Thomas Minta is doing rather well on a Clipic in the C & D nationals. The bike is nicely made and the cycle parts are pretty good as well. Pennine Trialsport bring them into the country. Chris tried the original prototype bike and liked it. It's more like a Gas Gas than a Beta.
-
Really you need to move to the Gas Gas Cadet 50 or the Beta Rev50. The New REV50 is just about in stock(seen one at Pennine Trialsport). But there are plenty of the old ones about and they remain a very good bike. I have seen the Cadet and it's also a good bike but get the lad on them and see what you reckon. The Chinese tyres on the REV50 aren't up to much and the V-Rubber on the Gas Gas is superior. However you can always change tyres.
When Chris was looking to move these bikes He had a few friends who let him try them. You should look around and see if you can get a few rides on them to see how he does.
-
As with everything it's down to money. It costs a lot to move the "circus" around and given the limited market for Trials it isn't possible to fund more than one or two riders per team. (Unless you are Honda!!!). Graham could do more European rounds but that may well be at the expense of the British Championship. It's an expensive business doing any National series so I tip my hat to those that can find the money to do both the British and the Europeans.
-
The Gas Gas does need a bit more maintenence than say a Beta or Sherco but you'll hear stories of problem rear brake linkages and Carb float problems on the Beta, Bottom end bearing problems on the Sherco etc etc. Providing you keep on top of these things by doing the required work and or using the proper fluids/tools you won't have many problems. Coming from MX I think you'll find maintaining them a lot less time consuming.
-
Just like to say good luck to all the Yeadon-Guiseley Riders at Hawkstone. James Dabill, Graham Jarvis, Lee Sampson and last but not least Jack Challoner. I am not attending but wish them all the best!

That's pretty much it. Really easy to find. We take the A1 and head for Knaresborough then follow the signs for Ripley Castle hence on to Pateley Bridge on the B6165. The signs for Brimham Rocks are dotted all up the road to Pateley as several roads connect with the road up from Burnt Yates. Alternatively head for Ripon then follow the Signs for Pateley Bridge on to the B6265. Again It's signed regularly from the main Road.
The Venue itself Shares an entrance with the Tourist attraction but follow the flags for the event car park as It will be cheaper than the National Trusts!!! I'll be observing on a section that day. Don't know which one yet!!

I had a Purple Fizz. Not much could keep up with it. For some reason those early ones really flew. Only problem was the next to useless Drum brakes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now if I had known about those Malaguti Spares
-
Post the Details on here about the other Moped. I used to belong to the Sports Moped Owners Club having had a Malaguti Monte that I never got round to restoring. Sold it on to another guy who used the bits from a couple to create one good one. Gilera's are easier to restore as there is a stock of Spares in the UK.
-
Yep It's a Gilera Trail Any idea on it's old reg number?? If you don't know it could be worthwhile getting it from the DVLA. Spares are available via Bob Wright Motor cycles and it was one of the FS1E's contemporaries hence it's value.
-
It's been sold close to race tracks where they do track days as BP see a market for it. Most performance Japanese cars can use it along with "newer" European sports cars. 102 is supposedly cheaper at race tracks where it is sold.
-
The "look" of them doesn't matter it's how well the Engine and braking bits have been maintained. Don't forget these bikes are ridden by the most suicidal riders of all!!!!!!!!!!!
-
They are a very good bike. They obviously are lower than the REV80 so are good for the smaller rider. Some complain it lacks bottom end compared to the REV80 but if your daughter is used to "revvy" little bikes it shouldn't be a problem. As she grows I think the 21/19 wheels can be fitted but I'd check other parts will not need upgrading as well.
I have heard one parent stating that the REV80 this year is a better bike than last years but Beta haven't said anything about "tweaking" it. I have also heard some rumours about a "new" REV80 coming next year.
The V-rubber is better than the Chinese/Taiwanese tyres fitted to most 17/19 inch bikes as they tend to be very hard. In fact I've never heard of the tyres on REV50's wearing out!!

Two spring to mind. Hull Auto and S****horpe(which the decency filter always screws up).
S****horpe
Hull Auto.
-
So how come Dan made it down for the Fifth Gear Season ending show and you were missing!!!!
-
It works fine if you use Firefox instead of Internet Explorer. Andy has put in a few temporary fixes but When He gets back it should be sorted.
-
Just a note to those who haven't noticed Yeadon Guiseley have a new Website and it is now Hosted by Trials Central. All we have to do now is fill it up!!!.

Your Soft Cell and Bronski Beat collections are safe along with your pride and joy, the very rare 12" Newcastle Brown remix of Gazza doing Fog On The Tyne
Oh!!!! I have a collection of Soft Cell albums you know!!! Goes with all my eighties classics. Got to admit I hate Bronski Beat tho, and as for Culture Club I desperately want to club Boy George to a pulp every time some misguided soul puts "Karma Chameleon" on!!!

Not come across this before. The 50 we had would die when it was warming up. Once warm it was fine. The oil used was Castrol XR77. We also used the Silkolene Pro FST to stop the carb icing in winter months. Try Uprating the plug to a Platinum or Iriduim version. They resist the oiling better. The Mix used was 100-1 initially but I cut back to half that. One of the problems was that the bike tends not to be revved hard which they do seem to prefer.
-
I think cuckoo, (I've corrected your spelling), sums it up perfectly. I don't think replying further to you would be productive.
-
You obviously haven't bothered reading the previous posts, re-read and come back when you understand. Obviously age does not bring knowledge or understanding.

On Adult Nationals you get about 30 riders per trial hence time is not usually a problem. Getting 80-100 riders thru with a similar time limit presents other challenges. As before I'll state that I was aware of the problem with the "A" Class riders. The starting regime for "B" class caused them problems as they encountered the slower "A"class twice instead of once. If you start a Trial at section 7 then all laps should start at section 7. I will be forwarding a letter that at least suggests this practice be curtailed. Please remember that the affected parents have spent as much time and money as the club in supporting the event. If this happened on a Adult national I doubt the comments from the Riders would be as mild!
-
I believe it has been done in the past to avoid accidents. The feed back I got was that the Trial was do-able in 4 1/2 hours. so maybe only 1 extra hour was pushing it a bit?? Also the complaint the club levelled was that "A" class riders were holding up other riders at the sections, hence why penalise the "B" class where the starting regime penalised them??
We do the YMSA events as well and they are as, if not more demanding. However time is not a problem despite the sections being tough. I shall be taking the organiser's invitation to object to the exclusions on the grounds that misleading information was fed to the riders by an "older gentlemen" at Punch card control. As previously stated they also have messed up another riders time in the results to their favour. I'd suggest that if any other Parents or riders wish to do the same that their views are forwarded. The address is on previous posts.
P.S. to AS iow I tried sending you a mail via the Trials Central System but could not get thru.

The Mackenzie is to be Held at the Brimham Rocks Venue. This isn't the Tourist attraction but is "next door" and is a fantastic Trials Venue. Unfortunately despite assurances Bradford Council Planning dept. have not been as helpful as expected. Perhaps next time the councillors ask for your vote you should ask them why a National event with such good commercial and tourist revenue was lost to North Yorkshire??????
