Was going to say you know it rights when it starts first time and you stop stalling it but think addicts suggestion is better.
PS
Always let it warm up for a minute or so before opening throttle - don't do a two stroke thing and blip the throttle when cold
-
Always stop with kill button - never stall to stop the bike. Make sure tickover is not too low when it does start running.
After doing a reset as described above press kill button before trying to re start.
I also snap open and close throttle and press kill button prior to starting if it does not start first time.

"as the Trial is running in reverse direction this year " - Perce
At least I'll see the sections I didn't get to last year.
Not watched for many a year but as a 17/18/19 year old the Scott was a cracking trial to watch as you try and work out who is doing what on speed and can only listen to rumours on who is best on observation.
Hope you enjoy your day watching

Sorry but I watched it live on S4C and was able to add subtitles via the telly as still converting from Yorkie to Welsh so coverage made sense to me. Howard Davis is into trials now as he and his boy ride I think. Probably one of the best ways to get trials on TV. ( for the less informed Howard was a world class rally co driver so really nice to queue up for a section and chat with him - seems a top bloke).
I'm sure Gaz or Elwyn will translate for you - just need to check to make sure no bias creeps in - I can see the unofficial translation now - Young Welsh Tom Sagar puts English to shame with stunning win!!!! (lots of years of Rugby to make up for)

You need correct software to match either a single or 2 stage throttle body. Once sorted its very easy to change maps (using pre designed alternatives) and can help you tune bike to your riding style/ability.
Its also easy to alter an existing map but would suggest that unless you know what you are doing would be easy to make performance worse rather than better. Several good alternative maps are available on the intyweb.
Check previous threads for some links

Cheers Gaz
Enjoyed today, cracking organization.
Might of been better of with no petrol on some as very slippery at front of entry
Pass on thanks to all officials and observers

Whats the crack with refueling - do we pass back through start area?
-
Tick over
Put back to the 1800 rpm and you will probably find all OK.
As bike has no battery has to generate and store enough charge to run all electrical systems every stroke.
Check back through forums but basically start with no throttle, let it warm up before blipping throttle, always stop with kill button and all should be well. If all above done and still issues then maybe a problem but fancy tick-over is the issue.

Not sure on the Beta but owned a 4rt for over 3 years and required maintenance was minimal -- even after SSDT and Scott. I think you may also be surprised at the price of Mont spares - ie rear disc
-
I liked his explanation and theory just thought I would translate it for the hard of reading.
Ps
Being an ageing git who now can only ride traditional sections with minimal stopping and hopping I still do like me 4rt

Telecat
I think you are saying 4ts good on traditional type sections with no stop rules
2ts good on stop hop and bop stuff

Me and my 2 mates are riding this trial for the first time this weekend and looking forward to it as sounds spot on. (over 40 clubman route)
Club and program really helpful but just looking for some past experience on how much fuel to use.
Suggestion by club is 3 stops and will need to drop fuel off before the start as we have nobody to follow us around so any additional info welcome.
Riding 2 4rts and a beta - (beta will probably have to have its own refueling rig towed behind).
I have Hebo auxiliary tank if worth fitting
Riding Nos 23,24,25. Rappers is 26 so hope we don't feature in his write up on Sunday
Any tips appreciated

315 and 4rt are diffrent - frame is thicker on 315 - I know cos tried my old 315 hangers on 4rt and would need spacers.
You dont say how tall you are - if under 6ft would suggest it is either position of handlebars or something you are doing wrong.
I think the post 2001 bikes maybe slightly further back but cant remember that far back.
-
Does anybody know how many of the current batch of trials helmets are road legal?
-
Walk section from start to finish to get a general feel for where it goes.
Then walk back from finish to start picking your line - this way the bit you ride first is the bit youve just walked and frsh in your mind
Try and remember any key point ie rock or root to try and ride over to help break section down into bits.
Avoid chatting and being distracted on the way back so you are fully focused.
Try and picture where you will be when you ride it.
Other than that just concentration I guess or a ball of string
-
Double complilation CD titled "DIY" songs - makes me realise what I have escaped by riding trials and having fun all weekend
Actually a couple of ok tracks and a couple that wake you and think B*****S what am I listening to this for.
World cup has been handy as been able to listen to the match commentory - trouble is after listening to 4 or 5 matches over a weekend of driving gets difficult in converstion in work on Monday to remember who was playing who and what the results were.
Wish I had been driving during Englands games so I could forget or mix up those results
-
Have always tightened every 3rd spoke 1/4 turn. 3 revs one side then 3 revs other and all done. If still loose then go again. Works well on 36 spoke hub- not sure on other configurations.
Check for even tension by tapping each spoke and listen to note
-
Yep -all swing arm bits are interchangable 2000 and on.Diffrent rear caliper on pre 2000 315r
-
What oil did you use - Mont clutch very sensitive to oil type.
Search forums for comments but the expensive elf oil or atf seem best options
-
Just bought 4rt with a gas gas disc fitted - no problem so assume disc/wheel interchangable if spacers are correct
-
07 Beta
What level do you and your mates ride and what succes do you have.
Engine response and consistancy is critical on a trials bike and dirty filters, blocked jets and worn piston and rings can not help this.
Any failure on the air filtration side can only increase the chance of poor performance.
I might be a bit extreme but will never take a bike out unless there is a newly cleaned and oiled air filter in place.
-
As no other post yet with results here they are as I remember them - please correct and add as you see fit.
Dry weather made the muddy banks etc very grippy allowing for some super riding making the scores lower than expected/anticipated.
Thanks to all who rode, attended or helped in anyway
Results
J Dabill - 10
A Wigg - 12
M Brown - not sure as had bike problems on last lap that probably cost him the trial - had 1 mark advantage on James after 2nd lap
Exp A - G Macdonald -2
Exp B - J Woods- 2
Youth - J Luter-Evans

For Info - St Davids has a full house of 55 riders so although people have had to choose their prefered event hopefully all events will be well supported.Good luck to all involved.

"I think you have missed the main point of my piece, perhaps my message was to subtle in it's approach?"
Not sure what the subtle point was but I (and probably every one else) read it that based upon the vast experience you will be again be putting on the best world round in a superb location and whatever rules the FIM have conjoured up this year Martin and Co will address these and still do a fantastic job and the organisation and planning will be superb as previous.
So please come along
Sorry if I missed the hidden points and good luck to all
