  1. Gday Iain, Welcome to the TC community. Where abouts in the Sth are you. I see Nelson has quite a strong trials following. I was born in Seddon, living at bottom of Aus mainland at the mo'. Look forward to riding trials in NZ down the track. Cheers Kem
  2. Too right. I find small pulses of throttle helps too, not enough to throw your balance, but just helps let the wheel speed match the ground speed and bite the terrain.
  3. Cool let us know what you think of it.
  4. I've got both of Ryan's DVD's. Find them excellent and have learn't heaps from them. The Advanced DVD is beyond my abilities but fun to watch. I'd say get any training DVD and practice, well worth the expense.
  5. That's an impressive record and statistically may be the trials GOAT (Greatest Of All Time). Always enjoy watching Dougie's approach to a section. IMHO I'm with Atomant, Bou's best NOW!
  6. IMO this is good advice. Just remember to also keep the brakes locked when balancing. Work the front under brakes, to get some purchase at rest. Keep your feet out on the pegs, end of the peg should be in the middle of your foot. Knees bowed wide, to allow the bike to move independently of your body and lower your centre of gravity. I use the same technique on my trials pushy, with a bit more pedal rocking. Not the same feel but similar. I think it all helps, even the Wii. Riding more is the best though.
  7. Do others squeeze the bike with ankles/heels to bring the bike across?, or is it another bad habit to break? I try not too squeeze it when general riding, just when doing nose wheelie turns.
  8. Top Shots. Awesome spot too. All were great but #19 was my fav as well.
  9. Yep that sucks. Will be missed by many.
  10. Yep do what Kinell said. Pushy uses more body the Moto uses more subtle bar movements. Let the bike fall slightly to the side you are turning to get the front edge biting into the ground more. Keeping your feet on the pegs/controls is best, extra movement (swinging the leg) just has to be reeled back in to move. I'm sure you'll get it sussed soon with your pushy balance skills.

    Mad

    Yep that was awesome.
  12. http://www.superbikerental.co.uk/sherco-trial.htm http://www.erento.co.uk/hire/vehicles-boat...html#modalities There's a couple of options.
  13. Get a Ryan Young DVD. http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=iUFVlKF0XXY He's a great trainer as well as a top rider.

    Wheelman

Yep good fun going to get the milk from the shops, another great aussie invention. The speed wobbles can spit you down the road in a second though. Here's another fun ride, This is called the Dirtsurfer, it's unpowered but more stable. Powering it up. Cheers
  15. You only have to level under the tires. Slope it slightly back into the slope. Select tires of a similar size. Put a few stakes down through the wall for extra support and you can also tie-wire the tires together. Pack each level tight into the edges of the tires to keep it even. The dirt fill brings it up to level. This terrace took 11m of packing sand. Heaps cheaper than any other terrace wall. The coach bolts in a conventional wall were going to cost the same as all the fill and a retaining wall still needs infill. I got the idea from Earthship buiders in America. Plus it re-uses a wasted resource. Cheers Kem
  16. Don't underestimate the benefits of learning to turn tight. The Cloverleaf is a great exercise. Bring the marks in and put it on a slope as you get better. Hope this gives you a few easy ideas. Cheers
  17. Bou on a Beta. We can hope can't we?
  18. I found when we put weight on the bike it opens up the clearance for the lever and it slides out. Same going back in.
  19. Spot on Smalley250. Ended up (in your currency) 400 lbs for parts and 200 lbs in labour, 600 total. He had to build a brace for the intake manifold, and cleaned up the exhaust port. Along with fitting all seals and bearings plus a piston and rings. All running well, yee ha. Cheers
  20. Thanks, Was hoping to get away under a grand our money or 500 pounds. The parts are 400 pounds already, so may be more. Yeah didn't mind the chin scratch so much, it was when he started rubbing the hands I got worried. Cheers
  21. Hi All, Well the Beta rattle got unbearable, so I dropped it in for diagnosis before a catastrophic failure. Result, Bottom end bearing nearly siezed, Crank bearing was rough rolling. Piston had a small blow past the ring. Turns out it already has a 270 bore. So it's getting a rebuild. Any guesses on what it will cost? Cheers Kem

    New Tube Question.

I thought trials tyres were normally tubeless to get down to 4PSI. Could be wrong though.
  23. http://www.trialscentral.com/forums/index....mp;#entry168324 This post discuses the 180 Flip Turn. Ryan Young covers it, if you can get hold of his DVD's.
  24. G'day Slogger, You'll love modern Trials Bikes, so easy and fun to ride, no saddles anymore though.
