hi, lost my ty175 in a river today, turns over easy enough, took it back to the van took it home, iv taken the engine out and was talking to a freind and he said iv probably bent the conrod, whats the likely hood?? what else will be damaged? thanks lukeo

JUST WONDERD IF ANYBODY KNOWS WHERE TO GET PARTS FOR THE TYZ 250, ONLY HAD GASSERS BEFORE AND I HAVE JUST HAD THIS BIKE GIVEN AND IT NEEDS SOME WORK, IE THE BACK SHOCK TOP END IS A BIT NOISY, WOULD APPRECIATE ANY LEADS TO A PARTS OUTLET CHEERS.

I am looking for standard sized rings and am struggling to find them apart from with new piston kits. Any ideas appreciated

I everybody I hope the holiday season as been good and I hope the bad wheater is behind you ( I also hope our Australian friend are in a better situation then they show us on tv ). Here are the questions. What's the deal with the spacer some guys install between the carb and the reed valve block, is it ok to install one with steel reeds or only with Boyesen reed. What' the tickness of the spacer, any info would be welcome. Guy

Hi all i have just got myself a Ty mono after looking for one for ages and its great.I had one about 17 year ago but cant remember how much engine oil goes in,off the top of my head 800ml seems to ring a bell or is it 600.And what oil is suitable as its had ATF in it.Also what 2 stroke is best, i run my GasGas on castrol tts the guy i bought it off said he was running rock oil fully synthetic 85ml to 5 ltrs.I will have loads of questions to ask in the future,but for now i am just going to ride it & enjoy.

hi im andy new member just acquired a ty50 engined monshock trials bike project has chrome frame and arm main frame tube acts as fuel tank under a cover, exhaust has link pipe into frame then exits below swing arm subframe no numbers pro engineered bit of kit will post some pictures I don't think its linked to whitlock or whitehawk could be early 80s any info ideas welcome thanks

Hi, Iv'e started restoring a Yamaha ty175 1976, this is my first bike and my first restoration project. I'm trying to restore it to its original looks to then bring to classic motorcycle shows. When starting it in the past it has kicked back at me and smashed the cluch/crankcase cover. I have repainted it and now starting to rebuild it but finding it hard to come across parts in my price range will a Yamaha DT175 kickstart and crankcase cover fit my Yamaha TY175. I will try and post some pictures of it on its way to a compleded TY! thanks,

Hi, I've just purchased a TY250Z (water cooled mono) that needs some TLC before being ready to trial. One of the issues is that once changed up to 3rd or 4th gear I have problems changing down, it requires a lot of force/persistance. The lever moves down freely but there is no feeling of it changing gear, it just moves to a stop & springs back when pressure is released. Anyone seen this before/knows what the fix might be? I'm also having trouble finding a service manual to download, anyone know where I might find it? Thanks Phil

I am looking to find a workshop/service manual for a TYZ250(purple forks) like attached images. Not sure of the age etc of the bike. I am hoping to restore the bike but this would be my first so any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Evening All I am I'm the process of starting a rebuild and note the cross strap/brace between the left hand side frame tubes above the pegs has broken. Looking at other TYs this seems to be a common problem and as such there is clearly a load at that point. What is the best fix - weld up as is, replace with a stronger gusset, or remove? If welded it may break again which would be annoying after powder coating so am tempted to replace with a stronger gusset. However this may send load elsewhere in the frame. Has anyone any thoughts or experience? Interestingly the brace/stop light bracket on the other side doesn't seem to suffer the same problem.

Hi has anyone successfully fitted a kickstart off of any other model to a TY 250 twinshock ? Seem like hens teeth or ridiculously overpriced. Just wondering.

I bought a Ty175 a few months ago, it felt very underpowered so after checking I took it for a re-bore, it turns out it wasnt a 175 but a 125. I took it back to the dealers where i bought it and they were great, it took a couple of weeks but they got me a 175 barrel and head, and had it re-bored for me. Now i've put it all back together it just not running right. It doesnt want to rev in gear and its not to keen on revving out of gear, the carb was set up for a 125 so i've changed the main jet back to 175 size (240), the only way i can get it to rev somewhere near what it should is to remove the air filter and even the air filter box lid, putting either back seems to re…

Restoring my Whitehawk TY175 for the second time in 25 years, but this time i want to smarten it up with new stickers. Does anyone out there know where i can get a set please?

I have a ty175 and the carb is getting a bit worn, but I have a good ty125 carb, the main jet size is very different, can anyone tel me what size of main I should start with on the 125 carb when fitted to the 175. Cheers Tetly

Can anyone tell me how to get the spring in the correct place and loaded. The only place I can seem to get the spring loaded is in the first picture below but it should go through the hole at the bottom shouldn't it like in second picture?

BSA mono TY175? Does anyone remember these models based on a TY175 running gear in the early 80's. There were a few when my son used to ride schoolboy trials. Schoolboy trials were very big then in the Bristol area when you could get up 100 riders at an event. Would love to see some pics of this particular model, if anyone has any or who made them etc?
