Surely this is where we are now? and it isn't sustainable!
I do wonder how many more years the factorys will send there trucks round the world supporting a handful of riders in the WTC, the money is not there as we are a minority sport.
''If it aint broke don't fix it'' well it is broke, changing the rules may not fix it, but they have to do something.
I agree the WTC is the pinnacle of our sport and here in the UK we don't have to follow suit, as people have said in previous posts cater for the Majority not the Minority!

Probably a few people that would offer to do the job for me without the anasthetic........................................including the ''Hormonal B**ch that tried to remove the front end off my van cutting me up while driving in London today???
-
Hey I am an expert on this having done both????
First one clean break with an overlap, healed no problem but had a big lump so they opened it up got the planer out and shaved a bit off and is fine.
Other side made a right mess in several pieces, but was allowed to heal on its own, which it nearly did but was very flexable, this did not stop me riding, but the surgeon suggested he open it up, break it, line it up and plate and screw it together. To this day I now have a 4 inch plate and 8 screws holding it all together. They gave me the option of removing the plate, but it is still in and causes much amusements at the Airpotrs through baggage control!!!!
When putting the plate in the first screw was too long and eventually annoyed me catching another bone, 2 years later under local anasthetic they opened it up again got the cordless drill out and removed the screw, I was even allowed to choose the replacement screw they were going to put back in...............................sure I had one in the garage that size
Still riding and gives me no problemat all..................

This is so very true, yes you could ask at the start, which never happens 90% of the time, only to find the observers may not know the rules so it dosn't make a great deal of difference? We have occassionally had to recruit first time observers to sit on a section; after a 5 minute observing lesson they are let loose with Board and Pen, sometimes getting a tirade of abuse for putting down the wrong score!!!!
By the way Mark I wasn't a fan of 1 for a dab and 1 for a stop, you rack up your score too quick.......I was on a 3 a few yards into the sections

................one look at you Andrew and the Grizzly would run back into the forest

As Pete says the trials bike with such small radiaters and fan systems are designed for ''the slow stuff'' 4-strokes do cope a lot better I have a 4RT never touched the coolant it has been round the SSDT twice and loads of road based trials.
And the 4RT is no ''Tortoise'' on the road
-
I'd say ............................fair play to anyone who is good enough to grab a board or a hole punch and stands there for hours on end, maybe not getting a decision right to suit the rider, then gets the verbal abuse to tell him that his or her decision is wrong?
Hell sounds like a real pleasure to observe nowadays? I can see why they are queueing up to grab that observers board at the begining of the trial (must get thete early)...................but we know that its always a struggle?
I wonder why?
Would you argue the other way if you had 2 dabs and when asking the observer he says ''just the 1''......works both ways???

A lot of people are using the SSDT as a No Stop example and the success of the trial since reverting back to the No Stop Rules, fortunately the sections are ideal for this and agreed the further South you go it may be more difficult...................But not impossible as the rules were the same down there as they were up North in the past.
Does the section have to be hard simple answer No! Going back to using the SSDT as an example our very own DL, Top 6 rider in the world!!! should have flattened those clubman sections, but marks were still shed and without scrutinising the section scorecards I bet there were a few real Clubby riders that beat him on the sections where he dabbed.
I think it will make it a more level playing field (No pun intended)!!!
Just a thought if someone was interested in starting up trials and goes to watch a trial in its present format they would probably say there is no way I can hop and skip round like that?
If he went to a No stop trial my thinking is that he would think he could have a bit of a chance?
Now if that puts Bums on Bikes that has got to be good for the Impoters, the Dealers, the Second Hand Market, Clubs and Entries that has got to be good for our Sport rather than going down the Pan?

They had two lanes this year the usual one against the wall for the bikes and another along the waterfront for the re-fueling vehicles.

Don't buy that I'm afraid you mention the Pre 65, then relate to a topic that is being discussed elswhere, maybe you could have put your post in there?
You know where it is as you have already made comments there?
Maybe its me but I like to keep things tidy and several topics discussing the same thing................well enough said from me
See you over on the SSDT forum

Your right and there is a thread about it so why do you think it is beneficial to start another thread?

