I have a dead TY250a. It didnt want to play yesterday and today before a major trial today. I spent 1 1/2 hours before dark and 2 hours before the trial trying to get it to work. Fuel, yes: spark, sometimes strong or weak or nothing: air, new clean airfilter. I have checked and cleaned the points, checked the timing, new plug. Compression is good. Checked carby, all ok there. Any ideas? I've been advised that it could be: coil, condenser or maybe even crank seals. The bike has been a very reliable bike up til now, Ive serviced it every six months, just cleaned the points not replaced and they are ok. Oil get done every 12 months. I dont want it to become a shelf item j…

2 Questions: How far can you safely bore a TY175 (beyong 68mm) without resleeving? Does anybody know what size bore the Majesty website 200 kit uses?

Boggles the mind.... how many old trials bikes are sitting around in garages like this waiting to be un-earthed? Thought I was lucky when I found my kt with 1000 miles on from new.

Hi, any ideas how you fit a kickstart shaft on my ty250 mono? Do you only have to take the kickstart side casing off or do you have to get in from both ways? Thanks,

Does anyone know anything about respoking a 'z' spoke rear wheel from a 250 mono? I have some spokes but it seems you can't replace individual spokes due to the 'z' bit. Do I have to remove all the spokes to replace one? Or is there a special technique? Any help appreciated! John.

  17. Started by squid,

Hello out there. I took me Ty 125 out for the first time in months the other day. I cleaned the carb as per usual and it ran the best it has since I've had it. Thought I'd get out today for a bit. Kicked her over, put her in to first and pulled away. What I got was a horrible whining sound and I couldn't get it into gear properly. Horrible pitch and no power. If its the carb again I had very good explanation from you guys on that so I can redo it if necessary. Would a new jet be needed? Cheers. Squid.

I picked up this well used 74 250 about a year and a half ago on the cheap. I have had a couple 175's but never a 250 and wanted to build one for the local ITSA series. Here's what I started with. And what I have now. I still need to decide what shocks I want to buy and I would love to find a set of vintage Renthall handlebars. I'm still playing with the footpeg location but over all I'm pretty pleased with it. I got most of the money I paid for the bike back by ebaying the stock parts I didn't use.

  20. There might be the possibility, of a trade deal coming up... I'll wind up with a TY175 .. 74' model I believe.. I like the looks of the twin shock classics, and those tiny little seats.. Give this fat man a place to rest. Ha. Just saw a picture of a TY with modern forks and a disk brake. Yes.. watching the classic trials videos on YouTube.. Those bikes are really neat.
