anyone done or heard of this conversion? it looks pretty close to me and would give you a rear disk and tubeless rim if you use the tyz wheel (which for me would be the point of the conversion) thanks Ben

Hello all I've just got me suckers on a diddy 1976 TY 125. She starts well and looks sweet. I've a few problems though ,one being difficult higher gear selection and the other, which I'd like to explain in this mail is the carb. Iam into getting me tentacles dirty but Iam a little retarded as far as mechanical things but Iam making a determined effort to start learning now, today. My Carb problem is this. I turn on the fuel, get her going and fuel shoots out of both the plastic tubes that exit the lower body of the carb. Sorry, iam not sure of these tubes actual name, Iam currently looking for a Haynes manuel so I can explain better in future posts. Thats it. Thanks.…

Hi all I’m new to this forum. I acquired a 1980? Ty175 about a year ago and I’m just starting to re condition it hoping for some help and support. My first hurdle is removing the flywheel. I’ve managed to remove the centre nut doesn’t seem to be a washer behind it? I’ve now threaded two pullers trying to get the flywheel off. Is there something I’m missing? It says in the book tighten the puller and hit the central bolt but it’s stuck solid? Any help would be greatfully received.

  4. So!! Ive started the work on my newest trials bike! Im really excited. I have only a small amount of background on this bike. The previous owner told me that he used it regularly up untill a couple years ago. He told me that when he tried to start it after it was sitting for more than a year, he found it had siezed. Its VERY damp up here in B.C. Canada so I assumed rust. I removed the cylinder head, and sure enough, it was rusted all over the walls. I looked through the exhaust port and the piston is also rusted. Now, I cant seem to free them from one another. Does anyone have any tips on breaking the seal?? Ive loaded it with WD-40 and still no luck. I'll leave the WD-…

Has anyone got an old TYZ mudguard with the Hamilton full length decal fitted that they don't want and would like to sell, or alternatively, would be willing to take a good photo of and e-mail it to me. I thought I had one spare myself but it must have been sold on one of my earlier bikes. These aren't available anymore and I'd like to get another made. We've had one go but it's not quite right so need an original pattern, or good photo of, to work from. Or, if anyone has a bike with one fitted and isn't really bothered whether they have the decal on their bike or not, I'd be happy to buy it off you for the cost of a replacement new guard. Picture attached of the decal…

Yamaha can't deliver pistons and some people use IT250 pistons in their TY's... Ist it plug & play or are there changes to made ? Difference in engine power ? Is that the right piston ? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1983-Yamaha-IT250-WISECO-040-OVER-69mm-PISTON-IT-250-515M06900-/330786664446?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4d046beffe

So, I've taken the plunge and purchased myself a ty250 mono that needs a little work and a few choice mods. The model I have features the drum brake front, which I'm looking to upgrade to disc. I was wondering if anyone knows of a front end from another more modern bike that will fit straight into the ty's yokes ??? Thanks.

Hi All, I looking to refurb my very tired TY250 twinshock and would like to explore a Majesty type frame mod. A few years ago I spoke to someone at Telford who carried such work, but the for the life of me I can't recall his details. Has anyone got any ideas or contacts? Thanks

Didn't want to twist the other flywheel topic. Does anyone know where I can get the weight (ring) for a 74/76 TY250 flywheel? I'm looking for the full width one with as much weight as I can get. I have a 1/2 width ring and it just doesn't let the engine lug down the way I would like. I have emailed Trails and Trials, UK and Speed and Sport, Inc., U.S. neither have responded to my email. 15. My right side crankcase cover needs to be replaced. I've had it repaired but it still leaks at the kick starter shaft and I think that the problem is mis alignment from prior repairs. I've noticed on e-bay that these covers are cheap for the 175/125 enduros (CT/AT models)....and expensive for the TY's...How interchangeable are these covers. They look the same to me. Unfortunately when you buy something off of e-bay you don't have the option of physically comparing the pieces. If any of you have experience using alternative side case covers, please share you knowledge with me. Thanks Miguel

Does anyone know. Can I take my 1986 Yamaha TY350 cylinder and have it bored out. And then use it without new chrome? Is the material under the chrome hard enough to run a piston in? Alternately. Will a TY250 top end fit on the TY350 block? Thanks.

Probably well covered elsewhere but any quick recommendations for what tyres (tubed) I should put on my 1976 TY175 without breaking the bank? It’s got MT43s which are in good condition but quite hard (so I guess a bit old - on before I bought it) and have zero grip in anything slippery. I don’t want to spend too much as only ride it once a month up/down the drive and then maybe two or three times a year in easy comps. Thanks for any advice.

In my quest to improve my majesty, I am looking to change the kickstart, I would like to add a new, lighter lever and dispense with the rather large heavy original. I have tried an alloy Ty mono kickstart welded to the original bottom piece, this has asthetically worked but its rather long and tricky to use . Has anybody done this mod with example a shorter kickstart lever from a modern trials bike, if so would they be willing to share which this is. Thanks very much

Good evening folks. I'm in the process of rebuilding an American import 1974 Ty 250 which turned out to have a 320 piston and barrel, it had a fair amount of piston slap so it's been rebored by Nigel Birkett to second oversize and is now up and running. However, it suffers from pre-detonation, a leaded additive for the fuel has helped but it still bangs away sometimes and is fitted with a black coloured 'JT'carb'. Would anyone be able to point me in the right direction and confirm what carb and jets it should have as well as how I stop the detonation? Many thanks. Pete.
