  1. Firstly you need to get in touch with Hebo to get a replacement strap. It should probably have been tighter from the off but hey, these things happen. I have to remember to tighten up my Gaerne buckles every once in a while just to be on the safe side. If the top layer of the boot is starting to 'flake' off it's not leather, it's Lorica. Not a lot you can do about this unfortunately, this is what Lorica does. Its a tough material so it's only cosmetic. Keep it treated with a good boot wax and it'll last for years.
  2. Brake calipers! That's another difference, makes no odds as they're not in the manual but the earlier bikes had a Grimeca on the front instead of AJP and the older large caliper on the rear instead of the newer 'compact' one.
  3. The forks and carb are different on the 2002 and yes thats the filler for the gear oil.

    Xispa For Sale ?

That's the gayest cover i've ever seen
  5. Not sure about the PSI but I certainly can't turn mine over by hand.
  6. Sorry if this sounds a bit simple but - it's not your fan coming on is it? They can make quite a noise.
  7. I use a 1.2L 67(ish)bhp car and it pulls it no problem. Fuel economy doesn't seem to be affected enough to notice. Trials bikes weigh nothing really.
  8. The unit on Gallowfields has closed unfortunately, last I heard Chris was still operating from the Ravensworth location but that was a few months ago.
  9. First step i'd post this in the yamaha section. All ty mono's seem to tap a bit, there's even the urban legend of a guy who got a full rebuild done on his engine and it still tapped! It wont be hitting the cylinder head or spark plug, you'd certainly know if that happened. Search the yamaha section and you should find more info about tapping. It might be some piston rings might help, or a rebore or even just some octane booster in your fuel which i found helped mine.
  10. I use PJ1 75w, for mail order I can recommend BVM Moto. Or just head down to your local motorbike shop and see what they have.
  11. It's quite a common problem on the 315. Have a search for clutch problems in the Montesa bit of this forum and you should find lots of info.
  12. Also check your needle valve is seating properly.
  13. I don't know what the experts say but i say yes, that's what you need. Sounds like you've disturbed someones bodged repair, not certain but worth a try for fiver.

    Montesa 315r

Horse for courses really. There won't be a lot in it. Mind you if you've bought that mint 03 off ebay I'd keep it in a bag for a few years!
  15. Definately double check the exhaust if that's something you've had off. Make sure it's all sealed nicely and the gasket didn't fall out/off when you removed it. I only mentioned it as on one of my other bikes I could have sworn it was tapping and it just turned out to be a loose exhaust manifold bolt so it wasn't sealing properly. Rattling in the top end usually changes with revs. Normally worse when the engine is settling back down after a high rev. Check all the simple things first though, 315's are usually bombproof.
  16. Did it start suddenly or has it just got gradually worse? Does it happen in a particular part of the rev range? Leaving it will be a bad thing in the long run. Checking the flywheel is easy enough, it could be the top end which is easy enough to take off and have a look. Worst case it could be the bottom end, best case it could be a leak in your exhaust somewhere or something else equally simple. Sometimes you can find the spot where its knocking by putting the metal end of a screwdriver against various parts of the engine and putting the rubber end on your ear. Works like a cowboy stethoscope!
  17. Yep, sounds like it.
  18. And it needs a new rear fork bearing...
  19. The 125's and below all have relatively huge sprockets on the back. Not sure if it was one of those you were looking at....
  20. Malcolm Rathmell supplied replacements for mine.

A Mitas will last forever. Mainly because you'll hate it and give up riding but it will last.....
