EM (Electric Motion)

  1. Nice work on the EM by Chris Pearson at the St Davids British Championships Round, 7th of 36 in Expert. Lots of video out there but on FB so I don't know how to post it.

I have recently purchased one new and quite surprised there is no manual or anything with it so did anyone else get one with theirs?

Lots of metal flake in the oil and magnetic drain plug got a ball of the stuff on it, never seen anything that intense. Anyone done first oil change yet and had it look better?

Anyone ridden one? Pretty pricey where I am but I'm still incredibly intrigued by the lack of noise and basically no maintenance. My son has an Oset 16 that can move me around with ease so I'm not too concerned about power. Anyway, really just curious about them now that they've been around for 4 or so years.

Anyone ridden an EM5.7? I'm strongly considering one, but I haven't managed to get a ride yet. If you have would you replace your gas bike with one if they were comparable money? I have no doubt, given its performance in the French trials championships, that the EM5.7 is more than capable for my skill level. But I'm less concerned with that than how fun it is to ride.

I raised this as one of my points on this other thread but it was too many questions at once, and most of it has fallen by the wayside now anyway. So I thought I would address this one question again. My aim is to achieve a little bit of engine braking with the throttle closed, similar to a petrol bike. The Mecatecno I tried had this. Having studied the information on konrad's website, I'm proposing to use the microswitch in the Domino throttle to feed about 1 volt into the PRB connector. I'll use the PRB/FRB Y-piece to actually make the connection at that end, meaning of course that the FRB won't work, but that doesn't matter. To get the 1 volt, I'm hoping to …

I'm wondering if anyone can tell me how the ePure (particularly the Race, but they look to share the same structure) clutch and primary reduction is laid out? From the pics I can find it looks as if the clutch is on the motor output shaft, before the reduction? Is it a wet clutch? If it's wet then it would be interesting to see how they've dealt with input and output from the clutch. Is the primary reduction still belt? And they talk about adjustable flywheel - do they have a flywheel in there somewhere now, or weights that go on the clutch or motor? They certainly look like they've stepped up a level with the Race.

  8. Started by trapezeartist,

The propstand on the ePure holds the bike too upright so I have found I have to search out a low spot in the ground to place the stand on when parking up. It's a bit of a pain in the posterior so I went looking for a solution. Now I've put a washer under the inboard fixing to the swinging arm. It seems to be better in the garage, so I'm hopeful for the trial tomorrow. If it turns out to be better but not enough, I'll try two washers but that will need a slightly longer screw as there isn't a lot of thread engagement. Tyre clearance is also extremely tight. I don't know what can be done about the spring/tyre clearance but I've cut off the redundant spring lug and that…

Hi All, Total newbie here but i've just bought the Epure race (2 actually, one for the boy). Theres a sound that sounds like a grinding bearing when you add power could this be the drive bearing? I only came to this conclusion after seeing what parts were available and if so is it an easy swap as i cant find any real info out there on the motor and would much rather do it myself. Hope this makes sense!

Should the front disc have play in it or be solid? I could hear a noise from the front wheel area and found the disc has play in it, the bolts are tight but it looks like some kind of washer has degraded maybe allowing side to side play on the disc. I'm thinking it shouldnt move but always best to check lol and were can i get replacement washers form if it these that are the issue. I have two 2021 bikes and its the same on both

  11. Has anyone ridden the new '23 model back to back with a '22? There's some indication that the maps are significantly improved in terms of how fast the electric motor spins up and spins down. It seems like it may be slower, like they added some virtual rotational mass to the motor via the controller. This review (at minute 11:00) shows what appears to be a slower rev up and spin down of the electric motor, much like what I experience on my Gas Gas: I'm interested what the '23 is like relative to the '22, as I have struggled on my '22 Race with maintaining traction in loose conditions due the motor spinning up and down much more quickly as compared …

Being new to trials bikes and coming from mountain bike background, how is best to set up the rear shock for my weight? At the minute it feels quite wallowy, should it have more rebound and is it a case of adjusting or buying a new spring for my weight (will any make of spring do or are they manufacturer dependent?) Cheers

Hello everyone, I purchased a new 2023 EPure Race trails bike about a month ago. This is my first trails bike so I am pretty excited about it. Last week I rode the bike with zero mechanical issues. A few days later, I rode the bike again, but this time as soon as I gave it throttle the clutch was slipping, and it was very apparent. The slightest incline, causes the bike to struggle and I can just hear the motor wind up but very little power. I have ridden dirt bikes, all my life, but are new to trials. I have not been beating on the bike hard or popping clutch at high RPMs a lot. I do the occasional clutch pop getting over down trees but that’s about it. I checked th…

I ordered a ‘special order’ Escape with clutch almost 2 months ago. In the meantime, they have decieded to make a regular production ‘R’ and now they have released it. I will likely get it in a month (in the States, shipping is slow). Can’t wait!

Thought I'd share my experience of the EM5.7 I bought last autumn. First off a little background. I'm a long-time road bike rider who switched to dirt bikes a few years back because (a) exciting riding on roads is too d**m dangerous ( track days here in southern Germany were too time consuming and expensive © dirt biking I can do together with my kids (they're only young once). Before the EM my only exprience of trials was the odd borrowed ride in a gravel pit or w/e courses. My main ride is a 350 ktm sports enduro (mostly ridden on local motocross tracks) but my kids (also riding mx) started with an OSET and continue to love riding their electric trials bikes. Jea…

  16. I've been really enjoying my Escape over the last few months doing both slow and faster riding. I have started having a problem or two and wanted to see if other riders had encountered them (I've put the question to my dealer as well) They can happen and last for a few seconds a minute then it starts working normally. 1.The display shows F1, F2, or F3 instead of battery level. typically only appear while I am on throttle or regen braking. 2. The display fully turns off I'll keep riding along and eventually the display returns. Anyone else seen this?

I've not yet opened the flywheel cover of my 2021 Race, even though I've had the bike for over 2 years. However, looking at the instructional videos on the EM website, it looks like the flywheel has 2 extra discs held by a ring of 6 screws. Am I right? Has anyone here tried removing the weights? As I don't use the clutch I'm thinking that I don't need the flywheel for winding up inertia before dumping the clutch. Instead I think I may get a little bit more snap for lifting over logs if the flywheel is lighter.

Here are some footpegs that i cobbled together. They are crude and heavy but allow me to try different peg placement, they are about 1/2 inch (12-13mm) forward and lowered the same amount. I also did away with the forward slant of the stock pegs. They are much more conducive to sitting on the seat and transitioning between sitting and standing, they affect ground clearance very little. They are a big improvement for me, I hope to have a nicer set made, I'm happy with the forward position but I'd like them another 5-8mm lower.

I am trying to find the price for the french full-sized e-trials EM 5.7, but an email to them bounced back. It is a nice bike, the only major thing it seems to lack is a battery charge indicator. As an aside, if the Gas Gas comes out with their e-trials and they deliver with a clutch, let better say if they come out at all, it would be nice.

Just a heads up that the (whole) EM factory team are runing a couple of short EM training sessions at Kettering on the Monday (8 Sep) after the GP weekend. Its booked with Inch Perfect and only open to EM bikes. I have a TRS so it will just be the missus going. At the moment she is on her own so I am hoping this post might prompt some other people to book up or they will cancel it and I will never hear the last of it. Full details on the IP website.