Good Result for the Brits

I see your located in Norfolk take a look at the link below for all the contacts and telephone numbers
Eastern Centre ACU Page
Yes you do need a ACU licence to compete ask for a form when you make contact and they will sign and send it off for you.

Is the BTC different to any other trial? Only a question! from Club level up to WTC level people will always struggle, has the organiser got a right to refuse entry to an individual? and could you be sued if anything happened?
Surely that would open the flood gates as I have had a few injuries at trials and never thought about taking the club to court?

As previously said apart from the Hotels and Bed & breakfasts in close vacinity of the West End car park I think more than half the people get a lift to the Park Ferme anyway. Nice if you are staying at the Cruachen or West End Hotel and look out your bedroom window to see if you can grab another 1/2 hour But for a majority staying at the Ben Nevis Hotel, Glenn Nevis Camping, Corpach and many more places transport is necessary.
Parking has always been a nightmare at the West End, I am sure some riders would like their own vehicle in there to do some last minute fettling before handing in, yes you can be the other end of the town, but you miss the atmosphere. The factory support from all Manufatures has been excellent and long may it continue, but for some they still like to work out of their own vehicle this is not possible at the West End and may be possible at the new location.
I have been fairly closely invloved with the Army Refueling over the years, this year to make it easier they had 2 service lanes into Park Ferme, one for the bikes, and one for the Army. Yes it did work but logistically more room would be better I feel (I am sure Sandy Mack will have his views on this)
How does the town benefit? Parade could still be there (If the bikes can make it that far, seen some broke down on the parade!!) beyond Saturday and Sunday how many people use the shops? Resturaunts and the pubs doubt it would affect them as they would still be used during the week (some riders support the pubs well?) In my opinion the town won't suffer.
The views coming forward will be useful to the club, but we need to detach ourselves from ''What suits me?'', yes leave it where it is because I stay in the West End Hotel, but I am out at Corpach so lets move it?? All valid points, I am sure the club come the time will make the right decission for the competitors, the spectators, the organisers, the refuelers, the community, but most of all the future success of the SSDT.
-
But would you? Telling tales is not my game as you say the rider is liable so they run the risk!!!
Maybe the reason a club dosn't check is because it may be detremantal to their entries. ''Freedom of Choice'' go to a trial where they check your licence or go to an event where they don't, think the licence dodgers will make their choice.
I too don't understand as it is only a Tenner, but that is a few tanks of petrol on a Trials bike and Trials riders are tight
-
True........................but how many times have you shown your ACU licence at a trial? I have had a licence every year and only ever showed it at the SSDT!!
I am not saying it is a waste of time as you should register with the ACU, its only a tenner, but there are a few people I know who never bother and ride week in week out, all well and good until something happens then who is liable? The rider for not having a licence or the club for letting him compete without a licence?
-
My guess is that more than half the riders get a lift to the park ferme in any case so getting out of bed a bit earlier and travelling a bit further won't make a difference?
Spectators have either cars and/or ''Outside Assistance Vans'' to follow the trial so that isn't a problem?
I am sure the Factory Support areas and the Trade Stands would be better under a bit of shelter, Global warming may be coming, but I think the Highlands may be the last to benefit?
Just a few points I am sure there will be more?
-
Well done Alexz and Johnothan will be good to see how they get on in the last rounds stepping up to the next level.
Think the first 3 places are pretty much sorted barring a disaster in the Championship Class, but 4th is a good battle..........Come on Doug

Now there are a lot more experienced people on here but I will give it a go..................
Starting at the top of the ''bed'' you could use the headboard brackets to get a firm hold, the bottom could be a bit more tricky, maybe using a rope and the castor wheels, either way I think you could ''strap her down securely''
..............however I do have concerns about the removable parts, has she got false limbs?? I am nore impressed that you have a bar in your bedroom??
Seriously though you need to find out the towbar weight rating for the Corsa as a bike on the back might be too big.
