My B40 doesn't have a head steady at all.

Put the tow bar on the front and push it - that should ballance the weight up a bit

worth checking that the pivot points for the points and advance retard are greased.

I would drain carb, and change the plug. After that try another coil if you can borrow one.

Thanks to everyone who contributed. I have now done 2 club trials and the pre 65 2 day - all on 1 plug. A BPR5ES. I did get a supply of BP4ES (equivalent) plugs but never had to use them, as I try only to change one thing at a time. The solution, as jon v8 suggested, was ignition - new coil and HT lead. Now runs really well, and the carb adjusters from Billet Parts makes it so much easier. Thanks again Ross

Just a little back ground. Recovered through an advert on gumtree, Police not interested enough to accompany when I went to get it. Complaint to chief constable and my MP (Alister f**king Darling) not really made any difference. Eventually the guy I got if back from was arrested and charged, I went to court on the 22nd April as a witness, accused failed to show up and there is now a warrant for his arrest. And so it goes on, and on. Thanks for asking. Ross
