  1. Arghh, just bought a new 28mm, so won't be getting a 30mm just yet...I've just made a neophrene sleeve for the 28mm carb so it now fits snugly. I will probably play around with the timing today once I've fixed all the other problems that I'd not got round to fixing. As for the sidecar crew, Gavin has basically said he never go near the sidecar with me driving... Anyway he's left the Hungerstone SWM Team now; bought a rather bling TLR250 (could have bought 5 320TL's for the same money)
  2. I ordered a new Delorto carb before i went on holiday, in an attempt to remove the lack of zip I have in first (not having reeds is also a factor), but a new Carb is only
  3. with the TL125's, it is _possible_ to get the timing 180 degrees out 1. Get the flywheel on the "T" mark, making sure you hold the camchain up so it binds with the teeth when you rotate the flywheel 2. Set the camshaft so that the cam lobes are pointing up, ie they are in contact with the rocker arms (you should loosen the valve clearance adjusters to take off the strain) 3. take the mark from the camshaft sproken (an "o" normally and align it with the mark on the cylinfer head) run it over by hand. The Clymer manual for this bike (and the other Honda singles) goes through this pretty well

    Gilera What ?

went in to see Bob Gallier...no Gilera bits, but lots of new stock Magaluti spares from the 70's ; he was also the KTM scooter dealer. Lurking in the shop (only to be sold to the right buyer) was a rare (Spanish import) Suzuki RG400 with no miles on it and a v.orginial Montesa Cota 200, white tank (with reg documents) . Shame is he knows what its worth....well he would I guess.

    Gilera What ?

No V5 or reg number, but will put the SWM/Gori project on hold for a day to do some research. There's a spark, compression and some gears. Will check for the plate / details in the morning, but the carb is there if a little incomplete. thanks for the info....knew someone would know more about them me. I think there is another 50cc gem in the same shed, so will keep you posted

    Gilera What ?

Acquired this today (from a kid I met round at a mates garage..). Cost
  8. ah, well the camping was interesting....needless to say there are more big camper vans in trials that I thought. An excellent trial, lots of rain...still excellent. Many thanks to the organisers.... Crabtree Cup Trial Report
  9. with the joyous weather forecase for the weekend, just wondered about the status of the trial and where people might be staying if (they like us) are travelling up from the south? Can you camp at the start (I am assuming you can) ?
  10. Good trial at Bowley Court which managed to finish before the rain started. Plenty of mud though and some good sections. Pitley managed to lay out a three-route trial to cater to beginners, which I think was well received/ Pictures and Report I think the results will appear on the ACU Western Centre Site...find out more later this evening

    Swm Clutch

i have a 1 finger clutch on the Jumbo as it is, with 6 clutch springs....though i am using the lower hole on the lever connecting the two-part clutch cable. I do also have a just-about-one-finger clutch on my 280, though that involves using on 3 or 4 clutch springs, so you have to wind it up gradually on the road. Interested the drawings though.
  12. get the Majesty road registered... I've given up on the three route cater-for-all trials in a way and moved to the classic events, such as the Sammy Miller rounds. Far more fun. S'pose I'm lucky locally as there are plenty of classic trials (Wye Valley, Gwent Classic etc) and not enough modern trials (eh Stu...)
  13. forget TMX, wait for Google....every other bugger is.
  14. i guess you might be gong to the Charity trial at Abercarn, may go myself, but would be good to have a look at the bike. i have some 28 Del Orto spares, but sounds like you dont need them...
  15. Pete, rode this evening, with mates Roger and Ian on TL125s. It was dry so a lot easier going that a couple of weeks ago. May try to get there on the 27th, so look forward to meeting you then
  16. clutch was playing up early on, probably getting the clutch disease from Woody's Jumbo, but sorted later (unlike the rider). Sorry about that. Results this morning, didn't come last for a change though :-) The sections were easy for the good guys, especially on good bikes. It would be great if more riders felt confident / happy / interested *** to come out and ride the Sammy Miller rounds, whatever their ability and see 120 riders entering these great events. It's taken me a couple of years since I've been riding to work out that these are what its all about. I'm glad people run these events and I'm able to enter *** delete where applicable
  17. i've done a quick summary of the twinshock bike entry, with pictures from Smithfield on Sunday Twinshock review as well as report on my run round the trial Trial Report Excellent weather, excellent trial, superb event. Thanks to the Rhayader Club and Malcolm /& Anne Bates. Superb, looking forward to the Classic Experts now.
  18. its a pretty simple configuration if you don't want lights etc, with the only complication being a kill switch. you could this Wiring Diagram. I went for the manual kill switch approach, putting it in gear.
  19. have a look at the Venhill cables site, there is a cable kit brochure which includes the : WORKSHOP & DIY THROTTLE & CLUTCH CABLE KIT Combining clutch and throttle kit with parrot nosed cutter and set of four storage boxes in their own housing. PART No. VWK005 but some smaller universal kits also
  20. my local enduro / motoX shop sells lots of them for enduro's that require a rear trials tyre. I also use them on the front wheel, and they seem to work out ok. I had been using the (slightly cheaper) Michelin Trials Comp's (not X11) which have been around the
  21. Rockshocks I would think; work as well as Falcon's and look better. Same sort of money, expect to pay

    Swm Clutch

Woody, it took me 3 attempts to get the gears assembly back together correctly when I rebuilt the engine and I also managed to get the gear (18) in the wrong way round on the final build (though not being able to kick it over was a bit of a clue). Hopefully its just the order of assembly thats the problem and see you next weekend in Rhayader. (btw still haven't worked out what that frame is exactly)
  23. For the twinshock rider, the Classic Experts at Rhayader, usually on the Saturday of Rememberance weekend in November is excellent. Also look out for the Wye Valley classic road trial in September, starting at Longtown. Some superb streams, rocks etc

    Swm Clutch

Just a couple of thoughts following our brief chat Sunday; 1. my 280cc bikes have only 4 clutch springs in place out of the 6 and one of the bikes only had 3 at one stage, but slipped a bit on the road in 4th and 5th. The Jumbo has all 6 springs in place. 2. the clutch plate bolts are nipped up all the way on the 320's and the Jumbo. 3. the adjuster inside the clutch cover needs to be spot on, with the cable adjustment slack, it needs to be touching the clutch pin. 4. On the Jumbo and post-80 320's the swivelling plate inside the clutch cover that applies the force to push the clutch pin runs on (3?) small ball bearings (the earlier Red/White 320's don't have them), but have been found to be missing on a couple of the bikes. The earlier 320 Guanaco clutch action is more notchy and no-where near as smooth as the later bikes 5. After rain (like Sunday), the clutch cables seem to fill up with water and need regular doses of WD-40. I've also changed the cable runs a couple of times to get the smoothest route. None of the Hungerstone SWM's (ie mine and Gav's) have the same clutch symptoms as your Jumbo, and the only time it did was on my first trial with the Jumbo and I hadn't set the adjustment (3 above) correctly. It juddered and would slip/grip in all the wrong places.
  25. agree with Stu, excellent day for the Twinshock contingent tpo and many thanks to Llanfyllin organisers and observers for braving the weather. Jack Parker never left the signing on van, so the TMX report will be interesting. My brief writeup of a superb event.
