I have been renting vans for a while as I did the same math's as section swept and couldn't make it add up (a van purchase). I used to pick up a van on
a Saturday morning and drop it off on a Sunday evening, however that company doubled its prices so I went elsewhere and the other hire companies require you to drop the van off on a Monday morning which is a pain for me as I work away during the week and I'm normally away well before the hire shop opens. I've noticed a few people using citreon berlingos at trials (The cars not the van) so I've gone halfers on one of them with my old man as you can use them like a car when you dont need to transport a bike. You can take them to a tip as well (which you cant with a van where I live) . I reckon in a couple of years I'll have spent the same as hiring so I bit the bullet and bought one.
As a BTW a way to decrease the cost of van hire is to buy your own excess insurance costs a lot less than the hire company.
I always liked the look of the 348's and I got a later model one last year having never rode one before, its surprisingly well made for a bike of that age easy to work on as well..
I wouldn't worry too much about it snapping in half if you find a decent one I doubt you will loose money on it. I'm not bothered about
it being competitive in twin shock trials I just bought it for the fun factor which it has in spades.
Hi All,
Got the bike out of the van and noticed the bolt that holds the rear mudguard and base of the fuel tank is missing.
I believe the part is not available does any know what size of bolt it is so I can source a replacement.
Thanks all

Hi Gazza,
That's a great looking bike it looks like production model ...
One question did you paint the mitani tank or does it have 4rt decals applied to it.
Cheers

Hi all
Found the problem! the fan had cut through a couple of wires running to the rubber box attached to the left side of the bike,
Glad it happened 10ft from the van not mile from the van on top of a moor....
Thanks for all your suggestions
Hi All,
Had a look a the bike this morning and I'm getting no spark..
Could anyone provide an idiots guide as to how check the coil, pickup, stator etc
I've tried a new plug is it a matter of replacing parts until I get a spark or is there some dark art I need to know about
cheers
Hi All,
After spending an afternoon in the garage I was feeling really pleased with myself as I'd
managed to bleed a spongy rear brake this was after trying various methods including
syringes and reverse bleeding/regular bleeding covering myself with fluid etc etc..
I managed to get the job done after taking the back of the bike off and bleeding the master cylinder.
Anyhow after putting everything back together I thought I'd start her up! usually a two kick affair from
cold and one kick when hot! after ten kicks nought!!
At that point I remembered last time I was out I was riding back to the van and the bike cut out as if
it had run out of petrol though there was plenty of fuel in the tank. (had run fine all day up to that point)
I've got a pass this weekend so I'm going to try and get the bike started just wondered what I should
check? first thing I was going to look at was too see if there's a spark (not sure what I'll do if there isn't one!)
then see if there's any gunk in the carb.
After that I'm not sure what to check? and suggestions as to what I should look at mucho appreciated!
Cheers all
