Hi, just bought a ty125, been getting it ready to ride so done all the servicing bit n bobs. Went for a 15 min run and on return the reg plate is black with oil. I took the plug out and all the plug threads are coated in oil, do I assume the clutch side seal has gone? If so what is the procedure to repair this

Hello, I'm looking for an aftermarket (stronger) kick starter pivot for a TLR200. the one i currently have on my bike is aftermarket, it is starting to get worn out, it won't stay in the folded position. when i bought the bike it had a small box of parts, mostly junk, but in it were two stock pivots and both were cracked. does anybody know of replacement parts that would be stronger. Thank you Brian Shelton WA

I was hoping someone may have a few ideas with a problem I have on my TY175. I was out on it today and it wouldn't tickover at all . It made no difference turning the tickover screw right in or out. The tickover screw and mixture screw were both changed about 6 months ago and have been no problem.Thanks.

The rear brake on my 88 ty 250s has never worked well, it’s almost useless. I put in new shoes and it made no difference. The braking surface inside the hub seems corroded. Is it possible to get the drums skimmed or relined? The front brake works perfectly (almost too well), I wouldn't mind the back being the same. Thanks in advance.

Morning all. I have a 1977 TY50 which I am sorting out for the kids to start riding on. I am quite an experienced mechanic but the front fork on this bike have me a bit baffled. I want to change the fork seals but cant figure out how to split the fork, as there is no bolt on the bottom of the fork leg and I cant believe that the only thing stopping the forks coming apart is the circlip above the seals. any help would be muchly appreciated!! thanks all.

I am freshening up the top end on a 84 TY250 mono. After looking closely at the new rings, Yamaha # 38v-11610-00-00 I noticed that one ring has grooves or ridges running around the sealing face of the ring. I needed a magnifying glass to see them. Would this be the lower "oil ring" possibly? Other than that they appear identical.

recently aquired a TY250, complete with a TK carburetor. Can anyone give me some background on the TK: was it stock, is there a current equivalent, where do you get parts...OR, should I just go with a replacement? Thanks.

Had a problem with my sons TY175 today. Was running great 'till a very wet New Years day trial, where is developed a bit of a cough and splutter. Airbox was soaked when I took it apart, so cleaned the airbox, replaced the filter with a new one (probably needed a change anyway) and cleaned the carb. Nothing obvious in the carb. Next trial out was today, where is had a distinct 'bog' off the bottom when opening the throttle. Also after stopping was really difficult to start. The 'bog' was so bad that riding through a section, seemed ok but then on the uphill exit, it just died (almost like you had left the fuel tap off). Decided to call it a day, again difficult to sta…

I have noticed underneath my 88 TY 250 s there are 2 drain bolts. The first is in the middle at the rear of the engine, the Gearbox Drain Bolt. I have used this to drain the oil from the clutch and gearbox. The second bolt is smaller and underneath the crank. www.tytrials.co.uk list is as Crankcase Drain Bolt. What is this for? Does the crank have it's own oil, or is it for draining fuel oil which has found it's way into the crankcase? Finally I am pretty sure my rear shock has started to leak oil, is this servicable or should I look for a new unit. Thanks in advance

Hi all I have a 1984 TY250 Mono. As far as I can tell it is bog standard. It runs OK. My questions are: Would fitting Boyesen reeds make much difference? Would they require jetting changes? I put some on a TY175 a few years ago and with jetting mods recommended by John Cane it made quite a difference. I'm not so familiar with the Mono so any advice appreciated. Thanks in advance.

  19. Hi, I was wondering if anyone could offer some advice please. I have a Yamaha, which has TY200 on the right hand side of it, currently in a somewhat neglected state as shown - it has been hanging in the garage for the past few years. Does anyone know anything much about it? I can't find any other with a similar paint job etc. I have been offered in the low hundreds (GBP) for it but feel that this might be on the low side... Thanks for reading

I've just picked up a 1985 59n model ty. It has a chrome frame and Swingarm, I've never seen one like it before and wondered if it was some sort of special or just done by someone who wanted something a bit different? The chap I bought it off thought it had been like it from new. I've bought it as a winter project and wanted to get it all powder coated and looking nice. Has anyone seen one like this? Cheers
