  1. Have a read through Addicts recent post as he has been through several things with his which he has now sorted -I think the post was just titled "4rt"
  2. April 11th - round of Normandale traditional champ. ACU website has info for first few rounds but not for this yet. Have ridden it a few years ago and was always a good steady ride round - last time based on outskirts of Rhayder I think but not sure now.

    4rt

Just Glad all is well. What do you think was main issue -loom or throttle body or both. Hopefully see you at a Normandale through the year.
  4. classictrials web site has loads of useful tips - have a read
  5. SSDT is unique and as a clubman suggest you adopt tortoise and hare approach. Set out to finish each day by going steady. There are too many rocks in the sections to plan each one so ride loose and flexible and just plan for the really tricky bits. Have finished all my 7 SSDTS spread over 20 odd years with negligible time penalties by keeping moving all day. Time in sections is a killer if you get it wrong. Read JSTs advice - John Lampkin also has posted similar and I think there was a good article on the old SSDT site. Make sure you understand how delay works - this makes a big difference if you play it right. Duct Tape extensions on your front mudguard - top tip Ride a little higher tyre pressures - makes minimal difference in the sections. Buy riding gear that keeps you dry and not makes you look like a works rider. Study each days route in advance so you know where you are going - I have in the past cut out the route, laminated it and stuck it on the cross brace so you can read it as you go. If in doubt check whats coming - you can go along way in the wrong direction - I believe Kinnel can confirm this. Practice streams and loose rocks - don't worry about no stop as stopping and hopping is the wrong style anyway for Scotland. Keep it flowing!!! PS Enjoy it and also look at the scenery - superb in places

    4rt

Changed my kill switch - no difference. Just had e mail of Mick saying maybe the earth on the coil. He will explain if you are talking to him tomorrow

    4rt

Mine does that - when you find out what it is let me know Think it might be the wiring going to the coil - seems corrosion sets in on the older bikes - mines 2005. I soldered the spades onto the wires Sat and mine seemed better today. I have asked Munch to supply me a new loom which seems to be the fix - not silly money evidently. Big John gave me some info and reading past posts I think Sunt had issues with his.

    4rt

Is it like the kill button being pressed for a second and then released.? Only on tickover or minimum revs.

    Fork Angle.?

Something different is part of it but sensible sections, good old fashioned riding and having fun are the main attractions. Its more fun if you ride well to so I will always try to maximize the bike set up what ever model or format. Agree that a good rider on a std bike will always be better than a bad rider on a good bike however a good rider on a good bike has to be optimum

    Fork Angle.?

Maybe right if you only ride one bike but if you change between modern and old a common feel is beneficial - I think

    Fork Angle.?

Recently tweaked a tlr 200 to 4rt angle - bike steered better but lost 20 mm on wheel base in the process which made front end lighter on climbs. Longer swing arm due to be fitted when time allows. Therefore check both ends. Fork yoke/triple clamp offset is also different on modern bikes which will probably effect ratio of angle, trail, Castor etc. Check your maths Frist.

    4rt

Fingers crossed for you as I've been through the intermittent problem scenario
  13. Never had issue with mont rear wheels - 315 and now 4rt so standard seems best

    4rt

I found that I needed to ride 30 mins or so at low speed - Ie up a long brook section and then it would start to miss when opening it up to climb out the bank or ride off to next sections. Maybe low fuel use low air speed passed engine creates worse case senario. I could also get it to play up by putting it on tickover and covering tank up with a blanket. Once it starts it is quiet repeatable. Hope its not the pump tho and good luck for the weekend.

    4rt

When mine started playing up I swapped tanks with my mate which confirmed the problem was with the fuel system. However during the session of swapping tanks etc I inadvertently put some 2 stroke fuel in -it may be pure coincidence but the problem seemed less severe with a bit of pre mix in. Due to time constraints never got chance to see if this had any merit but if the problem is with the pump getting tight when warm a bit of lube may delay the inevitable. Something to try???

    4rt

Changed the plug but not for a new one, tick over is set quite quick to avoid a stall so thinking its something in the wiring, connections etc. May try a brand new plug and a good strip down before spending too much. Not bad for a 5 year old bike that done a bit of work tho.

    4rt

Had to change fuel pump on my 2005. Bike would be fine for 30 mins or so and then start to miss and not rev out. Let it cool down for a while and then would be fine until it got hot again. I might have the wiring loom problem now as on tickover she misses a beat now and again as if the kill button has been pressed and released.
  18. Thanks - will print out and compare
  19. Anybody got a a detail assembly drawings or photos of the internals of a marzocchi front forks. Think I might have a set built up wrong!
  20. I have to say i was very happy with their service when I used them last week.
  21. Perce Will wait until 3 am to post my vote
  22. Just switched 4rt to MSM as planning on doing a few road trials this year. Worked out about
  23. Tried everything today but think 4rt is no good in the ice. Fine in snow tho
  24. Many years ago with X1 tubed tyre found higher pressure was better than low in the snow. Not sure if this is still the case but it stopped the tyres clogging up. Will maybe re try my theory tomorrow - about 7 psi in the rear seems to come to mind. The old Pirelli MT43 was the dogs in the snow but rubbish at any other time
  25. Message from Bryan Pucket who coordinates the Project 2000 training scheme we run here in South the Wales Hi All My garage on Christmas Eve at 8.30pm was broken into and the two Project 2009 Beta's 125s trials machines were stolen. I would appreciate you all to keep a eye out for these machines Vin numbers ZD3T6000080100068 ZD3T6000080100072 Many thanks Bryan These bikes had been used to bring new riders into the sport and had been available on a hire basis for newbies to try our sport with out having to invest in the own equipment until sure they liked it.
