Currently restoring my Yamaha TY 175. Planning on having all the alloy / magnesium aqua blasted i.e. crankcases, yokes, brake plates etc. Ive been told this gets a very nice finish. Has anybody done it ? Maldon seems to be a reputable company. Has anybody used them ? Also has anybody done it to their carb ? Surely if all the jets are removed and you flush it through with compressed air and solvent it should be ok. People have told me not to do it. Shame to spend all that time restoring a bike just t have a manky old carb sitting in the middle of the bike.

  5. A good few years back (about 5-6 years ago) I sold a TY Majesty (mini iirc) on eBay, and I'm looking to trace the bike just out of interest to see what's happened to it. I'm hoping the owner's on here. Here are some definable details: - The bike was located at my parents house in Bradford - Engine was a 125cc bored out to 175cc - The bike sold on eBay for ~£940 - The person who bought the bike sent his son to collect it - There were no decals on the tank at the time if i recall correctly Would love to find out what's happened to the bike so if the owner recognises the above details please get in touch. I have some images somewhere I will try to dig them out so eve…

Too cold to do much today so painted the muffler. Zipped around yard with it out a couple of times. More noise - no extra power.

Sorry if its been mentioned before. I have modified some yokes in the past to move the handle bars forward but I have just fitted some nice TY250 forks and Yokes to my 175. I didn't want to cut up the yokes like I did before so I thought I would try some Rox Risers. I like the extra height and adjustment that they give you. Just thought I would give it a mention for those people seeking some extra bar height

Hey all, my first post on these forums. Purchased a bike i thought to be a standard TY80 the other day, after catching a glance of it rusting away in a friend of a friends back garden. After a closer inspection , and an email from a very friendly guy on eBay, it seems i have bought a Mk1 Whitehawk TY80. It is a bit of a wreck at the moment, but hopefully given time i can get it back into useable condition. Luckily i got my hands on it before the previous owner went through with his plans to 'modify' it with DT50 parts!. If anyone can point me in the direction of any info and pics on this bike, and also any good sources for spares i would be grateful.

  14. Hello, I bought this bike about a year ago to ride in Trials competition. Instead of just restoring it back to original condition, I wanted something that looked a little different, and this is my end result. I haven't touched the wheels yet, but I think I'm going to polish the hubs, anodize the rims black, and lace them up with stainless spokes and nipples. 15. sorry guys for all the questions will a ty250 twinshock swing arm fit straight on my ty175 twinshock ???

Guys, What is the standard break in proceedure for a new piston, rings, and a bore that has seen another piston? I honed after the first piston with a 280 grit ball hone, but after 3 hours- the rings are still not seated with about 50% contact right now. What oil and ratio should I use or should I re- hone the bore and try again? I have .012" ring gaps at the top of the bore right now. My oil was synthetic Amsoil at 30:1. There are several contact areas disbursed around the inside of the bore about 1" wide. What am I doing wrong or what would you change to get the rings to seat fully? Thanks in advance!

Before I go and spend a load of dosh on some Domino's - what levers do you guys recommend? I have these at the moment - but they don't feel right, lots of slop in the levers and the cable doesn't seem to run smooth in it (in any position) https://www.tytrials.co.uk/trailandtrialsuk/prod_47644-Clutch-Lightening-Lever-Forged.html TIA

Does anyone have any advise on the optimum sproket and counter sproket sizes for a '74 TY250. I am wanting to make second more usable and mabey even see what third feels like. I was really wanting to change out the counter sproket because it's obviously cheaper. Is it true that dropping one tooth on the counter sproket is like adding 4-5 on the rear sproket?
