No, its an 83 SWM which has been attacked with a brush !
Original blue. (think Gori's had black frames)
-
also have a look at one of the others posted by the same person
-
I've had the bike from almost new,its a TX240, pretty sure they were standard on this model.
Thanks

Mine definatly had them before it went away for it's six month holiday, I think they should be about 6mm thick but would appreciate confirmation.

Would someone do me a favour and measure the thickness of the spacers that go between the sump guard and the frame at the front.
Thanks
Ross

I could get some pics of a TL if you still need them ?
-
No, but neither are modern trials either !
-
Hi Martin
Havnt sent off the second cq yet as not sure amount, and if you also sent the rear brake wire ?
Thanks
Ross

Try a new spark plug.
Do these thinks have points ?
If they do change the condensor as well.
-
Hopefully the end of the "survival of the weakest" mentality.

Had the same wobble (see http://www.trialscentral.com/forums/topic/24519-b40-clutch-basket/ )
Had reasurance from Pat Slinn and others, just forgot about it.
Make sure you set the clutch to lift equally by kicking over with casing off and clutch pulled in to spot wobble.

Hi all, got a good second hand clutch centre from MartinM (thanks) have put in 3 soft + 3 medium springs along with a 3 way lever
Haven't had a proper chance to try it yet but is one finger light, and doesn't seem to slip until 5/6th gear if you drop the clutch.
I have removed any ridges on the clutch basket, but read on here somewhere about setting up the adjustment screw on the thrust bearing, but now cant find the info, so would appreciate pointing in the right direction.
Thanks
Ross

Would be interested in any parts, easy fix's for the kick start if you could PM me please.
-
Will need to weight my flywheels sometime.
Re "Grip effected" I always felt that it gripped better when running slightly rich, if it was lumpy just off tick-over it was about right.

Thanks Woody & Hekto
I just got a selection of springs from Peter Knight (4 soft, 4 medium & 2 hard)
and was going to try a mix of 4 soft and 2 medium to start, when I discovered the
broken off post.
My clutch had 6 hard springs in it, which explained the 2 handed action, didnt slip tho.
I suspect the boss got broken off or damaged, when someone levered against it to bend the tab up
to secure the centre nut.
Thanks for the help and suggestions.

Well I found out why my clutch wouldn't free off !
Anybody think this could be welded without throwing the clutch completely out of balance ?
(Anybody got one for sale ? swm tl320 1980 280cc)
-
Tank not venting
Fuel tap partially blocked ?
-
I my experience reset is not treated as a crime !
-
Think I have sourced a pattern coil, looks identical, apart from the price.
Give me a shout if you still need one.
-
I have used 32:1 mineral for many years in rotax motors, so recomend from pratical experiance.
It might be cleaner and pick up faster with other oils/ratios, but with a flywheel the size of a small car,
dont see any advantage.
-
Mines just come out in sympathy.
Just robbed another part off the Aprilia !
-
They are a noisy engine after a few years, piston slap being particulaly obviouse.
Get ear plugs, run mineral oil at 32:1, change the gear box oil regularly (check which is the drain plug)
Check the fly wheel nut is tight.
Routine maintenance.
Enjoy.
And check the kickstart allan bolt is tight.
-
Have you got a coil yet James ?
Seam to remember that I got one from a Yamaha jet ski, had a look today but cant see any markings, not a lot of help I know.
