Hello all I've just got me suckers on a diddy 1976 TY 125. She starts well and looks sweet. I've a few problems though ,one being difficult higher gear selection and the other, which I'd like to explain in this mail is the carb. Iam into getting me tentacles dirty but Iam a little retarded as far as mechanical things but Iam making a determined effort to start learning now, today. My Carb problem is this. I turn on the fuel, get her going and fuel shoots out of both the plastic tubes that exit the lower body of the carb. Sorry, iam not sure of these tubes actual name, Iam currently looking for a Haynes manuel so I can explain better in future posts. Thats it. Thanks.…

Hello I'd like to upgrade my standard 1976 Ty 125. The original Rayer upgrade kit is very hard to come by but he still produces a kit for a DTMX. Has anybody out there bought and used this one? P.S took the diddy girl out at the weekend for a mooch in the woods and she's behaving well, I love it but would love a bit more grunt. Thanks Squid.

I have just bought a very original 1974/75 434 Ty and whilst it has a few little jobs to be done, the carb is one issue. Is it worth trying to resurrect the original TK carb or is it as people in the day seemed to agree , just get the correct Mikuni. What was wrong with the original, Yamaha even then, didn t seem to get it wrong. Thanks

  15. I have recently purchased a 1974 Yamaha TY 250 in quite good nick but requiring some TLC amongst the things to be addressed is the rubber hose between the standard air filter and the carburettor is missing ( part number 4341 4453 0000) and unfortunately no longer available. Has anyone got any experience of using an aftermarket Air filter set up or has any suggestions for an alternative pipe? I would appreciate any help or comments

I have just bought this and its got a list of illnesses , the main and really only one left, is a worn carb. I would like to replace the original TK for the equivlent Mikuni. After making some enquires it appears the dark arts of carburation are in force when it comes to this particular Yamaha. Would any kind person help me in pointing at the carb I might need, along with the relevent jet / needle sizes so I at least try and get it to run halfway right. I would love it to be a bolt on straight of the box , is this really too much to ask.. Thanks in advance

I would appreciate some help as I am having trouble getting the clutch to disengage on a TY 250 I have just brought. I am on the final stages in completing the rebuild of my 1974 TY and upon splitting the crank to replace the Mains I have come across a really bodge repair of the gear change return pin in the RH crank case. Fortunately I won a Ebay purchase for a replacement engine which has already been rebuilt it runs well but the clutch will not disengage. I thought I found it when I realized that there was an additional clutch plate installed or that there was a washer missing behind the clutch basket but realize as this is a latter engine it did not have one. I mig…
