    Flywheel Weight

Thanks Nicolas, just back from holiday so hadn't seen your reply till today. Thanks for the info on flywheel weight. My Aprilia has the same clutch cover as SWM, I think it was the Purple ones with discs back & front that had the modified clutch cover, which is a good mod if you can find one. Ross
  2. I use a Kehin on mine that started life on a 250 Kawasaki trail bike.
  3. Might be better to find out what the hub is and try and find other makes that used it.
  4. Love the intelligent response, shut your eyes (and mind) put your fingers in your ears, but the problems wont go away. Always the health service is trotted out as your main defence, but we all know the "Public Sector" is the huge machine which main purpose is to employ. Seems to me that the banks and financial institutions were completely ungoverned, FSA, what a joke. Labour government did nothing to reign in their excesses, I take it you did vote for that ? "when you turn up at casualty next one of the public sector unemployed will gladly tell you to F*ck off !" that's if they aren't off sick and being replaced by an agency nurse/doctor.
  5. love the way they look over their shoulder before attempting the section.
  6. Public sector - another name for unemployment benefit !
  7. Overthehill also knows not to put a steel rule across tracks, but it didn't stop him !

  9. SWM x 7, one for every day of the week or a you trying to corner the market ?
  10. Remount the condenser by the coil, so much easier to eliminate such potential problems. Is your fuel flowing fast enough ? Had the same symptoms and was down to faulty fuel tap.

    Flywheel Weight

Now that my SWM is running reasonably well (still needs cosmetics) I have noticed, or imagined, that it does not pick up a quickly as my Aprilia did, is this entirely down to flywheel weight ? I suppose the sensible thing would be to take them off and weight them, but if some one knows ? Were there any other differences between the two Rotax engines, apart from clutch covers on the later Aprilia's ? Thanks Ross

    Rotax 240

Update - Barrel should be back Monday. I discovered I had a 72.2mm piston (enduro- thanks for identifying MartinM) Engine should end up a 250cc, ports will also have to be chamfered. Also the head will require mods to the squish band (1.25 -1.50mm suggested by Peter Knight) Think the missing gear box oil has been getting into the crankcase as there is some clean oil on the crank, is this likely ? And does this necessitate a rebuild, I cant see a gasket so any suggestions gratefully received. Thanks in advance. Ross

  14. This is such a beautiful story of a bagpiper who was late for a funeral. As a bagpiper, I was asked by a funeral director to play at a graveside service for a homeless man who had no family or friends. The funeral was to be held at a cemetery in the remote countryside and this man would be the first to be laid to rest there. As I was not familiar with the backwoods area, I became lost and being a typical man, did not stop for directions. I finally arrived an hour late. I saw the backhoe and the crew who were eating lunch but the hearse was nowhere in sight. I apologized to the workers for my tardiness and stepped to the side of the open grave where I saw the vault lid already in place. I assured the workers I would not hold them up for long but this was the proper thing to do. The workers gathered around, still eating their lunch. I played out my heart and soul. As I played the workers began to weep. I played and I played like I'd never played before, from Going Home and The Lord is My Shepherd to Flowers of the Forest . I closed the lengthy session with Amazing Grace and walked to my car. As I was opening the door and taking off my coat, I overheard one of the workers saying to another, Sweet Jeezuz, Mary 'n Joseph, I have never seen nothin' like that before and I've been putting in septic tanks for twenty years.
  15. Advertise a "Reward" for return or info, dont rely on the police, in my experiance they are as much use as t1ts to a nun.
  16. There was a Invalid 3 wheeler regularly at the SSDT in the 60/70's that had a competition motor and was fast. Belonged to a factory employee/rider who had had an accident. Never know, could be that one, if your lucky !

    Removing The Barrel

Three out of the four removed with a combination of heat, hitting and duck oil. Forth still resisting. At least the barrel is moving slightly so should free off eventually. All the corrosion is between the studs and the barrel, the actual threads look fine. Are they locktited in originally ? Thanks for all the help and suggestions. Ross

    Removing The Barrel

Hi Martin Have been trying that, the studs will twist by 20/30 degrees, didnt want to break them and end up having to drill them out of barrel / crank case. Good to know they are available if required. Thanks Ross

    Removing The Barrel

No movement from studs or barrel. Tried to remove the studs but don't want to break them, gently tapped the barrel but only bending the fins. Ross
