  1. Sorry guys but this is getting a bit like a stuck record......"when will we have another American World Trials Champion?" Simple answer.......until you have a rider that actually competes in the WTC.....never. You haven't had a regular World Round contender since Bernie packed in 20 years ago, he only became champion because he upped sticks and moved to Europe to ride in the series. I have said this before......making trials more difficult/proffessional/bigger in the US isn't the answer.....send your good riders over here and let them ride against the worlds best, its the only way for them to make it. Getting back to the original post.....Lance Armstrong, brilliant cyclist, Tour de France hero.....never would have won that if he stayed in America ! Martin

  3. I've been in his SBK motorhome......it aint big or flash Managed to wind up Steve about the trial.....he did figure out where I got the info though Bruce !!!!!!! Cheers Martin
  4. The prototype 4 stroke enduro they launched last month uses a Yamaha 125 which is made in Brazil !!!! Looks a bit like a badly put together, home made effort
  5. Seems like the French are into changing these to Majestys here
  6. Not sure about slow, he has put the FPR on the front row of the grid for tomorrow along with Bayliss, Corser and Toseland....must have had the throttle stick !!!!!
  7. Interesting how many of this years Superbike grid have either started out riding trials or still ride a trials bike. James Toseland, rode schoolboy trials in the East Midlands, Chris Walker former motocrosser and last I heard rides a Beta, Craig Jones got a Montesa for Christmas and former WSBK rider Garry McCoy has a couple of 4RT's Biggest trials nut out there is my old mate Steve Martin who has a Sherco 4T, Beta Rev3, 125 & 350 Bultaco Sherpas and....understandably an SWM Keep an eye out for him this weekend at Phillip Island, bet he wont put his foot down once! Martin
  8. Just got a photo sent over of the watercooled SVM's that were mentioned in my earlier post. Think this would have been around 1985/86....so must have been the first watercooled trials bike?

    Bult On Ebay

I know of some 4 speed Bultaco's that have been sold back to Spain recently for more than this bike !!!!! The Spanish love to collect these, there were very few sold there back in the 1960's most of them were exported. They consider it part of there heritage....maybe a bit like some of the crazy money that has been paid for vintage bikes in this country in the past (Brough Superiors, Vincents, Gold Stars etc!!!)
  11. The Hiro motor was used in Sammy's "Miller Hiro", the first Aprilias also used the same engine along with Armstrong CCM. As for the problem, what plug are you running? have you tried a plug one size hotter??? Also with your worn slide.....this will allow more air into the motor which will lean out the mixture and up the revs. If the carb is warming up it will make the problem worse.
  12. Motosinge Cant beleive that you of all people doesnt know the story behind the 240 with the Bultaco style muffler!!!!!!!!...........it belongs to Steve Monk and was his works bike that he used in the 83 British Arena Trials Championship. Not enough space in the van for the Jumbo, maybe next time. Martin
  13. Kickstart on ebay at the moment here
  14. Is the single shock frame a cantilever type with a fibre glass tank.....if so, it could be a Chapman BSA........which used DT175 engines.
  15. Sounds like it could be the stator coil as mentioned in the previous posts, as the first stages are a weak spark caused by insufficient power being produced from the coil. However, to give it the benefit of the doubt, take out the plug, give it 10 kicks with no throttle to clear out the cylinder, bring it up on to top dead centre, squirt about a thimble full of fuel mix down the plug hole, stick in a new or clean plug and try to bump start it......reason being that you will generate more current by bumping than kicking!!!! Good luck Martin
  16. Thats OK, the 4 square inches of table space I allocated to you will be ample then!!!!! Martin
  17. More "special needs" than "very special"
  18. Here's a famous one Motosinge....would pay decent money for that shirt Martin

  21. Got a stand inside with loads of SWM stuff and my trainee salesman for the day..........Heath !!! See you there Martin www.motoswm.com
  22. Sell it for a pony paddock....people are paying stupid money for these. Then use the money to buy a piece of woodland away from any houses, which dont sell for much. With the money left over you can buy yourself a new bike or 3!!! Regards Martin PS....anyone living in the nearby houses got a horse? if so there's your buyer!
  23. Try this.... Disconnect the front brake cable, tighten the clamp back up on the spindle, take off the front mudguard and brace, loosen all of the pinch bolts in the yokes, slide out the wheel and forks as a complete unit.........then grab hold of the top of the forks and use them as a lever to undo the spindle. Good luck Martin
  24. Yes, Big John quite correct, photo of Lisa showing us how to ride a rocky stream. No idea what Heath is talking about though Regards Martin
