Hi Guys, New to this forum - have posted introduction elsewhere - although glad to see its not compulsory! A couple of quick questions that some of the Montesa experts might be able to answer: I am re-building a Cota 247 bought as non-runner on ebay (will I ever learn!) So far its been fun, havn't rebuilt a bike in 15 years (last bike rebuilt was a Guzzi) Its a right bitsa with frame no 21M16407 and engine no in the 5000s and a tank/seat unit from late 70s version. OK, questions: 1) Would the fact that Frame is 1974, engine 1972 and they don't match make getting a V5 harder if I was to try? 2) When does the vintage no-tax deal start - 1973, 1974, 1975 - would thi…

  15. Hi guys , just wanted an opinion on whats the best bike out of a 250 beamish or a yam 250 majesty (i own both) to use for some green laning (twisty tight stuff) and in between minimal roadwork! i'd guess the suzuki as its quiter and smoother, less vibey? but havent tried both on the road so dont know? can only insure one of them so which one? (i know these bikes are not road bikes but a friend has just bought a 250 beamish and suggested doing the above!) thanks in advance.

I'm planning a C15 trials bike and thinking of ditching the alternator and just using a battery. This will also allow me to re-work the LHS cover and reduce width and a bit of weight. - What type of battery do people use ? - Is anything else needed beside standard coil, condenser, and points ? - Has anybody tried this with Boyer-Bransden ? - What amp/hour rating is best? - 6v or 12v. - How many hours trialling do you get before a recharge is needed ?

Hi all, A couple of years ago I bought a 1985 Montesa Cota 330 as a non runner. I planned to get it going and sell on for a bit of profit. Having got the beast running I couldn't bring myself to part with it. I have now decided to do a little more work and use the bike. Does anyone have any details as to what mods I should consider to make it more competetive and reliable? Riding it around the drive the footpegs seem so high and the handlebars so low. Is this common with bikes of this age? - I am considering lowering the pegs but even the ground clearance seems too high compared to modern stuff. I am missing a few parts. Namely an airbox which I can't locate at th…
