    Rules?

No can do unfortunately, Honda isn't road registered and swm won't have new big end in until June at least. Will try to get to some sammy miller rounds after then.

Fair point woody, i actually do fit into the 10-12 stone category!
  3. Davidsilverspares.com specialize in genuine and/or pattern parts for all hondas. Good for engine parts.

    Rules?

At one of the classic rounds last year, i noticed one of the regular decent riders had replaced the forks on his (pretty tidy) TLR250 with the forks & hub from a TY mono, This bloke knows a bit about modifying bikes & said it was a marked improvement over the standard Honda setup, this was a surprise to me as i rate the 35mm showas & brake as pretty bloody good. Anyway, having started paying attention to forks after that, i started noticing a few other bikes with aforementioned mono forks, with riders stating improved performance as the reason for upgrading. Really, i don't think there is a huge advantage to be gained by this, but technically a line needs to be drawn, perhaps only forks/brakes/engines from other twinshock bikes can be fitted? i don't know.

You crack me up Bo drinker You're on your own if you think later mono forks & brake are fitted just to replace the "shot" standard setup, people fit them because they are BETTER. Yamaha made them better because that is PROGRESS.
  6. Ok, this is the ADV crankcase scavenge valve, basically a one way drain valve for the crankcase, doesn't actually do much, as your crankcase shouldn't need draining if the carb is set up properly and you are using the correct oil & ratio. You need to find out why the case is flooding in the first place.
  7. Look what happened when i tried to adjust the head angle on the SWM using the "garage wall" technique
  8. Bo Drinker, i'm not suggesting that modern scorpa's be banned, but the current discussion re: modern built (i.e. non-period) twinshocks could also apply to the air cooled mono class which i suggest was probably intended for period air cooled monos, not new build. Only adding to discussion, not wanting to ruin people's enjoyment.
  9. You should use the choke when starting a TX/TXR from cold, you can also get spares such as points/condenser etc from Martin Mathews at motoswm.com as SWM's used the same Rotax engine.

    Rules?

I do think that the twinshocks should run under "period manufactured" rules, i.e. bikes manufactured upto maybe 1986 or whatever, and a split for pre '79 machines maybe. What do air-cooled mono riders think about modern air cooled scorpas being ridden in their class? Should these be banned?
  12. I know a guy who installed a TY250 engine into an armstrong chassis, by his own admission he said it was bloody awful & a right pig to ride. Don't really agree with the mono engined bike, not in the spirit of the rules IMO.
  13. Would have been worth more a couple of years ago when people were modifying their t/shock bikes to disc brake, not now though as no discs allowed anymore.
  14. The forks are from either a 1987 TX, or a 1988 TXR, both models using the same forks/wheel.
  15. I must be losing it then! I've spent ages looking at their ebay shop & i can't see the bloody thing.
  16. Although they don't respond to any e-mails though, so you can't find out if they have anything that isn't listed.
  17. Malcra, i sent you a message via your site and it crashed my computer!!!!!!
  18. Well done to Sparky & the team for a superb course at the Bootle club classic trial, decent weather too! Plus, i managed to see the top of avalanche for the 1st time Any results yet Sparky?
  19. Do yourself a favour & ditch the original tailpipe for an alloy one (anything that can be made to fit) It does nothing except choke the breathing of the engine and add considerable weight to the rear of the bike.
  20. I'm sure i remember Diego Bosis winning in 1988 on the Aprilia TXR, though this may have been the one where they were paired with junior riders, possibly Andrew Johnston on a fantic 243?
  21. Anyone here riding in the Westmorland MC Crabtree cup Sammy Miler round?
  22. To be honest, i don't think it's actually that difficult, it's just that i seem to hit it wrong each time! Honda power will ensure at least a three this year though
