Is there a proper way to adjust the internal clutch mechanism on a '76 KT 250? I am in the process of rebuilding one and want to make sure it is properly adjusted.

Hi. I’m looking at getting back into trials as soon as we are out of Lock down. I’m looking at TYs and wonted some advice; - apart from the obvious what’s the differences between the 175 and 250s. I’m guessing the 250 is heavier and perhaps has a longer wheelbase but probably pulls better with greater torque? Any views on how they ride by comparison? - what benefits do the Majesty modifications make and are these actually worth it for a club rider? thanks

Hi folks, There will be another ahrma Trials at Unadilla's MX Rewind this year. June 5th. I am in need of checkers. If you are available, or have friends who can help, please let me know with a PM. The Trials is right after the CC race. Several people I know do both the CC race and the Trials, so there's time between events to make your way over. There will also be at least 1st place trophies for novice, intermediate and expert classes, for post 1979 air-cooled Trials bikes with drum brakes and twin shocks, even though this is a non points ahrma class. Feel free to ask me any questions about the event. And please help out if you can.

The Mont 348 I have recently purchased has Air forks on the front and I assume an after market set of Betor Gas shocks on the rear. As the bike is in very good condition, I have no reason to go playing around with these from a maintenance view point but it would be useful to know the following: 1) What is the basic construction of these - I assume it is still oil filed with additional dampening being delivered by air pressure 2) How do people use the air element to set their shocks and forks up Rob

Any ideas where I may find an airbox rubber for Montesa Cota 348? The original one is worn out.

A friend has just managed to get hold of what appears to be an ex works 37AT. We are looking for more info than the limited amount I can find in Roy Bacons books.(Postwar singles and Classic two stroke trials bikes.) The bike is 99% complete and looks original apart from the exhaust. Any help would be appreciated, cheers.

Wondering if anybody has purchased a alloy handlebar from france trials classic. It says it a size 6 and Im wondering if this equates to 150mm rise. i'm 6ft 4 and i'm looking for the highest bar possible - any other suggestions welcomed. ps Id prefer a high bar rather than a modified triple clamp or relocated footpeg locations.

On a Amal Carb if you start the bike and it run for about 1min on tick over and it then stops, what would be the problem? If i tickle it again it will start, it's as if the fuel reservoir is emptying, is the float jamming or is there a hole blocked somewhere

I was wondering if any one knows what the differents of these amal carbs are . These carbs are on a 348 and a 349 Montesa. 2626/402-27 2627/402-27 2627/406-27

Does anyone out there have any specifics on tuning the Amal carb on my 73 Ossa Explorer? I asked this question in the Classic Trials section, but recieved no answers. Is the one air/fuel screw an air screw or a fuel screw, and how many turns out should it be to begin with? My Clymer manual doesn't cover the Amal. Can't seem to make plugs last long. I'm running Denso IW24's. On a different note, I noticed not one person suggested an Ossa, for 'Best Twin Shock Ever' I like mine and thought they did quite well in their day. But I guess the early 80's produced some far better bikes. Obviously from the response, Fantic was the favorite.

  14. The old boy I ride with tells me the idle mixture adjuster screw is an air screw on this Amal...yet I've always thought if the screw is engine side of the slide, it must be a fuel screw? So who is correct? Fuel screw...wind out for more fuel Air screw...wind out for more air Bike is a Montesa 247C 1978 but an Amal is an Amal I guess? cheers guys

I have just replaced all the wiring (not the coils) on my Cota and it is running nicely again. However I have always felt that the throttle response is just too sharp off the bottom - just the slightest incorrect movement on the right hand brake can induce a dangerous spurt ( I notice some gloves are more prone to causing this). I have read elsewhere of people fitting a slow response throttle on their TLRs - I can state categorically that the response on my Cota is way - way more than on my TLR with a standard throttle. I have ridden to a couple of MrB's Bultaco's and the smoothness of the power delivery is very noticeable. Does anyone have experience with fitting …

Hi Guys Does anyone out there know the thread size of the clamping screws for the Amal T80/200 throttle twistgrip? I've lost one and after spending ages searching the garage I cant find one that fits, and would rather get the right one than 'adapt' one. Cheers Rob

Hi guys ... has anyone tried changing from an Amal ... or similar carb ... to the OKO ? I'm running a 24 year old Amal carb on my Armstrong and can't get the carb. just right ... old age probably ... the carb ... not me...! I'm led to believe some of the better twinshock riders are using OKO on Honda and Fantic. Any info. would be gratefull.

Hi guys, I'm after some advice on anodizing wheel rims. I've got a pair of good condition old rims off a early Gas Gas I believe, the rear is tubeless but is the older type with the spoke nipples through the rim. The rims were a dull silver colour as common on most bike of that era. I took them to a small local Anodizing company who reversed the anodizing process so I could get the rims polished. They now are nice and shiny with no scratches. I took them back to the anodizing company to have them done black, I asked the knowledgeable gentleman to HARD anodize them but he was very reluctant and advised against it due to a high copper content of the…

I loved that Whitehawk That's a certain (present day) bike importer in the background who was helping out at a training weekend on the land under the original Severn Bridge. Fairly sure it was Gwent STC who organised it.
