  1. Agreed, it also quickly becomes obvious when people do "well" in self observed trials, but nowhere near as good when an independent observer is marking.
  2. Not my experience over many years, the odd tw#t of course, but generally a really good bunch of people. Competition generally improves your standard or riding.
  3. But he's just paid 200 to have them replaced, surely a half decent mechanic would have checked for excessive lift on the crankshaft and advised him accordingly ? A build up of crap in the exhaust is possibly/hopefully the problem.
  4. Can someone explain why slightly noisy mains would make it smoke excessively, especially if crank seals have just been replaced ?
  5. Farmer John gets my vote, and thanks.
  6. Timeserts may be more effective in this scenario.

Missing a section would also affect time, not sure how that would be factored in ?

  10. Bidding has ended apparently .... What was it ? Looked mostly tl ? Sammy frame ?
  11. Standard position is probably pretty close, footrests were pretty high in the 80's. There's a picture of Danillo Galeazzi's swm with the footrests moved forward somewhere on the swm forum.
  12. Also be interesting to know Alberto's height, if he's 5'6", his recommendation is probably not so relevant. Personally I go for roughly sump guard level, and in line with front of back tyre. Section swept is correct in saying getting the back brake working in the new position can be a fun experience. You do have to adapt your riding style as the pegs will catch more, but well worth it in my opinion.

  14. I'd run it at the recommended ratio for a tank or two before considering touching jetting.
  15. Hi Ian, while since I've looked at one closely, but fairly sure that's where it will be.
  16. Sounds like the capacitor has died.
  17. Try another / old plug first. Disconnect an kill switches, check h t lead is secure at both ends.
  18. Sorry, can't see many benefits, only downsides. Is the pedal well positioned, easy to get at. Ever thought of moving it to the other side ?
