting enough charge. Always stop the bike with the stop button, and press the stop before trying to start, flick the throttle open and shut prior to pushing stop button. This resets ecu. Still no joy try 2 very long slow kicks with the throttle wide open not trying to start the bike, snap throttle shut, press stop button and then try to start. Also I have found that when putting a clean air filter in with spray filter oil on the bike is a pig to start, the solvent off the filter oil must cock up the air flow meter in the throttle body. Make sure this is not the case or maybe you are spraying WD40 or something in and around the air box. A 4rt should always start within a couple of steady kicks -throttle closed mind. Hope some of that helps as Honda bits are normally pretty reliable
  12. Course looking wet but good. Entries have closed??? but a phone call to Dai might still get you a ride
  13. So long as its the later 315 wheel -2000 onwards will drop straight in. Depending on what gearing you want the rear sprocket can be left on - just make sure you specify a 315 sprocket when you replace. I actually prefer the 315 rear disc as the extra slots make it respond better in mud.
  14. You don't say what year the bike is. If 2005 then change clutch friction plates to 2006 ones, fit genuine Montesa from Sandifords, about
  15. Neath MC are running the final round of the Welsh championship on 16/11/08. The venues is the same as used for the St Davids British Champ and offers a superb selection of terrain from streams, banks and big rocks. 3 good sized laps of 12 single sub section are planned with an Expert, masters, clubmen and youth routes. The clubman route will be of a sensible and traditional nature with some excellent stream sections, the masters route will also be very rideable picking up 6 of the trickier clubman sections along with 6 of the easier expert sections. The expert section are aimed at testing the best in Wales and anybody else who wants to come along. Welsh residents are eligible for Champinship points but all others welcome on a no points basis. Come along and have a good value days sport Entry Secretary: Mr David Collins 38 The Uplands, PenyCae, Port Talbot Tel: 01639 774502/07799264678 Start/Venue : Lletty Rafel Farm, Ynys Arwed, Aberdulais, Neath START TIME: 11am Entry Fees: Entries to be completed on a official entry form with two SAE . 16. I seem to recall the RTL250's going the same way price wise and then they stopped making them?? Maybe the begining of the end of Honda in trials for a few years!!
  17. lets combine several post and come up with answer to how to ease the sections in the BTC. A simple handicap system shouyuld be introduced - who ever is leading the championship has to have a gallon of beer before the start, each place lower has 1 pint less. As all out top riders are very dedicated this would really cock them up wheras a lot of club riders actually seem to get better after a shed full. The new intercom systems should also double as a karioke system - the thought of Dougie struggling up a 3 foot step 1/2 p****d singing my way would be interesting to say the least I think several new names may appear on the British championship.

    No Spark Help

"Hi guys, Was out on my beta when all of a sudden it just died on me, Tried starting it but nothing there! Its getting fuel but no spark. My first thought was the Coil. Does anyone know how i could test it?? Is there anything else i should be taking into consideration?? Ive checked all the connections and they seem ok and it recently had a new spark plug. Any thoughts or ideas would be apreiacted!!" Dougie L, is that you - how did you get internet connection out on the moors above Richmond.
  19. As said earlier the C of C has the ability to make it work or not. Where terrain allows keep the turns sensible so no need to mess about unless somebody paticularily wants to. Too many times I have been to superb venues only to have section marked out where you need to disapear up your own A***Hole. I think you will find that a lot of the most popular trials the rules being ridden are irrelevant to what score you loose (riding it no stop or stop permitted or stop for 30secs) the section can be cleaned or at least ridden using the style you prefer.
  20. Try ATF, I have used it in 3 315s and now a 4rt. Done 2 ssdts with it and no problems with wear and clutch feel is good. Put
  21. take foot rest off and put a blob of weld on the part that stops off against the mounting. Won't need to worry electrics etc. Footrests need to slope up slightly so when the bike is lent over they then don't slope down and hence encourage your foot to come off
  22. make sure your fotrest don't slope downwards. Looking from the rear of the bike check both footrest slope up 10 to 15 degs. If slopping down a bit of weld in the appropriate place normally works.
  23. the alternative and more enviromentally friendly approach to this is to drink a shed full the night (and or early morning) before and still have enough alcohol in the system to avoid the inconvienience of carrying and disposing of tins/bottles. This approach seems very popular in multi day events like SSDT, Manx East yorks 2 day etc. If you find that you have 2 much left over from the night before this can easiliy be ejected in the corner of parc ferme before staring the days ride or at the first section.
