Twinshock

I removed my decent tire off my GG and put it on my 74 ty with a tube. Will it work ok or just s bad idea.Sorta hard to find tube type trials tires these days plus I was trying to save some money.Have considered getting a tubless kit for bike so I can reuse my lightly wore modern tires but not sure what direction to go on this.

Anyone know the factory position of the cylinder rubber pieces on a 1974 ty 250? I should have taken a photo 3 years ago but did not. I've seen at least 3 different photos. Not a big deal but as a restoration I would like to make it factory correct. thanks.

Like about every other project I've done, somewhere between the process and reassembly, I've forgotten how the spacers go on the rear wheel. This diagram has me a bit confused. I reassembled in this order: Right side - axle , washer, cam adjuster, swingarm, spacer, backing plate Left side - hub/sprocket, spacer, swingarm, cam adjuster, washer, axle nut From this diagram, it appears both spacers go on left side with a washer in between. Can someone help me out? Thanks very much.

Hello- I am stalled in rebuilding a spare kt250 engine that was seized. I have rebuilt the lower end, and before I spend the money for a bore and new piston, etc., I want to make sure I can get a spark. I have the flywheel installed, and I have a CDI unit, but I do not have a coil. I'm looking for an aftermarket coil but I can't find out whether I need a 12v or a 6v coil. I know the lights are 6v, but the ignition coil on the magneto may not be 6v as well. Does anyone know which voltage coil I need, or maybe which coil specifically I could use? I found a couple of reasonable coils on ebay that say they are compatible, but I'm skeptical. And of course the used kt parts on …

Thought this was a great thread over on another forum. For those that find neat twinshocks on craigslist but don't have plans to buy them, maybe someone here will find the info useful. I apologise if my US location offends anyone. I don't know the equivalent of Craigslist in the UK. I'll start. A bunch of Hodaka parts bikes in Pennsylvania. https://harrisburg.craigslist.org/mcy/d/hazleton-hodaka-dirt-bike-lot/6775910399.html

I am rebuilding a ty250a.I have only been riding trials since spring of 2018 but figured I would share my rebuild for all to injoy (or laugh at).I ride a 2015 GG txt pro but like vintage bikes. The ty250 was my 1st motorcycle I had in 1976 when my father purchased it for me.The deal was I would work in woods taking down tree's to pay him back.I had no idea it was a trials bike but rode the hell out of it.

This week, my riding buddies new rear shocks arrived. These were OZO Pro Trials Rear Shocks from InMotion. The version he got were the silver colored ones with Shrader valves on the end cap. My question, and he has not heard back from InMotion yet, does anyone know how to alter the size of the mounting setup in regards to diameter. I have not personally tried to work on them, but he mentioned the oem spacer will pivot and rotate, but does not seem to want to be pushed out. Obviously asking before causing damage. The shock eye mount diameter is too small.

Aftermarket footpeg location brackets and do it yourself footpeg relocating certainly is popular on vintage bikes currently used in competition. In general, how or what criteria determines the best footpeg front to rear location? Is the lowest possible position that kerps the fert safe best? While researching this, one company mentioned that going rearward with footpeg mounts is not always a benefit, it can reduce weight on the front tire and creates steering issues. Being specific, we will be modifying the setup on my riding buddies 72 OSSA MAR. The internet has many photos of these machines with footpegs anywhere from stock to 50mm x 50mm down. …

I picked up a totally original KT250 last Friday, something I didn't know still existed. With all of the TV shows where people doing "picking', I thought I'd never find another 100% original bike, ever. The bike was a one owner that was bought in 1977 from a shop in Effingham, Illinois. Bike has 2081 miles and has been stored for many years. Of course the tires are shot as well as the chain / sprockets. Plastic decent enough. Tank very nice with one small dent near left knee area. Has lights. Seat good. Piston was stuck, however. After a days soaking with PB Blaster, the piston freed and cycles nicely. Bore shows minimal wear and is stock size. I'm thi…

I did a search and some reading. There were some posts discussing using modern tubeless tires on vintage bikes / rims and how some owners have had issues with the tire dropping off the bead at the low pressures normal run. My 73 OSSA has an Akront rear rim. Unfortunately, probably on account of the slight ding in the rim from the previous owner, my Dunlop D803GP tire is dropping off the rims bead area. The oem Akront rear is a 1.85 width. Dunlop is suggesting a 2.15 width. I purchased a used OSSA wheel assembly from a different model than the MAR and unknowingly, it had the 2.15 wide rim. So, looking for opinions. Stay with the 1.85 wide rim and in…

Does anybody happen to know the spoke lengths for the rear wheel on a KT? I need some spokes, but I can only find part numbers and can’t translate that to length- Thank you! Ron

Popped the head off of my KT to lap the head and replace the gasket as I had a leak. While in there I grabbed hold of the piston and noticed what I think is excessive movement inside the cylinder. I realize that it’s an aluminum piston in an iron sleeve so some play is normal to compensate for expansion, but this seems more than it should be. That said what should it be? Thanks, Ron

Guys, I am days away from riding my KT for the first time. Just buttoning up some odds and ends and having a little trouble with the clutch and throttle cable. I am using original cables and don’t see how they route. The frame has two plates welded onto the center tube and it looks like the cables could go through there, but not sure and no pictures anywhere in my shop manual or online that I can find. so my question is how do the brake and throttle cable route and what cable goes on what side of the downtube. Thanks! Ron

Has anyone on here used Maxton shocks on their Twin Shock Trials bike ? I'm curious what people know of them and are they worth the expense. Cheers.

Anyone know if the motor of early 123/172 cota (red one) will fit into later 200 frame ? Am running a 123 with 400x18 rear tyre, and clearance in swing area isn't good to all.........easiest way would be to find a 172 swing arm, but they seem like hens teeth in the uk I'm aware exhaust/silencer is different on the 200 cota

  20. Had a fuel leak from my filter on Sunday, figured it wasn't a problem I'd just bypass it ... except that the filter has been doing a lot of filtering, and I could see all the rust going down to the carb after putting a new clear hose on (fortunately didn't try to start the bike, so I don't need to rebuild the carb!) So ... what's the best way to clear out the worst of the rot from a steel tank? I just want it to be ok through this summer really, not worried about a permanent fix. So far the suggestions are lead shot, vinegar, or just swill it out with fuel.
