  1. Pinchflat...that would be a great bike to own...BUT..the only thing I would say is..buy the newest bike that you can afford, regardless of what make it is. If the Beta is the best/newest you can afford...then go for it. Its AMAZING how much better the new trials bikes feel every year...having said that..the 99 is still a very capable bike..particularly for learning on. Good luck!

Sorry to hear about your experience with the bush bob...but (hope you've got a good sense of humour)..'cause it kind of sounded a bit funny..sorry mate.. Next best one to that was when my missus had a go on my bike, in an open field (VERY big field...but with one huge pile of nettles in the middle)...well..you can guess where she fell off. It was her first experience of nettles to, 'cause she'd never been in UK before that Pleased your bike is running better..good luck with your mouth!
  3. I agree as well TImp...in fact everyone will probably agree. SO ...who are these people doing that. Luckily we never get a queue here in Hong Kong, 'cause there aint enough of us!!..but it seems a bit strange why people would want to do that to their fellow competitors/sporting buddies
  4. It is true though, that if you stick yer tongue out, it helps you to concentrate more. Looks real cool too!!

BOB...if you struggle getting optimax, maybe experiment with regular fuel but with some octane booster added. You should be able to buy octane booster somewhere in UK As regards plug...personally I would stick EXACTLY to what the book says.....without wanting to p*** anyone off...who would know better than BETA??? they say that you should use a Champion N7YCC and our Beta importer here was told by the factory that you should NOT use any other plug. I even find that an NGK BP7ES which is the equivelant plug to the Champion, still creates some knocking on mine. I've never changed any jets on the carb or anything...but the people who suggest that here, I would say are very reliable posters!!..and I'm sure they'll be right, but you might be able to cure it without doing that. Not sure if your 200 would have the same plug as my Rev3 250 though..and mines a 2002 model good luck again
  6. GREAT pic ishy. And dont they always look better in black and white eh!? I wish I was a bit better with a camera, 'cause I like pictures of people...but hate "posed" pictures. In trials...if you catch the moment, you can get some of the best smiles...AND grimaces that you'll ever see.
  7. Good on ya craftypiggy! I'm looking forward to the day that I might have my own shed or even garage to do the same as you. In the meantime, if I bend or break any of my Beta bits, I'll send them to you so you can have some welding practice. Shame I just got rid of a broken rear subframe bracket that you could have welded and re-used. Good luck!
  8. Yep...please get some pics Marky. would be great to see what I'm missing out on! Have a good time both. Hope crosskeys dont run out of bacon!

It seems fairly common with Betas...mine USED to do it. Like Hondars says...get the BEST fuel that you can....and make sure you are using the correct spark plug, and probably all will be fine. Mine is!...never use standard unleaded, else it will start knocking again.
  10. The thing that amazed me Wonder Boy, about the 05 is how amazingly easy it is to flick the back end around...(on level ground)..something I've never really been able to do very well. Fantastic bike...hope I can get one one day!
  11. No..thats just to stop 'em getting nicked JTT...specially if they're woth 20K!!!
  12. Never bloody heard of it.!!!...but theres a trumpet job going here soon if you fancy it Bikespace...after all those curries I'm sure you're up to a bit of trumpeting. Hey...nearly forgot..good luck on SUnday...trying to persuade my old man to go and watch it, since I cant be there. Is Marky G riding too>> Still got my road bike Marky..but lost interest really on that scene. Rather get out on the trials bike...but I could still be persuaded to a ride out to crosskeys now and again!! look forward to joining you both at a trial near end of the year!..You can have hours of entertainment watching me crash (do that alot)....Oh! and I'll be TOTALLY bo*****d when it comes to riding in mud!...dont get that 'ere
  13. I agree PhilSwiv...It is hard to KNOW what beginner actually is. Although, I suppose to be fair..it is a fairly impossible question to answer. And Im sure it will vary between clubs. I'm sure when I return to live in UK, I will probably find myself out of my depth at a few trials...but I guess that is the only way I'll find out where I'm at. Although Im hoping that someone might go for a practise with me first and then say that I should or shouldnt enter certain trials, and which level to enter at. Hopefully that will avoid me giving everyone a few hours worth of free circus entertainment!!
  14. Ah..yes..I should have thought of that.!...dont be too sad to say goodbye to the 04 though...'cause them 05's are even better I reckon
  15. Mmm...thanks for the info Bikespace...will hassle you with more questions when we're back in UK. My uncle is Welsh....maybe that'll do!!!..Oh! and I know the words to Myfanwy ..( that was my nans middle name)...coolest name ever!!
  16. Lukass...sorry I cant be much help..but I'm sure someone will be VERY soon....BUT, I have looked at my parts diagram..and all I can say is it sure LOOK like its a ball bearing to me. Maybe its a 6mm one?? Good luck
  17. Hi Brian...its a great idea..(to me)...and I'm really pleased to see someone going about it in the CORRECT way..i.e. asking permission first. Living in a place where EVERYTHING gets copied and totally without permission etc etc..I get pretty sick of that behaviour. Hope to see the pics soon. I love those old Hondas...and luckily there are still a few kicking around here...but no real mint ones. I can get you some pics of the UN-mint ones though if you want!
  18. Hi Bikespace......you're right about the curry of course! Assuming I might be good enough one day to try and do one of these championship events...clubmans route of course....I have a question. How does it work??...do you have to "prove yourself" first...ie. be the top guy in yer usual club or something, before you can enter an event like the Welsh Championship??...and do you have to ride for a Welsh club to allow you to enter?? Just curious...I guess I'll find all these things out when I return to UK, but would be nice to get a bit "gemmed up" before my return. I never did trials before I came to HK..so I dont really know how it all works in UK> THanks for any info!
  19. Yep..you gonna be VERY happy Mick!..wish I had an 04....they are amazing...mind you I reckon the 05 is even better still...if thats believable!...so come on Aaron....get it out the garage man!
  20. I'm sure you're not really a duffer bikespace...but you might be if you keep eating leftover curry!! Ahhh!..not long till I'm back in sunny blighty..(well about 8 months actually). Been to that cafe at crosskeys many times when I was a boy-racer street biker. Now I'm just a crash-test dummy trials rider Have a good time Marky/Bikespace...hope I might be able to join you next year!!!....(only if theres an easy route though!)
  21. Good on ya Mick....you know it makes sense

    Four Stroke

Any TRIALS bike is the right move!!...and NOT waiting for one too long is also a good move!..I tried a new Sherco recently and it was fantastic..sure you'll love it. Your location says CIDER COUNTRY..is that Herefordshire..or Somerset?? EIther way, you should try to hook up with Heath of r2wtrials.com He is often trialing around cider country...and posts regularly on here. Good luck with the new bike!
  23. Thanks for your help clarkp!!
  24. Here's a picture of it. 18.25 from BVM Good luck in the SSDT. HOPEFULLY might see u there in 2006. Trying to get a few lads from here in Hong Kong to come and do it. Only problem is, I think it would be WAY too difficult for me. One or two of the guys here did it about 20 years ago....so maybe they'd be able to "show me the ropes"/keep picking me up!!!!!!!
  25. Kinell...save yourself some money!..bvm-moto.co.uk sell the thirsty tank thing, which you could put some petrol in I guess. If you go with TopFun the price will double when they add their postage...probably more!!..since they automatically send everything by courier rather than regular post!!!!!!!!!!!!
